BETTER BE READY – Raced keenly in the early stages.
BIKER – Slow into stride. Over raced in the middle stages. Held up for clear running passing the 250 metres and was unable to improve, before shifting to the outside of THE PENSKE FILE passing the 50 metres. When questioned regarding his tactics adopted over the final 600 metres, in particular whether he gave consideration to shifting wider on entering the home straight to avail himself an unimpeded run, jockey Raul Silvera Olivera stated that on entering the home straight, BIKER was trailing a favorable runner (THE PENSKE FILE) and was of the view that runner would further improve into the race, while also being mindful of BIKER’s tendancy to lay in when placed under pressure. As a result, his mount became held up for a run in the home straight and once clear, only finished the race off fairly. jockey Olivera admitted that in hindsight, he may have erred in his judgement by not switching wider on the track on entering the home straight. When considering the explanation of the rider, the available replays and noting BIKER’s inclination to hang in under pressure, Stewards were not satisfied to the requisite standard that his ride constituted a breach of the rules.
FLYBALL – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Upon returning to scales, jockey R Wiggins reported that FLYBALL was one-paced over the concluding stages and in his opinion may derive benefit from the addition of blinkers.

Jockey Fry added the gelding was caught wide in the early stages, however in his opinion DILLINGER would have had endured too much work early to obtain a forward position and as a result allowed his mount to travel three-wide position to give the gelding every possible chance to finish off the race. Stewards noted jockey Fry’s explanation.
