WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Soft (5); Good (4) after Race 2 RAIL – True

OFFICIALS

Stewards – A. Schofield (chair), J. Williamson, O. Legg

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Burrandowan 10/5/25
Race 5 - Apprentice L. Sykes reported that PROPHET OF BOOM whilst not suited to the firm track, travelled well before BONZABELTER forced him wider approaching and rounding the home turn. He added the mare finished off the race well and wasn't disappointing in the overall performance.

Race 1: HERITAGE BANK NANANGO MAIDEN PLATE 1000 Metres

The start of this event was delayed approximately seven minutes when MASTER NED was reluctant to proceed to the barriers requiring the assistance of the Clerk of the course. Trainer P. Hill was advised the MASTER NED must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

HARCASIAN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good (4).

Race 3: OAKEY MOTOR INN QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 – 50 HANDICAP 1000 Metres

COSTA CATORI – Held up for clear running from the 300m until the 200m. Apprentice S. Bailey reported that the gelding was inclined to over race during the early stages.

SIDLED – Very slow to begin and failed to muster speed losing touch with the body of field. Took an awkward stride near the 400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hindleg. Trainer M. Lakey was advised that SIDLED would require a veterinary clearance prior to trialling or racing again.

BUN IN THE OVEN – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn and bumped with POLYGAL which laid in when racing greenly.

Race 4: KAYE HILL MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP 1000 Metres

On return to scale and on viewing the patrol footage, rider of second placegetter C. Taylor (UNO MOON) lodged an objection against first past the post apprentice C. Lowe (MEDALS) alleging interference on two separate occasions in the home straight. After viewing the footage and taking evidence from connections, Stewards found that passing the 100m, MEDALS shifted out under pressure, striking the gelding on the nose with her whip, and obliging C. Taylor to stop riding and straighten his mount, and again approaching the winning post. Bearing in mind the beaten margin’s between the runners of ¾ L, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the incident not occurred to UNO MOON, that the gelding would have finished ahead of MEDALS and therefore the protest was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers. Apprentice C. Lowe, rider of MEDALS, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.

OAKFIELD COMANCHE – Slow to begin.

HARD LANDING – Began awkwardly.

XERRI – Raced wide throughout.

Trainer D. Knight was advised that LICENCED AND READY would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Carter was reminded of her obligations in using her whip on a runner out of contention. Trainer J. Moore reported that it was now his intention to retire the gelding.

ACES UP – Raced wide throughout.

STAR CHANCE – Improved onto heels near the 600m and had to be steadied. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
