SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
GENERAL
Rider M Gray was indisposed and did not attend the meeting; he was replaced on the following horses.:
Race 2 Cup of Ambition – N Yadi
Race 3 Busterkick – N Yadi
Race 4 Moon Over Matilda – N Yadi
The following horses were scratched at 11.00 a.m. due to no available rider -:
Race 1- Up To Us, Helluvapunch, Capricious Belle, Noble Ruby, Yes Ma.
Race 2 - Manic Light, Affirmative Light, Kwik Az Hell, Polly Hoffa, Without, Snipilicious.
Race 3 - Leucaena, Outcast Soldier, Capricious Belle
Race 4 - Fortress Australia, October Revolution, Revved Up Ready, Ferrari Girl, Ilzoomya.
Race 5 - Tricketeer
Race 6 - Manic Light, Allezizzy, Magic Game
Trainer T Parry advised she was unable to contact jockey J Hoopert to confirm rides for him in Races 3 & 5 prior to departing from her stables on race morning and as such both runners were scratched in those races. Ms Parry also advised that as another float was required to transport these two runners and that this jockey booking needed to be confirmed prior to her departure from Julia Creek.
Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE 900 M
The start was delayed when TAKE A DIVE flipped backwards in the barriers and became momentarily cast, TAKE A DIVE underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching scratching at 1.15 p.m.
ROCK ON ANGEL which was in an adjacent barrier stall was kicked in the incident and examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon before being passed fit to start.
All monies invested on TAKE A DIVE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to the scratching:
23 cents in the dollar for the win – ROCK ON ANGEL
23 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - ROCK ON ANGEL
23 cents in the dollar for 2nd place – WILLY THE KID
No third dividend.
Trainer Ms S Royes was advised that she must obtain a further barrier certificate for TAKE A DIVE before racing again.
Race 2: BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 900 M
SWEET FANTASY - slow to begin.
THREEFOLD – cast an off-hind plate in running and tended to hang out in the middle stages.
Race 3: CLASS B HANDICAP 900 M
BUSTERKICK – slow into stride.
Race 4: OPEN HANDICAP 900 M
All remaining races were brought forward from the advertised starting time due to a pending heavy rainstorm noted on weather radar.
PERVADE (GB) – Blundered on jumping. Jockey C Meehan reported that the gelding tended to hang out in running.
LAST DITCH EFFORT – Apprentice A Heinrich reported that her mount was resenting the kickback and she elected to ease the horse wider on the track to avoid same.
Race 5: QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 900 M
TEQUILA DANCER – Slow to begin and raced wide. Bumped DANCE WIZARD which shifted out at the 600 metres.
VONK – Slow into stride. Rider N Yadi reported that the gelding had attempted to buck a short distance after the start.
DANCE WIZARD – Bumped with TEQUILA DANCER at the 600 metres. Apprentice A Heinrich was asked to comment on the gelding’s performance. She advised that DANCE WIZARD tended to hang out throughout the race and had failed to run on. Trainer T Parry reported that the gelding had a limited preparation due to recent adverse weather conditions and would benefit in condition from today’s race.
Heavy rain fell after the running of this race. Once the heavy rainstorm ceased, the track was inspected by Stewards and senior rider representative S McGovern and racing continued.
Race 6: QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1100 M
The three on- course bookmakers were unable to field on this race due to the heavy rainfall wetting their electrical equipment.
Following the heavy downpour the track rating was downgraded to – “Slow”.
MOON OVER MATILDA – Blundered on jumping and lost ground.
ZOUHOPE – Slow into stride.
TEEGUN ANNIE – Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
