SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Mackay 17 June 2021 – Race 5
Stewards inquired into the circumstances leading to TRACKMAN having to be restrained passing the 1200m. It was established that approaching the 1200m, TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) who was overracing, shifted in marginally resulting in TRACKMAN having to be restrained to avoid heels. After reviewing films and taking into account the racing mannerisms of TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) and where the interference occurred Stewards could not be satisfied that any rider was at fault and no further action was taken.

GENERAL
Permission was granted by the Stewards for the following weight alterations due to the current Covid restrictions.

Race 1. C. Whiteley – OLLIE’S STAND - +0.5 – 54.5kg
Race 6. R. Wiggins – TAVI MCBRIDE - +1 – 56kg
Race 6. L.Tilley – FRASCATI MISS - +1 - 55kg
Race 7. S. Sheargold – HALCYON HOUSE - +1 – 55kg

The following horses were all subject of a pre-race veterinary examination after racing within the previous seven days.
SCENT OF FEAR, MANDO MOON, MORATA, SAUNDERS SUN, SFILZA, MONSTER OF POWER, SVINDAL, ZEBLAN, BOLD ZIP, CHEYENNE BEACH, PURE RUBICK.

Race 1: SMARTSTATE RENTALS Class 3 Handicap 1560 metres

SIDE HUSTLE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight. Rider F. Edwards was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m three more than permitted. In determining penalty Stewards took into account that this was Jockey Edwards sixth breach of this rule in the past twelve months.

BOOM GATE – Raced wide in the early stages of the event.

OLLIE'S STAND – Jumped away awkwardly.

SCENT OF FEAR – On entering the home straight had to be steadied and shift out to avoid the heels of SIDE HUSTLE which shifted out under riding. Approaching the 200m again had to be corrected to avoid the heels of SIDE HUSTLE which shifted out under riding. Jockey F. Edwards, rider of SIDE HUSTLE was reprimanded under AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift out without taking corrective measures.

Race 2: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Maiden Handicap 1300 metres

JUST CALL MY NAME – Jumped away awkwardly. When questioned in relation to the performance of the mare jockey M. McGillivray stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

MANDO MOON – As Jockey C. Spry was delayed arriving on track Stewards permitted S. Sheargold to ride MANDO MOON. Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Approaching the 1000m was obliged to shift wider to avoid the heels of WATCH LIST (NZ) which shifted out while overracing.

THORBEN – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

WATCH LIST (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.

SAUNDERS SUN – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

SNEAKY GAL – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

Race 3: SKY RACING QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 2 Handicap 1100 metres

FIRE KING – Rider A Butler reported the gelding got down on its bumpers during the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ATTACKABEEL – Approaching the 800m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of CALPURINA which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice C. Collis, rider of CALPURINA pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding for allowing his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear to do so. Apprentice Collis’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight days to commence midnight Saturday 28th of August 2021 and to conclude midnight Sunday 5th September 2021. Approaching the 250m had to shift out to improve into clear running.

CALPURNIA – Laid out throughout the event.

CHERBALENA – Jumped away awkwardly and was hampered shortly after jumping.

MISHANI PHAROAH – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

PINK GIN – Was declared a late scratching at 1.16pm after refusing to load. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 1.16pm as following:

All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.
Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that PINK GIN would be required to gain a further barrier certificate prior to accepting for a future race.
THE APPOINTED TIME – Slow to begin.

Race 4: APPRENTICE OF YEAR - MARNU POTGIETER Class 3 Plate 1100 metres

COLD POWER – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

DAWN TOO GOOD – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

THE LAST DRAGON – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

WITH TRUST – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result.

LADY LOWBURN – When questioned regarding the performance of the mare Jockey C. Whiteley stated that his mount felt flat throughout the event and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

MYZABOOM – Raced wide throughout the event.

Race 5: JOCKEY OF YEAR - ASHLEY BUTLER OPEN Handicap 1100 metres

ONLY WANNA SING – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

OUR BOY PENDLES – Laid in shortly after jumping away contacting PRINCESS RULES. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

PRINCESS RULES – Momentarily inconvenienced shortly after jumping away.

QUART POT – Contacted the running rail passing the 800m.

SFILZA – Passing the 800m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of ONLY WANNA SING while overracing.

Race 6: TRAINER OF YEAR - TRINITY BANNON BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1800 metres

ELLE A WALKING – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances which lead to ELLE A WALKING having to be checked passing the 1600m.

TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) – Overraced in the early and middle stages Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Approaching the 1050m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of ELLE A WALKING which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so. Apprentice O Kendal plead guilty to a charge of careless riding in that she allowed her mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear. Apprentice Kendal’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 28th August 2021 to midnight 7th September 2021. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

FRASCATI MISS (NZ) – Hampered on jumping away. Passing the 1600m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BATTLE which shifted in marginally. Jockey D’Avilia, rider of BATTLE, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

LUCKY FOR SOME – Jumped away awkwardly.

BATTLE – Reared on jumping away. Inconvenienced passing 1000m by TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) which shifted out to improve.


Race 7: BOOK FOR CLASSIC RACEDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER Class 6 Handicap 1300 metres

Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider a protest lodged by rider R Wiggins rider of 2nd placegetter REVENIRE against CAVELLTON being declared the winner alleging interference over the final 200m. After considering all the evidence Stewards found that approaching the 100m CAVELLTON shifted in making heavy contact with REVENIRE and continued to lay in onto REVENIRE for a number of strides. CAVELLTON again shifted in over the concluding stages making significant contact with REVENIRE. Bearing in mind the significant contact between both runners which resulted in REVENIRE losing its momentum, the proximity to the finish and the beaten margin of a long head Stewards were comfortably satisfied that had such incident not occurred REVENIRE would have finished in advance of CAVELLTON and therefore the protest was upheld. The placings were amended as follows:

1st - REVENIRE
2nd - CAVELLTON
3rd - SVINDAL
4th - NATIVE BEE

REVENIRE – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Was hampered by CAVELLTON which made significant contact when it laid inwards over the final 200m.

SVINDAL – Overraced during the middle stages.

CAVELLTON – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight contacting REVENIRE on two occasions over the final 200m.

HALCYON HOUSE – Raced wide over the early stages.

CATMOSPHERE – Raced keenly over the early and middle stages.

ROCK 'N' SOL – Raced wide during the middle stages.

ARCHER'S TREASURE – Overraced early and middle stages.


Race 8: HORSE OF YEAR - BRAD RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1300 metres

JOEL – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

BILL 'N' TED – Raced wide throughout the event.

STUMPED – Rider R Wiggins reported that his mount was disappointing and he could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ZEBLAN – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

BOLD ZIP – Raced wide throughout the event.

Race 9: RACING AGAIN TUESDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1300 metres

WEATHER MAN – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.

CHEYENNE BEACH – Raced wide throughout the event.

WAY BACK WHEN – Raced wide throughout the event.

TEMPO (NZ) – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages and had to be restrained approaching the winning post when becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of WEATHER MAN which shifted out marginally. Apprentice O. Webb, rider of WEATHER MAN was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) and was reminded of her obligations to stop and straighten her mounts when they shift ground in future.

PURE RUBICK – Raced wide throughout the event.

SHE'S IMPERIAL – Raced wide throughout the event.

DJEBEL READY – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

GRACEFUL ZARIFA – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
