GENERAL
Stewards permitted J Woodhouse to ride 1kg overweight in race 5 on SHACKAMAXON.
Apprentice B Harrison was issued with a reprimand pursuant to AR143(12)(b) in that she failed to produce her winning rides book to stewards.
RACE 1: NANANGO MEDICAL CENTRE CLASS B HANDICAP 800M
PULL THE CATCH – Trainer G Richardson was issued with a reprimand pursuant to LR42(2) for failing to lodge a stable return with the registered colours for PULL THE CATCH.
GODT PLAYED – Lost ground from near the 600m and was uncompetitive to the finish line. Jockey M Taylor reported that in her opinion the colt raced greenly in today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer S Ryan was advised a warning would be placed on GODT PLAYED for being uncompetitive.
Stewards downgraded the track to a soft 5 retrospective to race 1.
RACE 2: ALIPNE EDGE QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (SPONSORED BY CLEAR MOUNTAIN FAIRVIEW) 1000M
The start of this event was delayed approximately 6 minutes due to PHIL UP taking charge of its rider J Woodhouse after his saddle shifted forward and galloped until near the 600m before easing down and receiving assistance from the clerk of the course. Subsequently, PHIL UP was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2:08pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on PHIL UP to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st – QUEEN OF SSORTS 31c win, 28c place
2nd – BRAVE LIKE LILY 28c place
3rd – STEP OBSESSED 28c place
Following the late scratching, BRAVE LIKE LILY cast the near hind plate behind the barriers and was reshod. A pre-race veterinary examination revealed the filly was cleared to start.
QUEEN OF SSORTS – Attempted to buck shortly after the start. Jockey P Hamblin reported that he felt his saddle shift back prior to the mare attempting to buck. Trainer L Hatch was advised a warning would be placed on QUEEN OF SSORTS for attempting to buck.
STEP OBSESSED – Momentarily inconvenienced near the 50m when BRAVE LIKE LILY shifted in.
BRAVE LIKE LILY – Shifted in abruptly near the 50m before being corrected by its rider.
HERE’S MAGIC – Apprentice S Tierney stated that in her opinion, HERE’S MAGIC didn’t handle the early fast-paced tempo when being placed under pressure by QUEEN OF SSORTS in attempt to gain the leading position. She further added that in her opinion the filly may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
RACE 3: FRANK MILLS TRIBUTE RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1000M
ABOUT RIGHT – Near the 800m, shifted in onto COSTA CATORI which was taken in onto KIRELLA SHORES which was tightened for room and obliged to be checked.
COSTA CATORI –Taken in near the 800m onto KIRELLA SHORES when ABOUT RIGHT shifted in when insufficiently clear.
CRAIGLEA MERIDA – Slow to begin. Bucked shortly after the start, losing significant ground and was uncompetitive to the finish line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer K Johnston was advised that CRAIGLEA MERIDA would now be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to accepting for a future race for bucking and being uncompetitive.
KIRELLA SHORES – Checked when tightened for room near the 800m when ABOUT RIGHT shifted in when not sufficiently clear of COSTA CATORI which was taken in. Jockey K Gates, rider of ABOUT RIGHT pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(a) in that near 800m, she permitted her mount ABOUT RIGHT to shift in when not sufficiently clear of COSTA CATORI ridden by jockey P Hamblin, which was taken in onto KIRELLA SHORES ridden by jockey M Butler who was obliged to be checked when tightened for room. Jockey K Gates’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days commencing midnight 14th of February 2026 until midnight the 24th of February 2026. Jockey K Gates was informed of her right of appeal.

RACE 4: DEB & STAN CORBETT OPEN HANDICAP 1000M
HOLIDAY DREAMS – Slow to begin.
READY AND MABEL – Began awkwardly, unbalancing its rider.
RACE 5: EDDIE AND JEAN HANCOCK FAMILY BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1600M
CASANOVA MAN (NZ) – Jockey M Taylor stated that in her opinion she felt CASANOVA MAN (NZ) did not handle today’s rain affected track conditions and felt uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ROTHWEILER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to having raced at Gatton on the 10th February 2026 and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly.
GALACTIC LEGEND – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped CASINO CAT.
THE PUBLICAN – Over raced in the early stages of the event.
CRAIGLEA OREO – Began awkwardly and shifted out onto SEACRYPTION which was taken out onto SUMMER STAR and lost ground.
SEACRYPTION – Lost ground at the start when CRAIGLEA OREO shifted out and was taken out onto SUMMER STAR.
SUMMER STAR – Lost ground at the start when SEACRYPTION was taken out. Made the turn at the 1100m awkwardly and shifted out onto the heels of CASINO CAT and lost ground.
CASINO CAT – Hampered and taken in at the start onto SHACKMAXON and lost ground when GALACTIC LEGEND began awkwardly.
SHACKMAXON – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to having raced at Gatton on the 10th February 2026 and was cleared to start. Prior to the running of race 1, jockey J Woodhouse advised stewards that he would not be able to make the allocated weight on SHACKMAXON and was replaced by jockey M Butler. Jockey J Woodhouse pleaded guilty to a charge and fined the sum of $100 pursuant to AR190(3) in that he accepted a ride when overweight, resulting in him having to be replaced on SHACKMAXON. Stewards permitted the 1kg overweight for the rider change of jockey M Butler. Lost ground at the start when CASINO CAT was hampered and taken in.
