GENERAL
Trainer J. Bellamy was severely reprimanded pursuant to LR68(1) for the late scratching of GRAND CRUSADER in Race 4. In determining penalty, consideration was given to trainer J. Bellamy’s personal circumstances and record under this rule.
RACE 1: CARROLLEE HOTEL Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
EXCEPTIONAL RUPERT – Hung out rounding the home turn. Became awkwardly placed on heels near the 50m when held up for a run and went to the line without being fully tested.
YONAKA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced on 17/05/2026. Laid in under pressure in the home straight before being corrected by its rider.
LA SWISH – Raced greenly in the home straight.
PARIS BLITZ – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice J. Emmerson stated it was the geldings first start and it didn’t appear to appreciate the firmer track, however added it may benefit from the run.
ALIZA – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 100m when YONAKA laid in under pressure.
RUN ZIGGY RUN – Hung out severely rounding the home turn. Trainer G. Richardson was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for hanging.
RACE 2:KINGAROY FREIGHT EXPRESS QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 Handicap (1000 METRES)
The start of this race was delayed by approximately four minutes when ABOVE THE WORLD became loose prior to entering the mounting yard and subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination before being cleared to start.
WALLY’S BOY – Trainer T. Thomas was reprimanded pursuant to AR106(2) for presenting the gelding to the enclosure with incorrect gear. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
GLUTTONY – Shifted in on jumping and bumped MISSY’S READY shortly after the start.
ABOVE THE WORLD – Began awkwardly, hampered and lost ground.
MEANIE – Hampered and lost ground shortly after the start.
MISSY’S READY – Bumped at the start by GLUTTONY, as a result shifting in and hampering MEANIE and ABOVE THE WORLD. Shifted out near the 150m to obtain clear running
RACE 3:HOMEMAKERS GLASS AND ALUMINIUM BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1200 METRES)
The start of this race was delayed by approximately four minutes when MASTER NED’s rider, C. Taylor, expressed concerns with the geldings action upon arriving at the barriers. MASTER NED subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2:12pm. Trainer P. Hill was advised the gelding will need to obtain a veterinarian certificate prior to racing again. On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on MASTER NED to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st – BLACK ‘N’ DEADLY– 19c win, 16c place.
2nd – PRINCE OF DIAMONDS – 16c place.
3rd - JAIN – 16c place.
JAIN – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn before shifting out to obtain clear running. Had to be steadied near the 50m when PRINCE OF DIAMOND (Apprentice I. Jessop) shifted out under pressure. Apprentice I. Jessop was advised to exercise greater care.
PRINCE OF DIAMONDS – Raced greenly in the early part of the home straight. Laid out under pressure over the final 100m.
BLACK ’N’ DEADLY – Over-raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.
POWERFUL WARRIOR – Began awkwardly.
KINDLY (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
RACE 4:ALPINE EDGE 2026 BATTLE OF THE BUSH NANANGO QUALIFIER OPEN Plate (1200 METRES)
DRANG A TANG – Fractious in the barriers.
ENTREPRENEURIAL – When asked to comment on the performance, rider C. Meehan was of the opinion that the firmer track conditions didn’t suit his mount today.
HORRIBLE HANK – Hung out severely rounding the home turn. Trainer G. Richardson was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging.
RACE 5:KAYE HILL MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (SPONSORED BY D & A HILL FAMILY HOLDINGS) (1600 METRES)
PRAISE YOU – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
BUGDEN – Became awkwardly placed on heels near the 300m when improving onto the heels of the tiring SO OUTRAGEOUS which was losing ground.
FOR THE BRAVE – Became awkwardly placed on heels and lost considerable ground near the 400m when the tiring DOMINANT ROSE was coming back through the field.
DOMINANT ROSE – Over-raced in the early stages and momentarily had to steady near the 1400m when SO OUTRAGEOUS (C. Meehan) shifted in to obtain a position on the rail. After taking into account DOMINANT ROSE’s racing mannerisms, rider C. Meehan was advised to exercise greater care in similar situations.
ROIGARD – Hung out rounding the home turn and continued to race greenly in the home straight.
