GENERAL
 
1.    Prior to the meeting, Apprentice Jockey Maddie Mankelow notified Stewards that she would be unable to fulfil her riding engagements due to illness. As a result, Stewards approved rider replacements as outlined in the Stewards Race Day Summary. Apprentice Mankelow was advised that a medical clearance must be provided before she is permitted to resume riding.
2.    Stewards accepted the explanations for Trainers Kerry Krogh and Shryn Royes for the late declarations of their respective riders.
 
 
Race 1: CNW MAILMAN EXPRESS COMING SOON MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

CHARGRILL – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping with MONTE AZUL (NZ) causing that runner to be buffeted for a short distance. Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
COMBS – Shifted out on jumping causing MONTE AZUL (NZ) to be buffeted. Raced wide throughout.
 
OUTCAST SOLDIER – Raced wide throughout. Hung in over the concluding stages.
 
MONTE AZUL (NZ) – Buffeted for a short distance shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
UP TO US – Bumped heavily with ROSEBERRY TERRACE on jumping.
 
ROSEBERY TERRACE – Slipped on jumping then bumped heavily with UP TO US. Ran wide making the home turn.
 
POLLY ROSE – Gave ground over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 2: MITECH KUBOTA RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1450M

DECEMBER SKY – Finished distanced from the field. Trainer Tanya Parry was advised not to start the gelding at a TAB meeting until she is satisfied DECEMBER SKY would be competitive.
 
REGAL JUDGEMENT – Slow to begin from a wide barrier. Raced wide without cover throughout. Approaching the 900 metres, bumped heavily with DANGEREUSE resulting in rider Robert Faehr becoming momentarily unbalanced. Stewards noted rider Robert Faehr exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+2) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use, no further action was taken.
 
DANGEREUSE – Bumped heavily with REGAL JUDGEMENT passing the 900 metres.
 
SOLAR SERT – Raced wide without cover throughout. Lost its near front shoe at the 250 metres.
 
Race 3: SECURE MINING SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1450 M
 
BREAKING GROUND – Began awkwardly.
 
DECLASSIFY – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to start. Slow into stride. Following the event, a post-race veterinary examination found presence of blood in one nostril. DECLASSIFY shall before racing again be required to undergo a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a steward under the provisions of AR 79(8).
 
GARDENZIO – Slow to begin from a wide barrier. Raced wide throughout. When questioned on the performance, rider Micheal McDonald stated that GARDENEZIO resented the kick back in the back straight, however the gelding also failed to stretch out over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BENEVENTO – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages resulting in Apprentice Tom Orr having to stop riding and straighten his mount approaching the 100 metres.
 
PENNYPACKER – Resented the kickback in the early stages and threw its head in the air as a result. Raced wide throughout.
 
THE LAST CRUSADE – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: CITY COUNTRY REALITY OPEN HANDICAP 1000M

HAN DYNASTY – Passing the 600 metres, was tightened for room and lost ground when VIBURNUM shifted in when not clear. Gained 1st placing on Protest.
 
HURTLE – Dipped passing the 800 metres and lost ground.
 
VIBURNUM – Approaching the 600 metres, shifted in when not clear of HAN DYNASTY resulting in that runner being tightened, losing ground. Relegated to 2nd placing on Protest.
Rider David Sparks pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that approaching the 600 metres, VIBURNUM shifted in when insufficiently clear of HAN DYNASTY (Nick Palmer), resulting in HAN DYNASTY being tightened for room and losing ground. After consideration of all relevant factors, Rider Sparks’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, with the suspension commence at midnight on Saturday, 19th July 2025, and conclude at midnight on Saturday 26th July 2025.
 
WICKLOW LASS (NZ) – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
 
On returning to scale, Apprentice Rider Nick Palmer, rider of 2nd placegetter HAN DYNASTY, in the presence of senior Rider Robert Faehr, advised that he wished to lodge an objection against 1st placegetter VIBURNUM alleging interference approaching the 600 metres. After consideration of all relevant factors including evidence from the respective riders and connections, along with vision of the event, Stewards upheld the protest and declared correct weight on the new numbers 1-4-5-2.
 
Race 5: STEEJO PRESS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP         1200M
 
FROZEN PRINCE – Laid out rounding the final turn.
 
THE TYLER – Hampered approaching the 600 metres when PROJECT XERO had to be steadied. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
JOY MCCOY (NZ) – Resented the kickback in the back straight and lost considerable ground.
 
PANDA DRUM – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
PROJECT XERO – Improved on to the heels of FROZEN PRINCE approaching the 600 metres and had to be steadied.
 
SANTORINI SUN – Raced wide throughout.
 
THE BOI – Slow into stride.
 
AFFIRMATIVE LIGHT – Stewards noted apprentice Rider Chloe Lowe exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+3) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use, no further action was taken.
 
SNIPILLICIOUS – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: NQES INDUSTRIES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 900M

POLLY HOFFA – Slow into stride.
 
HELLARAMA – Raced wide throughout.
 
CARD BOARD CUT OUT – Had to be steadied passing the 600 metres when HELLARAMA shifted in when insufficiently clear. Rider Shane McGovern (HELLARAMA) was reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised to take greater care when in similar circumstances. Raced wide throughout.
 
AUSTRAL DIAMOND – Apprentice Rider Mitch Goring advised that Stewards that he would be unable to claim his full allowance due to being dehydrated and was subsequently replaced by Apprentice Rider Tom Orr. After considering all relevant factors, Rider Goring was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 143(14)(b). AUSTRAL DIAMOND proved difficult to load. Trainer Shryn Royes was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s record. Began awkwardly.
 
HAVEABEERFORTED – Refused to leave the barriers on jumping and as a result took no competitive part in the event. Trainer Tanya Parry was advised the gelding must obtain a barrier certificate prior to racing again. Trainer Parry advised that she would remove the tongue tie before the mares next race start.
 
BITTERBLUE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 7: THE BOSS SHOP QTIS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1000M

DANCE WIZZARD – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Rider Michael McDonald was harmlessly dislodged on return to the mounting enclosure.
 
TRICKETEER – Shifted out on jumping and bumped with TORONADO ROUGE.
 
ZAVABOOM – Apprentice Rider Mitch Goring dropped his whip passing the 200 metres. Raced wide throughout.
 
LAST DITCH EFFORT – Shifted in on jumping hampering ROGUE ‘N’ READY. Raced wide throughout.
 
TORONADO ROUGE – Bumped on jumping.
 
WINDORAH – Raced wide throughout.
 
CURRY LEGEND – Blundered on jumping. Apprentice Rider Tom Orr dropped his whip passing the 200 metres.
 
ROGUE 'N' READY – Hampered on jumping. Raced in restricted room for a distance shortly after the start.
