Race 1: Maiden Plate 900 metres:
1st – MISS BEAUJOLAIS 2nd – SCHOONER 3rd – LUCKY APACHE 4th – PURFLEET PRINCESS
MESSINES ROSE – After beginning vey awkwardly, shifted out abruptly crowding runners to its outside.
SCHOONER – Was crowded between runners on jumping. Trainer Ms. K North reported that after leaving the course the gelding was found to be lame in the off fore leg. Ms. North was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
TIME AND CHANCE - Was crowded between runners on jumping.
VEGANER – Shifted in on jumping and bumped with another runner.
MADE TO WIN – Was caught wide throughout after being slowly into stride.
LACH’S POCKET – Jockey T Brummell reported that the gelding had been inclined to hang out for the majority of the event placing him at a disadvantage. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr. K Krogh was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
Race 2: Benchmark 60 Handicap 900 metres:
1st – MOSSALE 2nd – WORLD OF PAIN 3rd – TARA IRONWOD 4th – SETH
FAST ANNIE – Began awkwardly after becoming fractious in the barriers. Was inclined to race ungenerously in the middle stages due to resenting the kickback.
I’M DESPERATE TOO – Was slowly into stride.
KELCHEZ – Lost ground when crowded between runners soon after jumping.
FLAMINGO ROSE – Was inclined to over-race after being crossed by another runner near the 800 metres. Jockey K Aho reported that the mare had resented the kickback throughout.
TUNING – Had to be restrained when racing in restricted room near the 800 metres. Raced wide for the remainder of the event.
SPLASH OUT – Had to be restrained after improving onto heels near the 600 metres.
Race 3: Class B Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – BEA BINGLE 2nd – HAPPY TO BE HERE 3rd – AKHEILOS 4th – COPPER COIN
DASHING DUB – Lost ground at the start after beginning very awkwardly and crowding runners to its outside.
CRYSTAL COURT - Was crowded between runners on jumping. Raced ungenerously throughout due to resenting the kickback.
CARRY TO GOLD - Was crowded between runners on jumping.
COPPER COIN - Was crowded between runners on jumping.
FIRST PAIGE – Shifted in on jumping and bumped with another runner.
AKHEILOS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
BEA BINGLE – Jockey T Chambers was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR137A for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres.
Race 4: Open Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – COURT ACTION 2nd – AVALANCHES 3rd – FOREWARNED 4th – SNAZZY SOX
MASATAKA – Was slowly away.
COURT ACTION – Was buffeted between runners shortly after jumping.
SNAZZY SOX – Was inclined to hang out for a short distance near the 800 metres. Raced wide for the remainder of the event.
MINTARO – Jockey J Babarovich reported that the gelding had been inclined to hang out for the majority of the event placing him at a disadvantage. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr. G Tipping was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
Race 5: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – DIURNAL TIGER 2nd – BUSH LAWYER 3rd – ROMANTICIZE 4th – SUBOSAMI
SERENE ROCKET – Refused to jump. Missed the start 6 lengths. Trainer Mr. J Bawden was advised that the mare would be required to perform one (1) satisfactory trial prior to being permitted to race again.
AZUSA – Was crowded between runners shortly after jumping. Jockey K Aho reported that the mare had resented the kickback throughout.
ROMANTICIZE – Had to be restrained near the 500 metres when awkwardly placed inside the heels of another runner which had shifted in when marginally clear.
DIURNAL TIGER – Shifted in when marginally clear near the 500 metres inconveniencing another runner. Jockey T Hill was instructed to excercise more care in similar circumstances.
