STEWARDS REPORT

MOUNT ISA RACE CLUB

SATURDAY 14th MARCH 2026

WEATHER – Fine
TRACK RATING – Sand.
RAIL – True

OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – R Neal.

GENERAL;

1.    Following significant rainfall late on Friday morning which inundated the racing surface, the Mount Isa Race Club, in consultation with Stewards, determined that the commencement time for Saturday’s meeting be deferred until 3:00pm to allow the track sufficient time to recover. A contingency arrangement was also established whereby, should the track fail to recover adequately, the meeting would be transferred to Sunday, 15 March 2026.
          All participants were duly advised of this possibility, with a final determination to be made following a track inspection scheduled for 8:00am today.
          Upon inspection this morning, Stewards and Club officials found that the track had dried sufficiently, and the racing surface was considered suitable for racing.

2.    Horses were afforded some latitude during today’s meeting owing to new material having been applied to the racing surface during the week, which due to the intervening weather conditions, had not been able to be evenly distributed across all sections of the track. This resulting in the going near the rail being heavy in places.

LORD VALEN – inclined to lay in through the final straight. Apprentice Mitch Goring stated that LORD VALEN the gelding had come off the bridle when headed and that in his opinion the application of blinkers may assist the gelding’s competitiveness.
