GENERAL
 
Following an inspection Stewards upgraded the track to a good 4 at 12:08pm
 
Stewards permitted overweight’s as per the race day summary.
 
As jockey C McIver was not riding at today’s meeting due to illness, rider replacements were approved as per the race day summary.
 
Race 1 - LADBROKES SWITCH BM60 HANDICAP1800 M
 
TWIN TURBO – Carried wider passing the 600m by KAYLEEN’S PROFIT when that runner shifted outwards in an attempt to improve. When questioned regarding the performance of TWIN TURBO which performed below market expectations, jockey S Cormack stated that the gelding had been unsuited to the slow tempo of the event in the early stages, in combination with being carried wider leaving the 600m when the tempo quickened which proved detrimental to the geldings chances over the concluding stages.
SHINY LOVE (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of EAGLE WARRIOR entering the home straight and stepped outwards abruptly as a result making contact with CHANCE which became briefly unbalanced. Laid inwards over the final 100m.
KAYLEEN'S PROFIT (NZ) – Shifted outwards passing the 600m in an attempt to improve carrying TWIN TURBO wider.
CHANCE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing at Bowen on the 15th of August and was cleared to start Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward passing the 1400m to race outside the leader. Bumped entering the home straight by SHINY LOVE (NZ) and was briefly unbalanced.
 

Race 2 - LADBROKES PLACE EXTRA CLASS 3 HANDICAP1560 M
 
HOU LONG GWAI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start after becoming fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping with MARAVILLAS.
MY SPY – Jumped out at the start bumping with INTREPID LAD. Momentarily inconvenienced when crossed by MARAVILLIS near the 1400m. Jockey A Sewell (MARAVILLAS) was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground. Raced keenly in the early stages.
INTREPID LAD – Jumped out at the start bumping with INTREPID LAD.
MARAVILLAS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing at Bowen on the 15th of August and was cleared to start. Bumped on jumping when ELITE GATHERING jumped inward and HOU LONG GWAI jumped out. Near the 1400m shifted inwards inconveniencing MY SPY.
DWAYNE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing at Emerald on the 17th of August and was cleared to start. Put in an awkward stride near the 400m and was not fully tested for the remainder of the race. Apprentice G Semmens reported that in her opinion DWAYNE may not have handled the quick back up after racing at Emerald on the 17th of August. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
ELITE GATHERING – Jumped inwards at the start and bumped with MARAVILLAS. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
MAYOR OF KINGSTON – Shifted wider passing the 600m to attempt to improve. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.


Race 3 - IRON MAINTENANCE QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP1100 M
 
The start of this race was delayed due to DAVOS proving reluctant to load
DAVOS – Hampered on jumping when CINCHICATED shifted inwards. Trainer M McGuire was advised that a warning would be placed on DAVOS’s record for being reluctant to load.
JONKER ROCKET – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly noticeably throughout the event. Raced wide throughout.
THE HOUSE – Jumped in at the start, and when being corrected ran out inconveniencing STORMYBOB. Raced wide in the middle stages.
STORMYBOB – Raced keenly in the early stages. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainer K Miller advised that STORMYBOB had drawn more favorably today than in its most recent starts and as such was able to obtain a better run in transit.
EXO MISS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages Laid outwards under riding carrying SCOTCH ROCKET wider near the 200m.
REVES TIME – Slow into stride. Buffeted for some distance near the 250m when attempting a narrow run between DAVOS and EXO MISS.
CINCHICATED – Shifted in on jumping crowding DAVOS which had to steady. When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance of CINCHICATED apprentice N Olzard reported that that the filly had little to offer and was disappointing over the concluding stages.
SCOTCH ROCKET – Carried wider on the track near the 200m when EXO MISS laid outwards.

