KOONUNGA HILL – Trainer T. Rowe advised stewards that a subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have soreness in both front knees to which it is being treated for and will be sent for a spell. Mr Rowe was advised a veterinary clearance of soundness must be provided prior to its next barrier trial or race.
General:
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions the following riders were permitted to ride their respective mounts .5kg over the allotted minimum weight:
Race 1, S. Wilson – Arawelo, M. Abe – She’s Atop Porsche
Race 1: MAREEBA MAZDA QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 900 Metres
ARAWELO – Slow to begin.
EMMA ROCKET – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
PAMILL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 2: GRAHAM HOTEL MAREEBA BRACELET BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1010 Metres
FLUTTERING – Slow to begin.
INDY SHOWGIRL – Slow to begin.
SET TO SIZZLE – Shifted in abruptly shortly after the start before being corrected.
LABRUSCO – Shifted wider leaving the 600 metres to improve.
Race 3:STALLANS SECURITY CLASS B HANDICAP – 1123 Metres
CAIERON – Delayed the start significenty when fractious in its preliminary dislodging rider A. Thomson entering the course proper, galloped some distance before being declared a late scratching at 3.10pm by order of stewards.On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on CAIERON were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 27 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 19 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Trainer L Reys was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again. Rider A. Thomson was examined by the Qld Ambulance Medical Officers which revealed bruising to her forehead. Jockey Thomson was advised she must provide a medical clearance prior to her next race riding engagement. A post-race veterinary examination of CAIERON revealed no significant abnormalities other than exhaustion.
AHRI'S AMORE –Began awkwardly and shifted out tightening CAT IN THE RAINE.
FIRST SLIP –Began awkwardly and shifted in tightening CAT IN THE RAINE. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
CAT IN THE RAINE – After being initially slow to begin was tightened for room and lost ground.
STYLE LINE – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the middle stages for a short distance. Shifted wider leaving the 600 metres.
Race 4: QUALITY SHEDS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres
SOUL SEARCHER – Due to a misunderstanding jockey S Wilson was dually engaged and was replaced by R. Shred. Tightened for room on jumping, was checked and lost ground. Shifted wider leaving the 600 metres to improve.
MURTALLICA – Began awkwardly and shifted out tightening SOUL SEARCHER.
FORGIATO (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted in tightening SOUL SEARCHER.
MUSICAL GIRL – Slow to begin.
SHIFTY SHAMUS – Slow to begin.Raced wide in the early and middle stages until improving forward and obtaining the lead leaving the 900 metres.
Race 5: PIMS MAREEBA CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 2000 Metres
THE GOOD THE BAD (NZ) – Slow to begin.
SUNNY COWBOY – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. Connections advised the gelding would be sent for an immediate spell.
REGAL HEART – Laid out passing the winning post on the first occasion.
