GENERAL
Prior to scratching time, the following runners were scratched due to no rider being available:

Race 1: NHP CLASSIC RATINGS BAND 0-55 Handicap 1450M
COMBS – Raced wide without cover throughout.
FAR REACHING – Raced wide from the 800 metres.
REGAL JUDGEMENT – Began only fairly. Had to be restrained off heels for a considerable distance in the back straight when racing keenly. Laid out rounding the final turn.
ZOUHOPE – Very slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
GROOVE CITY – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
Race 2: TEAM CNW MOUNT ISA Class 6 Plate 1450M
BENEVENTO – Laid in shortly after the start crowding SUPER STORY. Passing the 1400 metres, again laid in and heavily bumped SUPER STORY, which was taken in onto ARDEN GREEN. Raced wide throughout. Hung in throughout the race and raced ungenerously over the final 250 metres.
BREAKING GROUND – Was declared at late scratching at 1:19pm on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in the barriers after being loaded and dislodging its rider. Jockey Nor Yadi was assessed by QAS officers and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on BREAKING GROUND be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – PANDA DRUM – 0c win, 4c place
2nd – BENEVENTO – 2c place
Trainer Peter Inwood was advised that BREAKING GROUND must now requalify with respect to its barrier certificate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed superficial injuries to the front left limb. Trainer Inwood was further advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again.
ARDEN GREEN – Taken in by SUPER STORY after passing the 1400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
PANDA DRUM – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the improved performance of PANDA DRUM, Trainer Denise Ballard stated that PANDA DRUMS racing pattern is to race back in the field however the gelding resents the kickback. Trainer Ballard issues specific instructions to apprentice rider Maddie Mankelow to ride the gelding wide on the track in today’s event to avoid the same. Stewards noted Trainer Ballard’s explanation.
SUPER STORY – Crowded shortly after the start. Heavily bumped by BENEVENTO passing 1400 metres.
Race 3: CNW ELECTRICAL Maiden Plate 1100M
CHARGRILL – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
MIDORI FOREST – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
SCHOOL FEES – Began awkwardly.
EROTAS – Raced wide in the middle stages.
KOUKLITSA – Hung in over the final 250 metres.
SKIP A BEAT – Trainer Tanya Parry was fined $200.00 under the provisions of AR106(1) for presenting SKIP A BEAT with the incorrect saddle cloth number. SKIP A BEAT was declared at late scratching at 1:58pm after refusing to load into the barriers. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on SKIP A BEAT be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – CHARGILL – 20c win, 24c place
2nd – UP TO US – 24c place
Trainer Tanya Parry was advised that SKIP A BEAT must now requalify with respect to its barrier certificate.
Race 4: CNW MAILMAN CUP OPEN Handicap 1200M
HAN DYNASTY – Dipped passing the 700 metres. Raced wide throughout.
MR METRICS – Became fractious when parading behind the barriers prior to the start.
VICTORY BAY – Dipped passing the 700 metres. Raced wide throughout.
Race 5: CNW BILL BRADEN MEMORIAL Class 3 Plate 1000M
LAST DITCH EFFORT – Raced wide throughout.
DANCE WIZZARD – Raced wide throughout.
HEAVENLY LEGEND – Blundered on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
TORONADO ROUGE – Raced wide throughout.
ROGUE ‘N’ READY – Raced wide throughout.
When reviewing Stewards patrol film vision of the event it was established that TORONADO ROUGE (Jockey S McGovern) and ROGUE ‘N’ READY (Apprentice N Palmer) after being loaded last into the barriers simultaneously, had started from transposed barriers. It was confirmed that TORONADO ROUGE had started from barrier seven, and ROGUE ‘N’ READY had started from barrier six, instead of the reverse. It was noted that neither horse was disadvantaged because of this and both finished outside of the placings. The Club Starter was shown vision of the start and firmly reminded of his obligations. Apprentice N Palmer and Jockey S McGovern were also advised of their responsibility to ensure they filled their correct barriers.
Race 6: CABLEMAKERS QTIS Class 1 Handicap 1200M
MAKEMINEMILO – Contacted the side of the barriers on jumping away. Became awkwardly placed near the hind quarters of TENGUN ANNIE approaching the 150 metres, and shortly after had to be steadied when TENGUN ANNIE laid out abruptly. Passing the 100 metres, shifted to the outside of HELLARAMA to obtain clear running.
GLASSOUT – Slow to begin. It had to be steadied approaching the 150 metres when placed in restricted room.
AFFIRMATIVE LIGHT – Raced wide throughout.
HELLARAMA – Laid in over the final 200 metres.
HOWSE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began only fairly. On returning to scale, rider Robert Faehr stated that HOWSE did not appreciate the kickback when racing back in the field.
POLLY HOFFA – Bumped with GEOFF AND JENNY on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
BEGORA – Raced wide throughout.
TENGUN ANNIE – Laid out passing the 150 metres, resulting in MAKEMINEMILO having to be steadied. Rider Nor Yadi was advised to exercise more care when racing in similar circumstances.
WITHOUT – Shifted in approaching the 150 metres, resulting in GLASSOUT having to be steadied. Rider David Sparks was advised to exercise more care when racing in similar circumstances.
GEOFF AND JENNY – Bumped with POLLY HOFFA on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
Race 7: SCHNEIDER CLASSIC RATINGS BAND 0-60 Handicap 1200M
CHASETON – Began awkwardly.
TAKERU – Bounded in the air on jumping.
SEIRYU – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
SANTORINI SUN – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider Brooke Stower could offer no real explanation other than that the mare raced disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

PROJECT XERO – Raced wide throughout.
THE BOI – Shifted out on jumping bumping SANTORINI SUN.
