OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – S. Copelin.
Steward – P. Gillard.

Race 1: MEDITERRANEAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE BENCHMARK 60 Handicap – 1450M

THE LAST CRUSADE – Raced three wide with no cover in the middle stages.

ZOUHOPE – Raced three wide with no cover for the majority of the race. Lost off-fore plate in running.

GULF OF SIDRA – Raced close to the lead until near the 600 metres where it commenced to compound and finished tailed off. Jockey David Sparkes stated the gelding failed to respond to his riding leaving the 600 metres and as a result, he did not test the gelding over the concluding stages. A pre-race veterinary examination revealed GULF OF SIDRA to be mildly dehydrated but failed to identify any significant abnormalities. Connections were advised a warning was issued on the gelding for its un-competitive racing manners.

DEFINITELY FAMOUS – The saddle shifted back shortly after the start placing rider J. Babarovich at a disadvantage and shifted in near the 600 metres placing BELLEOFTHEHUNTER in restricted racing room and causing that mare to be restrained and lose ground.

Race 3: AUSTRALIAN NAVY OPEN Handicap – 1100M

JETSKI – A pre-race veterinary examination subsequently passed the gelding fit to race. Slow to begin and raced wide for the majority of the race.

NOBLE VALOUR – Slow to begin

SEABEE – Raced ungenerously in the early stages and as a result raced wide in the middle stages. Stewards noted rider App. Ms. K. Baker exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ 2) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.

BEGORRA – App. T Wheeler was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out over the concluding stages to the finish line.
