SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

TOWNSVILLE JOCKEY CLUB – Tuesday 31st March 2026.
Post Race Trials

Stewards have concluded an investigation relating to Trainer Ms. Belynda Kliese presenting the incorrect horse for Trial 3 at Townsville on Tuesday 31st March 2026.
The inquiry, which was commenced on Tuesday 31st, was reconvened on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, where it was established that Ms. Kliese, who had purchased the filly DARK FAE via an online sale in February 2026, had nominated DARK FAE for the trials believing this was the correct horse. However, during the pre-race identification process it was discovered that the horse presented was not DARK FAE, but instead was a 2YO filly named PRAIRIE STAR. Upon discovering the irregularity DARK FAE was withdrawn from the trials.
After investigation it was found that after purchasing DARK FAE, an error at the dispatch end had resulted in PRAIRIE STAR being transported to Ms Kliese’s stables instead of DARK FAE.
Ms Kliese advised that she had not verified the identity of the horse upon its arrival at her stables and acknowledged this shortcoming.
Ms Kliese subsequently pleaded guilty to a breach of AR99(1)(b) being the rule relating to horse identity.
After considering the circumstances, Stewards imposed a fine of $500.00, with 50% of that amount suspended for a period of 12 months, conditional upon no further breaches of the horse identification rules.
