RACE 1: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1200 M

ATLANTIC RAIN – Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight and near the 50m shifted outwards inconveniencing FABULEAN for a number of strides. Jockey A Bulter was reprimanded under AR131(a) for carelessly permitting his mount to shift ground at this point.
 
FABULEAN – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Bumped by NEXT LEGACY upon entering the home straight and near the 300m shifted outwards in an attempt to gain clear racing room bumping with NEXT LEGACY. Near the 50m inconvenienced for a number of strides when ATLANTIC RAIN shifted outwards when under pressure.
 
NEXT LEGACY – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Upon entering the home straight bumped FABULEAN and near the 300m bumped by FABULEAN which shifted outwards in an attempt to obtain clear racing room.
 
THE KOBAY TRAIN – Near the 1000m commenced to over race for some distance after obtaining a position with cover.
 
NEV – Slow into stride.
 
 


RACE 2: LADBROKES POPULAR SRM 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1100 M

ANSWERING – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards bumping TENNER. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.  Bumped with SINGULAR near the 50m.
 
SINGULAR – Shifted outwards on jumping and bumped by TENNER. Near the 50m bumped with ANSWERING.
 
DALT JAZ – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight and had to be corrected by its rider on a number of occasions.
 
WHATTA WHITT – Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
COPPABELLA ROAD – Raced wide throughout.
 
PRIDEOFTHEBIGFISH – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey A Sewell stated that after racing wide in the early stages his mount had never travelled at any stage throughout the event and failed to respond to his riding efforts. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
ZAYA – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result.
 
TENNER – Began awkwardly and bumped by ANSWERING and in turn bumped SINGULAR. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
TORERA – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages.
 
 


RACE 3: LADBROKES BIG BETS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100M

EL FORTRESS – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted outwards upon entering the home straight to maintain clear racing room.
 
BETTER BREAKOUT – Bumped and impeded on jumping by SHOOTINGOFFTHEHAND and RUM RUNNER (NZ). Raced wide until a point passing the 600m.
 
SHOOTINGOFFTHEHAND – Bumped on jumping by MOSCOW CITY which shifted inwards and as a result bumped and impeded BETTER BREAKOUT. Raced wide in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when under pressure over the final stages.
 
RUM RUNNER (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted outwards bumping and impeding BETTER BREAKOUT. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.  
 
MOSCOW CITY – Shifted inwards on jumping bumping SHOOTINGOFFTHEHAND.
 
OSCAR BOOIE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CONFISERIE (NZ) – Due to declared ride S Cormack being unable to make the declared weight, W D’Avila was approved as the replacement rider at the declared 1kg overweight. S Cormack was subsequently reprimanded under AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when found to be overweight. In assessing penalty, stewards took into consideration the riders guilty plea and excellent record under the rule of more than two years. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
MAGIC TYLA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 

RACE 4: MACKAY GAMING BM62 HANDICAP 2000M

SHOCKSTAR (NZ) – Began awkwardly bumping EAGLE WARRIOR. Over raced in the early and middle stages. When questioned in relation to the seemingly poor performance jockey A Sewell stated that his mounts tendency to over race in the early and middle stages proved detrimental to the gelding’s overall chances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left foreleg. Trainer B Thomson was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to SHOCKSTAR (NZ) racing again.
 
EAGLE WARRIOR – Bumped on jumping by SHOCKSTAR (NZ). Raced wide in the early stages.
 
DULCET (NZ) – Held up for clear racing room between the 200m and 100m. Laid inwards over the concluding stages.
 
MORDECAI – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result.
 
CASH ARTIST – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FLYBALL – Raced wide in the early stages. Over raced in the early stages. Shifted wider near the 600m in an attempt to improve. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
TORQUE ESPAGNA – Began awkwardly.
 


RACE 5: BOOK FOR CHRISTMAS RACEDAY SAT 6TH DEC 0 - 65 HANDICAP 1200M

SENNAPROST – Began awkwardly.
 
CANDLELIT – Inclined to lay outwards when under pressure in the early stages of the home straight before being corrected by its rider.
 
RONS FINEST CHOICE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards hampering SPIRIT OF MAC. Over raced in the early stages.
 
SPIRIT OF MAC – Began awkwardly and hampered shortly after the start when RONS FIRST CHOICE (NZ) shifted outwards. Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted wider near the 400m to improve. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
KATHY'S ROSE – Fractious prior to the start. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey C McIver stated that his mount had to endure more work than anticipated to obtain a position in the lead near the 950m, he further added that the mare had failed to quicken when placed under pressure. Trainer C Taylor advised that he was at a loss to explain the poor performance today. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
NO LOVE LOST – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 150m shifted wider on the track to maintain clear racing room.


RACE 6: RACING AGAIN FRI 21ST NOV OPEN HANDICAP 1200M
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing judges to confirm their placings after the photo finish camera malfunctioned. With the assistance of an alternate camera and the available replays the judge along with the stewards was satisfied that the placings declared were correct. Subsequently stewards declared correct weight.  
 
MASTER MONTARO – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
GO GETABOY – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
DIVINE OKAY – Began awkwardly. Shifted wider on the track near the 600m to improve. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FODOR – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted ground outwards when under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils on the second occasion. Trainer S Massingham was advised that under AR79(6) FODOR would now incur a lifetime ban from racing.  
 
FLYING SHAMUS – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
POET'S DAY – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result.
