BROOK’S PLEASURE- Trainer J McConachy reported that the filly was inspected by the stable veterinarian the following day. It was found that the horse had a small amount of discharge for its nostrils and was confirmed as being in season. Blood tests revealed an elevated white blood cell count and an indication of airway inflammation. Treatment was commenced. Mr McConachy also indicated that BROOK’S PLEASURE may trial prior to its next race start.
 
OUR BOY PENDLES- Trainer J Wehlow advised that no abnormalities had become apparent however, the gelding would now be sent for a spell.

As apprentice M. Murphy was indisposed due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. Medical would be required prior to his next riding engagements.

Race 1: Kevin’s Kitchen Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
 
Prior to correct weight, the Judge amended the placing for 4th from No. 9 – TOORAK RUBY to No.6 – CRANKY OL’LADY.
 
UNDERCOVER GIRL – Prior to correct weight, jockey L. Tilley and trainer’s representative made application for the horse to be declared a non-runner. After taking evidence from jockey Tilley and the trainer’s representative, stewards established that as the barriers opened the horse threw its head in the air, and that  the horse’s mannerisms has led to the horse beginning awkwardly.  The horse was subsequently declared a runner.
 
DELUX EDITION – Slow to begin. Steadied and lost ground near the 700m.
 
BRUTAL BABE -  Jumped awkwardly in and bumped GORDO.
 
MIDGIE GREM – Slow to begin. Laid in near the 700m, taking GORDO inwards, causing DELUXE EDITION to be steadied and lose ground.
 
HEYINGTON – Fractious and reared in the barriers prior to the start. Subsequently was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon and was cleared to take its place in the field.
 
TOORAK RUBY – Hung out in the middle stages, and as a result near the 400m, HEYINGTON was obliged to ease from that’s horse’s heels.  Raced greenly in the straight.
 
 
Race 2: MM Electrical QTIS 2YO Maiden Handicap- 1200 metres
 
SYNONYMS – As Apprentice M. Murphy was indisposed, apprentice L. Dodds was the replacement rider for the horse. Raced wide with cover.
 
ATTIQUE – Proved difficult to load. Held up on the heels of SAQSAYWAMAN near the 400m.
Jockey M Bennett was advised to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race. In determining this matter, Stewards were mindful of the placings and circumstances put forward by Jockey Bennett.
 
MISTA LONGHORN – Slow to begin.
 
RAUNCHY WOMAN – Tightened between runners at the start.  Hung out near the 400m and had to be steadied away from the heels of CHEAPY CHICK.
 
SERIOUS CRIME – Raced ungenerously shortly after the start between runners. Raced greenly in the straight. Raced wide with cover.
 
CHANAMARO – Laid in near the 900m,  making contact with MYSTERY ELEMENT, which  then made contact with the running rail. Shifted out under pressure near the 100m.
 
MYSTERY ELEMENT – Bumped near the 900m and made contact with the running rail.
 
CHEAPY CHICK – Raced wide without cover.
 
THE TAX ACCOUNTANT – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
Race 3: Channel Seven Class 4 Handicap- 1300 metres  
 
UTHRED – Had its head to the side when the start was effect and was slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: Smart State Vehicle Rentals Ratings Band 0-60 Handicap- 1800 metres  
 
HALFBLOOD PRINCE – Overraced in the early stages, and when positioned wid. rider allowed her mount to stride forward and race outside the leader near the 1200m.  Jockey C. Jokic was reminded of the rules with regard to use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
RUFFY ROAD – Apprentice L. Dodds was reminded of the rules with regard to use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
Race 5: Mackay Turf Girl Sat 28th April Class 3 Plate- 1050 metres
 
IMPERIAL ATTITUDE – W. D’Avila replaced D. Simmons as the rider of the horse. When being loaded became caught in the off-hind flank by the barrier gate and was released through the front of the barriers. Given the time that the horse was caught, it was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2.55 pm.  Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:
 
7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
11 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win
9 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
 
LE CHIFFRE – Slow into stride. Bumped shortly after the start.
 
ROCK’N’ROLL BOBBY – Shifted out shortly after the start, bumping another runner.
 
CHICA PEEPS – Leaving the 300m was held up when there was no clear running to the inside of SEASHELLS.
 
Race 6: Payne Print Open Handicap- 1050 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, jockey C. Jokic and trainer M. Geaney viewed the photo-finish print for the dead-heat between the 3rd placegetters. Stewards took statements from the Judge, also Mr Geaney and Mr Wright, the trainers of both dead-heaters.  Stewards acting under Australian Rule of Racing 156(3) subsequently amended the placings  to :   No. 1 – Grand Emperor – 1st;  No. 2 – Four Excel – 2nd;  No. 7 – Royal Physician – 3rd;  No. 3 – Jack Lancaster – 4th, when it was identified there was a nose margin between those runners.  Correct weight was declared on the amended numbers.
 
TINTO ELEMENTO – Slow into stride.
 
ROYAL PHYSICIAN – Raced wide throughout.
 
PROFUSIVE – Dipped near the 500m.
 
 
Race 7: Join MTC 100 Club Ratings Band 0- 60 Handicap- 1200 metres
 
LAMERICAN - The start of this race was delayed when the horse required farrier attention at the barriers. Apprentice Z. White reported that her mount laid in over the concluding stages.
 
MISS RICH – Tightened after the start.
 
FLAT TO STACK – Restrained to take up a position at the rear of the field, as per its racing pattern. Shifted to the inside to take advantage of a run leaving the 250m, and from the 100m was held up for clear running, and over the concluding stages was restrained from the heels of a runner forward of him.
 
QUICK VERSE – Near the 800m, when over racing, had to be steadied. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
PRELUSIVE STRIKE – Raced wide with cover.
 
STRONG WILL – Raced wide without cover.
