GENERAL
As rider W. O’Connell was absent from today’s meeting through illness, he was replaced as per the Steward’s Raceday Summary. W. O’Connell was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to returning.
Trainer J. Sims was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for the late rider declaration of S. Pointon on SUPER EXCEPTIONAL in Race 1.
Race 1 - CARROLLEE HOTEL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap (800 METRES)
LEVAR – Hampered at the start.
ATHOL MAC – Hampered at the start.
LUMINOUS WATERS – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered ATHOL MAC. Raced wide without cover throughout.
QUARTERSHARE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
LIGHTLY SPARKLED – Began awkwardly. Rider K. Gates advised that after jumping awkwardly and losing ground, she felt that the mare’s effort in the home straight was reasonable.
SUPER EXCEPTIONAL – Began awkwardly.
LATE NIGHT TALKING – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
EXCLUSIVE DROP – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered LEVAR.
Race 2 - FTA ACCOUNTANTS OPEN Handicap (1000 METRES)
GALWAY HUSSLER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
STRATIFIED – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice rider J. Emmerson reported that her mount laid in over the concluding stages.
HARBOUR GOLD – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
FLYING BIRDS – Knuckled on jumping.
DON’T TELL LEEANNE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination having not raced since November 2024. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
Race 3 - WORTHY CAUSE QTIS Maiden Plate (SPONSORED BY CLEAR MOUNTAIN FAIRVIEW) (1200 METRES)
FINAL COMMAND – Rider C. Meehan was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip above shoulder height.
LAW AND ORDER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider P. Hamblin was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(b) for using his whip above shoulder height.
DANCING WATER – Laid out rounding the home turn. Rider N. Fazackerley reported his mount was very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery and lacerations to the gums. Trainer T. Dougall was advised the mare will need to obtain a veterinarian certificate prior to racing again.
GONE BY DAYLIGHT – Slow to begin.
RAZOR’S MAGIC – Began awkwardly.
Race 4 - G3 ENGINEERING RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 Handicap (1200 METRES)
KING OF THE VIBE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered BABALOLA. Rider C. Taylor was reminded of his obligations under AR132(6)(g) regarding using his whip when clearly winning.
PABALLO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
CRAIGLEA OREO – Rider H. Richardson reported her mount hung out throughout the event, impacting her ability to ride out over the final stages. Trainer K. Arnold was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging.
BABALOLA – Hampered at the start and bumped REEBAR.
HIGHER CALLING – Slow to begin.
REEBAR – Bumped at the start.
MAEVE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Tailed off throughout. Rider G. Goomany advised his mount struggled to keep up with the rest of the field. Trainer S. McEwan was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for its poor performance.
DAUNTING INSTINCT – Began awkwardly.
READY TO RHYME – Slow to begin.
Race 5 - Eddie Hancock 90th Birthday Celebration RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 Handicap (1200 METRES)
CAPIANA – Near the 1000m, commenced to over-race for a short distance and got its head up, losing ground in the process. Apprentice rider W. Galloway reported his mount over-raced and started to lay in near the 1000m.
MERCHANT MOON – Began awkwardly.
OUTDOOR KAT – Raced wide without cover throughout.
LA SUERTE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
FLAWLESS AMBITION – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide without cover throughout. Rider K. Gates reported her mount raced ungenerously throughout the event.
Race 6: JACKSON FITZROY HOTEL NANANGO CUP OPEN Handicap (1600 METRES)
The start of this race was delayed by approximately nine minutes to allow for QAS to tend to an on-course patron.
GRINZINGER KNIGHT – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide without cover from the 800m.
SEA COMMITS – Checked near the 1200m when ARIAT (Apprentice R. O’Connell) shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice R. O’Connell was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Raced in restricted room to the inside of ARIAT from the 150m until passing the winning post.
