SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Cairns 20 December 2025 - Race 4: MILLER RACING / BAILEY RACING QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP – 1250M - (NORDIC INVADER).
Trainer S. Massingham advised stewards as well as having blood samples taken for analysis, it was further identified through a veterinary examination of NORDIC INVADER that the gelding was suffering minor muscle soreness in its back and upper rump area. Trainer Massingham was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding’s next race start or trial.
GENERAL:
In consultation with the Mareeba Turf Club Officials and racing participants at today’s meeting, the official race start times of the program were brought forward due to local weather forecasts of impending heavy rain/storms. Race 1 – 1.15pm; Race 2 – 1.40pm; Race 3 – 2.05pm; Race 4 – 2.30pm and Race 5 – 2.55pm.
Permitted Overweight’s:
Race 2: C. Meehan (GAMADALE NIP) +0.5kg.
Race 4: App. Ms. L. Guernier (MAKANUI) +0.5kg (to her declared riding weight).
RACE 1: RADIO 4AM BENCHMARK 50 Handicap – 900M:
AIRBORNE HOTDOG – Broke through the front of barriers prior to the start, cantered a short distance until reined in near the 800M. On returning to the barriers the gelding underwent a veterinary examination and passed fit to start.
REEMYA (NZ) – Slow to begin.
CULLIVEL – Slow to begin.
THREEBOTHERS – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 2: KBAM JUMP AND RUN OPEN Plate – 1123M:
GAMADALE NIP – As Jockey C. Meehan was unable to make the declared riding weight he was replaced by Ms. A. Thomson. Jockey C. Meehan subsequently pleaded guilty to being unable to make the allotted weight and was fined $100.00 under the provisions of AR 190(3). Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
INJADA – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Had difficulties in obtaining clear running from leaving the 500 metres up until near the 50 metres.
LUCKY ROLLA – Over-raced in the middle stages of the race.
RACE 3: SERRA DRILLING QTIS Maiden Plate – 1210M:
THIRD MASTER – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
LICHFIELD ANGEL – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.
MONTANA EXPRESS – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
RACE 4: RUSSO’S QUALITY MEATS RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 Handicap – 1210M:
MAJESTIC BLAZE – Slow to begin.
GUAPO – Commenced to throw its head in the air when leaving the 1100 metres for a short distance.
ROSE OF ATHENS – Was checked near the 100 metres when tightened for room between BUFFET BUSTER which shifted in and TOSINSKY which slightly shifted out.
BUFFET BUSTER – Approaching the 100 metres shifted in abruptly under pressure before being corrected tightening the running of ROSE OF ATHENS who had to be checked. Whilst stewards noted Ms. Thomsons effort to straighten her mount she was nonetheless severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care when her mount begins to shift ground. Raced three wide for the majority of the race.
TOSINSKY – Approaching the 100 metres shifted out marginally after being brushed on the hind quarters by ROSE OF ATHENS which shifted inwards.
PAR FIVE – Compounded leaving the 500 metres. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
RACE 5: GREG SCLIPPA SOLICITOR BENCHMARK 55 Handicap – 1500M:
Correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey/Trainer Ms. R. Shred to view the available film footage over the concluding stages of the race. After viewing the footage Ms. Shred did not wish to proceed and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers.
NAPPA VALLEY – Slow to begin.
ON THE QUIET – Anticipated the start and began awkwardly. Shifted wider leaving the 600 metres. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
FLOURISH – Shifted out approaching the winning post brushing with MOHAWK WARRIOR which shifted in marginally.
MOHAWK WARRIOR – Shifted in marginally approaching the winning post brushing with FLOURISH which shifted out.
