Post-mortem samples were collected for analysis.

WILD DUST – Slow into stride. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.

Following the running of race 4, stewards conducted an inspection of a section of the track between the 800m and 850m, where TIME TO TURN had appeared to faulter. Stewards, alongside senior riders engaged in race 5 and club representatives, identified significant divots that had deteriorated with racing. The senior riders expressed safety concerns with this section of the track due to the inconsistency with the racing surface. Consultation transpired with club representatives in relation to any possible remedial works that could be carried out to address the safety concerns raised. After the club were not in a position to undertake any remedial work within a reasonable timeframe, senior riders in consultation with apprentices, withdrew their services as did not feel the track was suitable to continue racing, and as such as rider and horse safety were paramount, the remaining race was subsequently abandoned at 4:55pm.
