SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
At Mt Isa Thursday 7th August 2025, Apprentice Jockey N Palmer rode his 20th winner in race 3 which will reduce his allowance to 2kg, but as the acceptances and jockeys were declared for the Muttaburra meeting on Thursday 7th August 2025, Apprentice Palmer was to keep his 3kg claim for this meeting.
GENERAL
As Jockey Micheal McDonald was unable to fulfil his riding engagements at the meeting due to illness, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey McDonald was advised that he would require a medical certificate before riding again.
The following horse was declared a late scratching by Stewards when there was no rider available:
Race 1: PALAZZO SPIRIT
Due to there being no other riders available, Stewards permitted the following overweights for today’s meeting:
Race 1: Apprentice N Palmer – claim 2kg = 56.5kg
Race 4: Apprentice N Palmer – claim 0.5kg = 56.5kg
Stewards accepted the reasons given by Apprentice Palmer for not being able to claim his full allowance.
Race 1: GREAT ARTESIAN VETERINARY SURGERY BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
Correct weight was delayed to allow the rider of 4th placegetter DECLASSIFY, Jockey R Faehr to view the photo finish. When Jockey Faehr and Stewards were similarly satisfied correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers.
SCARZEL – Shifted out on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
DECLASSIFY – Slow to begin.
PALAZZO SPIRIT – Declared a late scratching at 12.30pm due to there being no jockey available at the meeting to ride the gelding.
POWER SISTER – As Jockey M McDonald was not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced by Jockey T Townsend. Underwent a prerace Veterinary inspection at the barriers after making contact with the mounting yard gate post and harmlessly dislodging Jockey Townsend when going onto the track and was passed suitable to start.
FELONIOUS – Laid in when weakening down the home straight.
VICI – Shifted wider passing the 500m and raced wide for the remainder of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
ULTIMATE MAN – Underwent a prerace Veterinary inspection due to the gelding not having raced for an extended period. As a result, ULTIMATE MAN was passed suitable to start. Slow to begin.
OLIGARCHY – Shifted out on jumping. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 150m before shifting out off the heels of the tiring FELONIOUS.
Race 2: PETER GRAY MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 3-Y-O & Up 1200 Metres
ANACARDIUM – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BREKKY CREEK – As Jockey M McDonald was not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced by Jockey T Townsend. The start of this event was delayed when BREKKY CREEK refused to load. The gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.12pm by order of Stewards. Trainer R Hermann was advised that the gelding would require a further satisfactory barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on BREKKY CREEK be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – KITSILANO BEACH - 37c win, 31c place
2nd – EL QUINTO - 31c place
MISHANI OUTLAW – Jockey J Rudd reported that MISHANI OUTLAW resented the kickback from today’s racing surface.
SOME CAT – Shifted out on jumping and bumped EL QUINTO.
EL QUINTO – Bumped on jumping.
KITSILANO BEACH – Inclined to lay in over the final 100m.
STATE OF AWE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 3: MAL WYTON TRANSPORT & MOUNTVIEW CHAROLAIS CLASS B HANDICAP 1200 Metres
FIELD MASTER – As Jockey M McDonald was not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced by Jockey T Townsend. Slow to begin. Jockey Townsend reported that after being slow to begin the gelding resented the kickback and was not suited by todays track conditions.
KENSINGTON'S JEWEL (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
TRAPEZE FLYER – The start of this event was delayed whenTRAPEZE FLYER refused to load. The gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.56 pm by order of Stewards. Trainer P O’Toole was advised that the gelding would require a further satisfactory barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on TRAPEZE FLYER be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – KENSINGTON'S JEWEL (NZ) 22c win, 23c place
2nd – BLOOMIN' GOLD 23c place
BLOOMIN' GOLD – Began awkwardly.
MIDSUMMER NIGHT - Raced wide. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Race 4: MICHAEL HORMAN TRANSPORT KEN & WIN WEDGWOOD CUP RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
PARUES – Underwent a prerace Veterinary inspection at the barriers after making contact with the mounting yard gate post when going onto the track and was passed suitable to start. When asked to comment on the performance, Trainer H Forster stated that the gelding proved disappointing at its last start however today,PARUES was more suited by being able to settle and dictate terms throughout.
SUMMER SIZZLING – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BOSTON OF TUFFY – Slow to begin.
SHARPAY RULER – Declared a late scratching at 8.04am when it was reported by Trainer R Hermann that the gelding injured his near side foreleg when being loaded onto transport to attend today’s meeting. Trainer Hermann was advised that SHARPAY RULER would require a Veterinary certificate before racing or trialling again.
VALIANT JOAN – Raced wide throughout. Weakened over the final 200m of the event.
MISHANI TWILIGHT - Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
Race 5: TROPIC PETROLEUM DAVID & BEBE SECCOMBE MEMORIAL MUTTABURRA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400 Metres
SCORCHED LAND – Slow to begin.
BURDEKIN – Slow to begin.
BURDEN – As Jockey M McDonald was not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced by Jockey T Townsend. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
BADGE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
MUSIC AWARD – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure when weakening over the final 150m.
