DAWN REBEL commenced to hang in and tighten GRANT’S PATCH in onto SAVVY SOVERIEGN which was checked. At the same time AIDENABET was crossing DAWN REBEL to obtain the lead. Stewards were satisfied that the racing manners of DAWN REBEL was the contributing factor so therefore, no further action was taken. GRANT'S PATCH – Tightened for racing room leaving the 1000m mark. Tightened and checked near the 550m by DAWN REBEL which hung in. Hung in under pressure down the home straight. AIDENABET – Hung in under pressure. EDIFICATION – Slow into stride. Shifted out near the 200m and bumped with SCARLET DESIRE. Jockey J Stanley reported the gelding was to lay in throughout. SAVVY SOVEREIGN (NZ) – Tightened and checked near the 1000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions to the near hind leg. FLYING SHAMUS – When queried on the performance Jockey A Layt reported after jumping fairly he raced wide initially before settling one off the rail near the 600m, then the horse failed to run on over the concluding stages. DAWN REBEL – Hung in noticeably throughout. Approaching the 600m the gelding hung in resulting in GRANT’S PATCH having to check. The trainer’s representative L Manzelmann was advised, that the gelding requires an official trial prior to its next start for its racing manners. SCARLET DESIRE – Bumped near the 200m. THIDA – Slow to begin. Race 2: HP & CP AUSTRALIA - ELECTRICAL SWITCHBOARD SOLUTIONS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1050 M BOLD TONTO – Slow to begin. When queried on the performance Jockey R Wiggins advised that the gelding did not stretch out and failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of tying up and lameness in the off hind leg. Trainer G Taylor was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to the horses next start. WOLF POINT – Bumped at the start, slow to begin. Held up for clear racing room over the concluding 150m. CHUCKA DUMMY – Bumped at the start, raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. KEY TO THE ZOU – Bumped at the start. Laid in throughout. NINE CARATS – Jockey N Thomas reported the mare Raced greenly throughout. PONGA'S GIRL – Raced wide throughout. Race 3: LADBROKE IT! BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300 M COLLOMBATTI – Raced wide throughout. MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages. HILVERSTON – Over raced in the early stages. BOLD ZIP – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Apprentice T Townsend was reprimanded under AR132(5) for her use of the whip 16 times in total, 2 more than permitted. MISTER SELFIE – Over raced in the middle stages. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 4: CCG TERMINATIONS OPEN HANDICAP 1560 M SAVVY LEGEND (NZ) – Laid in under pressure. BRAD – Jockey A Butler reported he would have preferred to take a sit, however due to the moderate tempo after the first 200m he maintained the lead as BRAD commenced to pull hard. NIGHT OF POWER (IRE) – Held up for clear racing over the final 100m. MOTAMAYIZ (GB) – Raced wide early. Laid in under pressure over the final 300m. SUCH A WHIT – Shifted ground outwards over the finial 300m. SARNIA – Slow to begin. Race 5: MM ELECTRICAL MACKAY NQ CLASSIC QTIS 3YO & 4YO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1800 M BOLD HUSSAR – Impeded near the 300m. Apprentice T Townsend (MISSION HOUSE) was reprimanded under AR131(a) for carelessly allowing her mount to shift ground at that point. FOUR MILE LANE – Apprentice G Semmens was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. ROCKETORO – Began awkwardly. ENTERPRISE PHOENIX – Jumped outwards at the start bumping with BOLD HUSSAR. BRAND NEW (NZ) – Hung in under pressure. DEAL AN ACE – When queried in relation to racing three wide throughout Jockey J Murphy stated that from the wide draw, he raced wide initially with the view of obtaining cover, however, when that did not occur, he felt that restraining to the rear of the field at the 1300m would prove detrimental to his mounts chances. The rider further stated that despite being three wide he was able to trail MISSION HOUSE and have DEAL AN ACE travel comfortable and considering the circumstances the gelding preformed well after being placed under pressure leaving the 600m. When considering the explanation from J Murphy the stewards did not feel that the tactics adopted in the circumstances were unreasonable. MISSION HOUSE – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin. Raced three wide throughout. Near the 300m shifted outwards under pressure impeding BOLD HUSSAR. Apprentice T Townsend was fined $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted. LEVALET – Began awkwardly and was impeded soon after the start. Over raced in the early stages when being restrained to a rearward position. DRAGON SONG – Over raced in the early stages when being restrained to a rearward position. DOOM DIVA – Over raced in the early and middle stages. TELMESOMETHIN'GIRL – Began awkwardly. Race 6: SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC CLASS 3 PLATE 1050 M ABSOLUTE LEGEND – Slow to begin. Jockey J Stanley reported that his mount raced ungenerously and hung in during the initial stages a warning was placed on the geldings’ racing manners. NIC ME SOME – Hung in when under pressure in the home straight and as a result jockey D Evans was placed at difficulty riding his mount out. I AM BOLT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. INNER SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and raced wide throughout. CHILENA – Began awkwardly. RIVER DAISY – Slow to begin.
