Stewards today inquired into a complaint lodged by jockey L. Morrison in relation to alleged verbal abuse from jockey W. D’Avila on a number of occasions throughout the course the race meeting. After hearing evidence from both riders and considering a written statement from steward D. Griffiths, stewards were unable to substantiate Jockey Morrison’s complaint and took no direct action other than to remind both riders of their obligation to act in a professional manner at all times.

Race 1: SWEETER SOILS/CAMILLERI EARTHMOVING/MACKAY WALES/STOCKLICK TRADING "BASALT" MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 Metres

LIVELY LASS – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the late declaration of rider.

CRAZY SUSPECT – Slow to begin.

OUR GIRL JACQUIE – Slow to begin.

SERENE MELODY – Raced wide in the early stages.

Race 2: NCC BRAHMANS/OLSSON'S/GF RURAL/ZOETIS "NIMMO" CLASS 3 PLATE – 1000 Metres

COME ALIVE – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the late declaration of rider. Raced wide in the early stages.

BILL 'N' TED – Began awkwardly, throwing its head in the air and lost ground.

AMMATE (NZ) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

CADENCE – Raced wide in the middle stages.

Race 3: MURPHY MEMORIAL "VICE PRESIDENTS PLATE" BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

Correct weight was delayed to allow rider K. Swaffer, (MY BOY MISCHKE) who was placed second, to view the photo finish print. After viewing the print Ms Swaffer was satisfied with the judges decision.

FLIRTY MCCOY – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the late declaration of rider. Slow to begin.

TEMPO (NZ) – Slow to begin.

Race 4: TUFF N UP LADIES BRACELET OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

KAHUNA – Dislodged rider L Morrison enroute to the barriers and after galloping some distance was declared a late scratching at 2.28pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on KAHUNA were ordered to be refunded with deductions on all winning bets made prior to 2.38pm to be applicable. 19 cents in the dollars on the face value of all win bets and 20 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets. Jockey Morrison declared herself free of injury after slipping down the side of the gelding in the incident.

OKANAGAN MISS – Lunged at front gates just prior the gates opening and lost ground.

BUON NATALE – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously and laid in for the majority of the race.

DALON – Laid in for the majority of the race.

Race 5: COLLINS FAMILY/UNDARA/TOPX LONGREACH "FULFORD PLATE" QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres

Correct weight was delayed when connections of LITLE SPOON wished to view the patrol film ascertain if the mare was afforded a fair start. Due to the lack of clarity on the film this was unable to be confirmed and LITTLE SPOON was declared a runner.

AMELIA'S RAINBOW – Shifted in near the 1200 metres placing OUR BOY BRETT in restricted room.

MYOLA MILLY – Slow to begin. Laid in near the 1200 metres despite the efforts of its rider crowding LITTLE SPOON.

RED RED ROSE – Slow to begin.

LITTLE SPOON – Slow to begin. Crowded for room near the 1200 metres and was steadied.

OUR BOY BRETT – Restrained near the 1200 metres when placed in restricted room by AMELIA’S RAINBOW which shifted in. M. Abe, rider of AMELIA'S RAINBOW was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
