GENERAL
 
All riders submitted a random breath sample prior to their engagements providing a negative test result.  
 
The start of this meeting was delayed when the clerk of the course was late to arrive due to transportation difficulties.
 
RACE 1: LANGLEY PLUMBING MAIDEN PLATE – 900 Metres
]
HARDLY FABIO – As it’s the gelding’s first official race start it underwent a pre-race vet check and was cleared to race. Proved difficult to load delaying the start. Trainer M. Taylor was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Slow into stride.
 
VERY GOOD – As it’s the filly’s first official race start it underwent a pre-race vet check and was cleared to race. Restrained off heels approaching the 400 metres. Obliged to shift out around heels to obtain clear running approaching the 100 metres.
 
JAYJAY'S A STAR – As it’s the mare’s first official race start it underwent a pre-race vet check and was cleared to race. Delayed the start when refused to load. Declared a late scratching at 1.36pm by order of stewards. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on JAYJAY’S A STAR were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to 1.36pm:

16 cents in the dollar for the win VERY GOOD. 
14 cents in the dollar for the place of winner VERY GOOD.  
14 cents in the dollar for 2nd place URIS.
14 cents in the dollar for 3rd place POINT TWO.   
 
Trainer J. Ball was advised a further barrier certificate would be required prior to the mare’s next race start.
 
PROPER BENDER – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. Trainer A. Malliff was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners. Slow to begin.
 
BALLROOM BOSS – Slow into stride.
 
URIS – Inclined to shift ground under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
WHAT A SHOW – Raced wide for the majority.
 
BUBBLE TEA – Raced wide for the majority.
 
POINT TWO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the off foreleg. Co trainer P. Rowe advised stewards it is his intention that the mare be retired.
Nonetheless stewards advised Mr Rowe that should circumstances change a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to the mare trialing or racing again.
 
RACE 2: REDS JOINERY QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP – 1123 Metres

MISSY LYN – Slow into stride.
 
FIND MY CALM – Slow into stride.
 
BEAUTIFUL LIES – Slow into stride.
 
ZORAYDAH (NZ) – Slow into stride.
 
LASER BEAM – Shifted wider to improve approaching the 150 metres. When questioned in relation to the gelding’s improved performance trainer A. Malliff advised the removal of the blinkers and tongue tie following its most recent start was in his opinion a major contributing factor. His explanation was noted.
 
WONG WAY – Jockey N. Yadi reported to stewards that the gelding was inclined to lay in throughout proving difficult to ride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
RACE 3: GRAHAM HOTEL MAREEBA BRACELET BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1210 Metres
 
DREAMWOMAN – Slow to begin. Apprentice jockey T. Leslight reported the mare was inclined to over race in the middle stages.
 
SKYWRITER – Slow into stride. Correct weight was delayed enabling jockey R. Shred to view the photo finish print between third and fourth. After viewing the print she was satisfied with the judges decision.  
 
PREMIUM STAR – Inclined to shift ground over the concluding stages when under pressure. Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained superficial lacerations to both hind legs. Trainer A. Malliff was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness will be required prior to the gelding trialing or racing again.
 
AGLOT – Unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.
 
RACE 4: QUALITY SHEDS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres
 
TOMYDONKA – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. Commenced to lose ground near the 500 metres and was eased out of the race approaching the 200 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer A. Malliff advised it is his intention that the gelding be retired. Mr. Malliff was advised however that if circumstances change it will need to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.
 
ELSPHERE – Restrained in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the inside rail.
 
KELLISA – Jockey L. Morrison reported that the mare was inclined to over race for the majority of the race. Was disappointed when attempting a narrow run near the 200 metres to the inside of THE COPS (Jockey I. Fry) which shifted in momentarily before being corrected.
 
THE COPS – Shifted in momentarily near the 200 metres inconveniencing KELLISA (Jockey L. Morrison). Jockey I. Fry was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Was inclined to shift ground under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
RACE 5: PIMS MAREEBA CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 2000 Metres
 
Trainer Mr. Josh Manzelmann was asked to explain the reason why TRIGGERIFIC was scratched from today’s race. Mr. Manzelmann explained that the gelding was shod recently and had become mildly lame requiring treatment, after acceptances, which necessitated its withdrawal from the race. His explanation was accepted.

Jockey L. Morrison was dislodged during a track gallop following the last race. Miss Morrison was treated by QAS officials and transported to Mareeba hospital for further observation. Stewards will inquire into the reasons at a time and date to fixed.
