When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, in particular when leading by a considerable margin in the early stages, jockey J Stanley explained that after beginning well, PROFITS PRAYER commenced to overrace in the early stages therefore elected to roll forward where he was able to obtain a lead position easily due to the lack of pace in the race. Jockey Stanley added he was unaware of the lead he had established early, however explained that he allowed the gelding to continue to stride forward, allowing it to settle where comfortable as he was aware that his mount has the tendency to resent pressure applied to the bit when restraining, as he felt that this would have been detrimental to its overall performance. Jockey Stanley further added that PROFITS PRAYER was having its first start with winkers, stating that the gear may have attributed to the gelding’s inclination to overrace in the early and middle stages of the event. Stewards noted jockey Stanley’s comments.

Apprentice Olzard added that MISHANI AMORE benefited from the step down in distance in today’s event.