Race 4 - CHERYL GREEN SKIN SOCIETY TANNING AND BEAUTY QTIS MAIDEN HANDICAP1300 M
 
MANOFTHELAND – Began awkwardly bumping NOBLE LEGACY. Raced 3-wide without cover throughout. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay outwards under pressure in the home straight.
SHEFFLIN – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin. Laid inwards in the early stages of the home straight.
SAILING SOLO – Began awkwardly bumping NOBLE LEGACY and shortly after bumped by HOT LUCI. Laid inwards under pressure over the final 200m.
BESTOV – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing at Emerald on the 17th of August and was cleared to start. Laid inwards passing the 250m and then disappointed for a run near the 150m when SAILING SOLO laid inwards.
HOT LUCI – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing at Bowen on the 15th of August and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and bumped with SAILING SOLO. Raced 3-wide with cover throughout. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
BALKAN MELODY – Began awkwardly and shifted out shortly after the start
NOBLE LEGACY – Jumped outwards at the start bumping with SAILING SOLO then buffeted for a distance to the inside of MANOFTHELAND and lost ground.
BALLANDELLA STREET – Was declared a late scratching at 2:03pm after a veterinary examination found the gelding to be displaying lameness in the right foreleg. Trainer David Jones was advised that veterinary clearance would be required prior to BALLANDELLA STREET next racing.
TIGER ROCKET – Very slow to begin and failed to muster early speed.



Race 5 - MANDY ATHERTON - THE PROFFESSIONALS - BM55 HANDICAP1100 M
 
FIVE STAR KING – Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
MELO MELO KAVA – Bumped with TOABE on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages.
WHATTA MISSION – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after not competing for an extended period and was cleared to start.
ME TIME – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after not competing for an extended period and was cleared to start.
BREECHES – Bumped at the start with BETTY BOOM. Bumped passing the 500m when BETTY BOOM was inclined to hang outwards.
ARANCIA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing at Bowen on the 15th of August and was cleared to start.
BETTY BOOM – Began awkwardly and bumped with BREECHES, losing ground. Hung outwards rounding the first turn inconveniencing TOABE. Raced ungenerously throughout. Raced in restricted room passing the 500m when inclined to hang outwards, bumping with BREECHES. Upon returning to scales jockey A Sewell reported that his mount may not have appreciated a tight turning track and advised trainer L Manzelmann to look for alternative track moving forward. Trainer L Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the mares’ racing manners. Jockey A Sewell was reminded of his obligation with respect to his use of the whip on consecutive strides prior to the 200m.
TOABE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after competing at Bowen on the 15th of August and was cleared to start. Bumped with MELO MELO KAVA at the start.



Race 6 - RACING AGAIN THURSDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER BM70 HANDICAP1200 M
 
BOOMING LAD – Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight.
HOT DIGITY BOOM – Began awkwardly. Placed awkwardly on the heels of FLYING SHAMUS momentarily when that runner was carried wider by LUCKY LASS rounding the home turn.Jockey N Thomas (LUCKY LASS) was advised to take care when in similar circumstances. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the home straight.
THE EXTREME CAT – Crowded and had to momentarily steady near the 200m when inside ZAYA which shifted in and away from DETERMINATION. Given all circumstances jockey T Fenlon (ZAYA) was reprimanded under AR131(a) for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount shifting ground.
DETERMINATION – Began awkwardly.
OUR MISSILE – Fractious in the barriers immediately prior to the start. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn before obtaining clear running near the 200m. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure once obtaining clear racing room from the 200m.
LUCKY LASS – Began awkwardly. Shifted out to improve rounding the final turn carrying FLYING SHAMUS out placing HOT DIGITY BOOM awkwardly on heels momentarily.
FLYING SHAMUS – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted inwards near the 900m when insufficiently clear of HE’S THE ONE resulting in that runner having to steady. Carried wider rounding the home turn by LUCKY LASS. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the home straight.
HE'S THE ONE – Began awkwardly. Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Had to steady momentarily passing the 900m when awkwardly near the heels of FLYING SHAMUS which shifted in when not fully clear. Given all circumstances apprentice A Meissner (FLYING SHAMUS) was reprimanded under AR131(a) and reminded of her obligations when crossing.
ZAYA – Shifted in passing the 200m crowding THE EXTREME CAT.
