SUPPLEMENTARY
 
MACKAY 15TH OCTOBER 2025 TRIALS - 2YO OPEN (1050 METRES)
Prior to the running of trial one, LONG TALL JAMES became fractious and reared in the mounting yard, dislodging apprentice jockey Nikki Olzard, who fell heavily and landed on her back. Apprentice Olzard was attended to by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) personnel on course and assessed for a potential lower back injury. She was subsequently transported to Mackay Base Hospital for further medical evaluation. Apprentice Olzard will be required to provide a medical clearance before resuming any riding duties.
 
 
GENERAL

Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 6.         AIDENABET (Chelsea Jokic) +0.5kg

BELLE’S BOY underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing at Rockhampton on Thursday 9 October and was passed fit to race.
 
 
RACE 1: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1800m
 
BETTER BE READY – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
THE PENSKE FILE – Leaving the 1600 metres, had to be steadied when BETTER BE READY laid in marginally. Rider Sean Cormack was reminded of his obligations to provide sufficient room when racing in similar circumstances. Shifted wider to improve leaving the 550 metres. Inclined to lay inwards through the early part of the home straight.
 
TORQUE ESPAGNA – Slow into stride. Over-raced in the early stages and had to be shifted wider leaving the 1500 metres to avoid the heels of THE PENSKE FILE. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

 
RACE 2: BOOK FOR MELB CUP RACEDAY TUE 4TH NOV MAIDEN HANDICAP 1560m

SHE'S GOT LYRICS – Contacted on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted wider to improve leaving the 550 metres.
 
DEBBIE BABY – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SUPEEDO GONZALES – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
JOHN'S ROAD – JOHN’S ROAD was declared a late scratching at 12:33pm by order of the Stewards after becoming loose while being transported to the racecourse and galloping for a distance in the surrounding neighborhood. Trainer Peter Duncan was advised that JOHN’S ROAD would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
SPIETH IMPEDIMENT – Jumped away awkwardly then shifted in contacting the hind-quarters of SHE’S GOT LYRICS. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced keenly throughout. 

 
RACE 3: LADBROKES BIG BETS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1560m

SHOALWATER BAY – Bumped on jumping then buffeted between runners shortly after the start.
 
MR CALEB – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted wider leaving the 900 metres in an attempt to improve.  
 
CASH ARTIST – Taken out by SHOALWATER BAY on jumping. Overraced in the middle stages.
 
ICONIC PRINCE – Shifted out on jumping, bumping SHOALWATER BAY, which was taken out onto CASH ARTIST, who in turn was taken out onto MR CALEB.

 
RACE 4: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE OPEN HANDICAP 1100m
 
JOURNALISM – Slow to begin.
 
SOOPAT – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CAPTAIN FOX – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
DOUBTING EYE – Began awkwardly and was slow as a result. Shifted wider to improve leaving the 500 metres.
 
FLYING SHAMUS – Bounded on jumping.

 
RACE 5: TOTAL FIRE SOLUTIONS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
 
The start of this race was delayed as multiple runners were difficult to load.
 
PROMPTLY – Crowded for room on jumping. Shortly after the start, went off stride and attempted to buck for several strides, losing considerable ground and as a result took no competitive part in the event. Trainer Lachlan Manzelmann was advised that PROMPTLY must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
TIME POWER – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Shifted in on jumping crowding RUBY DOREEN.
 
FILLYDELPHIA MISS – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 1000 metres, commenced to over-race and had to be steadied away from the heels of THE KOBAY TRAIN after becoming unbalanced.
 
RUBY DOREEN – Crowded for room on jumping. Jockey Raul Silvera Olivera reported at scale that RUBY DOREEN failed to muster speed in the early stages and raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer Lachlan Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the filly regarding its competitiveness and was further advised that stewards would be monitoring the filly’s future race starts.
 
VAN DER WOODSEN – Shifted in on jumping crowding PROMPTLY. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Approaching the 600 metres, commenced to over-race and had to be steadied for several strides to avoid the heels of PICNIC BLANKET.
 
 
RACE 6: BOOK FOR CHRISTMAS RACEDAY SAT 6TH DEC BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m

TURN BIRD – Jumped away awkwardly then shifted out contacting the hind-quarters of RAETIHI (NZ). Overraced in the middle stages. Raced wide with cover throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure through the early part of the home straight and while being corrected by its rider, shifted out and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
RAETIHI (NZ) – Contacted shortly after the start.
 
NORTHERNONTAP – Held up rounding the home turn before shifting to the outside of RICH DIVINITY leaving the 250 metres to gain clear running and in doing so, carried DEMON DELIVERA wider.
 
DEMON DELIVERA – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Taken wider leaving the 250 metres.
 
LADY MASQUERADE – Slow into stride.
 
RICH DIVINITY – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
AIDENABET – Laid in when placed under pressure over the final 200 metres.
 
ME TIME – Raced four-wide without cover throughout.
 
JUST FRANK – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
 
RACE 7: RACING AGAIN FRIDAY 24TH OCTOBER RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1200m

MATTEI – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
UNDERRATED – Overraced throughout the event.
 
RAVENITE – Slow into stride.
 
LULO ROSE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BELLE'S BOY – Shifted out and bumped with MICROWAVE JENNY. Overraced in the middle stages. Shifted wider to improve leaving the 550 metres.
 
MICROWAVE JENNY – Shifted in and bumped with BELLE’S BOY.
 
MADAME MOTH – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure over the final 200 metres.
 
FIREUPZOUS – Laid in when placed under pressure over the final 200 metres.
