GOOD CATCH – Shifted in leaving the 200m, becoming unbalanced.

EMILY’S SONG – Raced wide in the early stages.

Wiggins was of the opinion that the gelding may have gone amiss.  A postrace veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J. Lancaster was advised the gelding would require an endoscopic examination with the results forwarded to the stewards prior to it being permitted to race again.

VEGAS FLYER – Stewards questioned apprentice Z. White into the tactics adopted on the gelding today.  Miss White explained that the horse was travelling comfortably in front and felt like it was not under pressure even though she was unaware of how far she was travelling in front. Her instructions were to go forward and try to improve her position from leaving the 800m as the horse had not been racing truly at its previous starts, in their opinion.  These instructions were confirmed by trainer R. Binder, who further advised stewards that following the horse’s recent performances and that of today’s poor performance, it would now be immediately retired from racing. Whilst stewards noted the explanation tendered by Ms White stewards were also of the opinion that she had erred in the tactics adopted mid race and that they would expect a better judged ride than what she displayed today.

Race 6: Starcut Flowers BM55 H’cap – 1200m

ALLISAM – Slow to begin. Pulled up shortly after the winning post. A postrace veterinary examination revealed the horse to be showing soreness in the off front leg.  Trainer P. Pengelly advised stewards consideration would now be given to the mare being retired from racing. Nevertheless, Mr Pengelly was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance should the horse return to racing.

GRAND DE LAGO – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

GREAT FOX – Began awkwardly.  Rider B. Pengelly was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a), in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount shifting in approaching the 1000m when insufficiently clear of MAGITORIAL (R. Payne), which had to be checked and  clipped that runner’s heels and blundered. Jockey Pengelly’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days commencing midnight 10 August 2019 and to expire midnight 18 August 2019. A postrace veterinary examination determined the gelding to have sustained a deep laceration to the off hind leg, which is consistent with the gelding being galloped on.

DEUS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

HOSTILE LILY – Raced wide in the early stages.

WINSOMEMORE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
