Stewards granted permission for the following overweights:

RACE 1: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300 Metres)
PENSEUR POSITIF – Slow to begin. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
DEBBIE BABY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Upon returning to scale, jockey Jackson Murphy stated that his mount had raced flat throughout the event and proved disappointing over the concluding stages.
MISS COMANECI - Jumped away awkwardly. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the seemingly poor performance, jockey Adam Sewell stated that the drop back in distance in combination with the removal of blinkers today may have proved detrimental to the mare’s overall chances in the event. Jockey Sewell further added that in his opinion MISS COMANECI may not have handled the back up from its most recent start at Townsville.
SPIETH IMPEDIMENT – Slow to begin.
WHATTA WHITT – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted, in particular the decision to race wide throughout the event, jockey Sean Cormack stated that his mount was inclined to over race throughout the event and that he had attempted to restrain to find cover on a number of occasions in the early stages when his mount would steady for a stride or two, however when attempting to do so his mount would commence to over race again prior to obtaining cover. Jockey Cormack added that he had considered allowing his mount to continue forward to obtain a position in the lead however his mount did not have enough turn of foot in order to press forward during that stage of the race. Jockey Cormack further added that WHATTA WHITT then commenced to lay inwards on to another runner, therefore he elected to try and keep his mount as straight as possible, while it to race as comfortable as possible in a wide position. Stewards noted jockey Cormack comments.
JOHN'S ROAD – Over raced in the early stages.
LADY DE VEGA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and had to be restrained from heels on a number of occasions.
RACE 2: CCG CABLE TERMINATION BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1560 Metres)
PEPPERDINE - Raced wide in the early stages until obtaining a position in the lead near the 1050m.
ALL BUSINESS (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Was held up momentarily upon entering the home straight.
DIASONIC – Jumped away awkwardly.
SPELLMASTER (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages.
THE PENSKE FILE – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Shifted wider near the 600m in an attempt to improve into clear racing room. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
JUST FRANK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing at Emerald on the 23rd of September and was cleared to start.
RACE 3: IPD BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1100 Metres)
NORTHERNONTAP – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for the majority of the home straight until gradually shifting outwards over the final stages to obtain clear racing room near the 50m.
RICH AGAIN – Near the 1000m shifted inwards and bumped the hind quarters of IRISH ROCKET, became unbalanced for a number of strides and was inconvenienced momentarily when IRISH ROCKET stepped outwards. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RIDEAU – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards.
NO LOVE LOST – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
IRISH ROCKET – Near the 1000m, bumped in the hind quarters by RICH AGAIN and stepped outwards momentarily inconveniencing RICH AGAIN. Hung outwards rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey Jackson Murphy stated that he was disappointed in the performance, adding that the mare was quite difficult to ride during the event as it was inclined to hang out throughout. Jockey Murphy added that IRISH ROCKET felt awkward in its action over the final stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer Dane McKinnon was advised to report to stewards on the condition on the mare in the subsequent days.
CHIARO DI LUNA – Raced wide in the early stages until obtaining a position outside the lead near the 800m.
MADAME MOTH – Jumped away awkwardly and contacted the outside barrier partition, resulting in being slow to begin. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 4: MM ELECTRICAL / HP&CP NQ CLASSIC QTIS 3YO & 4YO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1800 Metres)
THORMENDOUS MISS – Shifted outwards on jumping. Laid outwards near the 200m.
BETTER BE READY – Shifted outwards and bumps with THE KOBAY TRAIN on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Approaching the 1100m commenced to over race and shifted outwards to avoid the heels of CARACRISTI. Inclined to lay outwards over the final 200m.
CRYPTOLOGY – Bumped on jumping by PRETTY PROFIT and crowded shortly after when CARACRISTI shifted inwards. Shifted wider on the track near the 500m in an attempt to improve. Shortly after entering the home straight, shifted outwards before being corrected by its rider. Near the 200m laid inwards momentarily and had to be steadied for a stride when THORMENDOUS MISS laid out simultaneously.
CARACRISTI – Shifted inwards shortly after the start crowding CRYPTOLOGY. Raced wide until obtaining a position in the lead near the 1200m and then commenced to race keenly thereafter.
PRETTY PROFIT – Shifted outwards on jumping, bumping CRYPTOLOGY. Over raced in the early stages. Made the crossing awkward after brushing with SUPEEDO GONZALES. When questioned in relation to the poor performance, apprentice Tahlia Fenlon stated that after her mount had raced keenly in the early stages, the filly settled well however when the tempo quickened in the middles stages and when asked to respond, PRETTY PROFIT failed to do so and lost touch with the remainder of the field. Apprentice Fenlon stated that the filly felt sound in its action however proved very disappointing. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the filly to have a cardiac arrythmia. Trainer Kris Thomas was advised that PRETTY PROFIT would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of the results of an ECG prior to being required to trial/gallop 1000m and have satisfactory a cardiac auscultation completed post-trial/gallop.
SUPEEDO GONZALES – Very slow to begin. Brushed with PRETTY PROFIT shortly before the crossing. Laid outwards when over racing near the 1600m and became awkwardly placed on the heels of THE KOBAY TRAIN. Bumped with THE KOBAY TRAIN near the 1450m. Over raced in the middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
THE KOBAY TRAIN – Shifted inwards on jumping, bumping BETTER BE READY. Near the 1450m bumped with SUPEEDO GONZALES and stepped outwards becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of CARACRISTI.
RACE 5: APEC BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1200 Metres)
AIDENABET – Hung inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey Sean Cormack reported that his mounts tendency to hang inwards in the home made it difficult to ride the gelding out to the fully to the finish.
UNDERRATED – Raced wide until a point near the 900m when obtaining a position in the lead and commenced to over race thereafter. Stepped outwards near the 50m and had to be steadied by its rider. Jockey Ryan Wiggins reported that the wide barrier draw today proved detrimental as the gelding had to be pressured too much in the early stages to obtain a position in the lead in its first start following a spell.
RAVENITE – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result slow to begin. Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 100m.
BELLE'S BOY – Raced wide throughout.
SANTORINI SUMMER – Bumped on jumping by ZAYA. Held up for clear racing room in the home straight until a point near the 150m.
ZAYA – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards, bumping SANTORINI SUMMER. Shifted outwards near the 500m to obtain clear racing room and in doing so carried TORQUE OF DREAMS wider. Laid outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
TORQUE OF DREAMS – Carried wider near the 500m when ZAYA shifted wider to obtain clear racing room. Hung inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice Nikki Olzard reported that her mounts tendency to hang inwards in the home made it difficult to ride the mare out fully to the finish.
CAILIN ALAINN – Was declared a late scratching at 9:10am due to no available rider.
FANCY LEGEND – Jockey Nathan Thomas was reminded of his obligations to ensure he shows sufficient vigor when pushing his mounts out over the final stages in similar circumstances.
RACE 6: NEW KLEIN PLIERS OPEN HANDICAP (1560 Metres)
ACROPHOBIC – Over raced in the early stages until obtaining cover.
FAROOQ – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
BRASCO – Inclined to lay outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
