Race 1: BRODIE & CO BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 900 metres

FORGOTTEN BOW – Proved difficult to load. Bumped by BIG TALK on jumping. Raced wide in the middle stages. Trainer D Finter was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.

GIRL ON TOP – Shifted out on jumping bumping with WICKED WILLY. Resented the kick back in the middle stages.

WICKED WILLY – Slowly away after bumping with GIRL ON TOP.

BIG TALK – Shifted out on jumping bumping with FORGOTTEN BOW. Raced wide in the middle stages. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed which revealed the gelding to have lost its nearside front plate in the running.

BEL’S DESIRE – Raced wide in the middle stages.

SEVEN YEAR REWARD – Raced wide in the middle stages.



Race 2: CUSTOM STEEL FAB KEVIN MALONE MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1100 metres

SHOOT BIG – Became fractious in the parade yard dislodging Jockey J Hoopert. After declaring himself fit to continue, Jockey Hoopert proceeded with the gelding onto the course proper where it attempted to buck for some distance. Proved difficult to load. Was severely hampered on jumping after RIVERSIDE BLUES shifted in sharply and commenced to race greenly for a short distance thereafter. Trainer Miss D Ballard was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

RIVERSIDE BLUES – Shifted in sharply on jumping severely hampering SHOOT BIG. Resented the kick back in the middle stages shifting wider as a result.

ISIS TURBO – Inclined to lay in through the early stages.

THE APPOINTED TIME – Raced wide in the middle stages.



Race 3: NIVERAK SMASH REPAIRS/DIAMOND HELICOPTERS CLASS 6 PLATE 1100 metres

FLASH HOMBRE – Knuckled on jumping.

TEDDY MERCURY – Bumped with LORD GREYSTROKE soon after jumping.

LORD GREYSTROKE – Bumped with TEDDY MERCURY soon after jumping.

FULL OF FIRE – Trainer S Royes was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR106(1) in that gelding was presented for inspection with the incorrect saddle cloth fitted. Raced wide in the middle stages. Jockey J Felix was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR227(a) in that he sent his saddle with the incorrect saddle cloth fitted.

ROCKETHEAD – Stood flat footed as the start was affected losing considerable ground. After viewing the patrol footage it was ascertained that a barrier attendant still had a hold of the mare as the barriers opened, however stewards were of the belief that the mare was directing its head toward the ground as the Starter affected the start of the race and as such were of the opinion that the mare’s barrier manners played a significant role in the incident. As such ROCKETHEAD could not be declared and non-runner and correct weight was declared.



Race 4: CLEMMENTS ELECTRICAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1200 metres

PURE RUBICK – Began awkwardly shifting outwards and bumping with INJUSTICE which subsequently bumped with HOPE AS ALWAYS. Shifted out near the 1150m bumping with HOPE AS ALWAYS and causing that runner to become unbalanced.

INJUSTICE – Was bumped by PURE RUBICK soon after jumping.

HOPE AS ALWAYS – Was bumped soon after the start by INJUSTICE. Became unbalanced near the 1150m after being bumped by PURE RUBICK which shifted out.

MY BOY SOOTY – Raced wide in the middle stages.

SPOTTED WONDER – Jockey D Ballard pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(b) in that he failed to ride SPOTTED WONDER out to the end of the race which in the opinion of Stewards, cost the gelding 3rd place. Jockey Ballard was fined the sum of $500 and advised of his right to internal review.



Race 5: BURKE SHIRE CUP/OUTBACK RACING SHOWCASE (HEAT) OPEN HANDICAP 1200 metres

FAVRA – Slowly away. Shifted wider near the 1150m to avoid the kick back and continued to race wide for some distance.


Race 6: ALMORA STATION BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1450 metres

SNIPPY STRATEGIC – Shifted out on jumping bumping with KING LANDON (NZ). Tired noticeably over the concluding stages.

KING LANDON (NZ) – After beginning only fairly, was unable to maintain touch with the remainder of the field in the early and middle stages. The gelding however, did finish the race strongly. Jockey J Felix advised that the gelding did not respond to his riding throughout. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

FA FA – Raced wide for the majority.

MYOLA MILLY – Raced wide for the majority.
