GENERAL
Stewards questioned Jockey J Baker after Race 1 regarding his fitness to continue riding the remainder of the meeting, after speaking with the medical officers Jockey J Baker was cleared to ride in Race 2. Jockey J Baker assessed again after Race 2 and was subsequently stood down for the remainder of the program and will require a medical certificate before competing in races.
Race 1: A E ARTHUR MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000m
Tourmaster - Hung out entering the home straight, Shifted out over the concluding stages.
Trommelschlagen - Showed no early speed in the early stages. Jockey J Baker stated that Trommelschlagendidn’t handle the track.
Tocco - Hung out entering the home straight.
Pass The Card - Hung out entering the home straight, Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Lost off hind plate in the run.
Race 2: ELDERS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
Armani Blaze - Bumped shortly after the start when Candy Dawn jumped awkwardly. Had to be steadied off heels at the 800m when Voight shifted ground.
Candy Dawn - Jumped awkwardly contacting Armani Blaze. Improved on to heels approaching the 800 and checked.
Voight - Jockey R Tilley shifted in approaching the 800m resulting in jockey P Randall having to steady off heels. Jockey R Tilley was reminded by stewards to show greater care when shifting ground.
Bean Fortunate - Caught 3 wide for majority of the race.
Race 3: RON & BERYL MCINTOSH MEMORIAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1200 metres
Ballycastle - Caught wide early. Shifted out in the home straight when placed under pressure.
Motilda - Slow to begin. Never travelled comfortably in the run when placed under pressure. A subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards spoke to trainer G Bignell regarding the performance of Motilda and stated he was disappointed in today’s performance as Motilda’s work has been good leading into today’s race. Trainer G Bignell will notify stewards if Motlida has any significant findings followings today’s race.
Race 4: WATERS, HENRY AND DAVEY NOORAMA CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400 metres
Another Plan - Slow to begin. Worked forward from the 800m, then caught wide for the remainder of the race.
Rinviata (NZ) - Stewards spoke to Jockey P Randall regarding his whip gesture prior to the winning post. Jockey P Randall was charged under AR131 (c) make any celebratory gesture prior to his or her horse passing the winning post and fined $200.
Forged In Stone - Stewards permitted Jockey B Moffat to ride 3kg over as no suitable jockey was available. Shifted ground entering the home straight.
Race 5: AF & MF MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 1400 metres
Classic Wind - Slow to begin. Hung in majority of the back straight.
