Race 1: CALLAN ARCHER TRANSPORT MAIDEN 1,000 M
HERE’S HARRY – proved difficult to come into the starting formation: slow to begin when the start was made – warning placed.
SHINY GIRL – tired from the 600 metres and finished back.
Race 2: BOOTH RURAL RESTRICTED 1,000 M
JUST NICCO – gave ground from the 500 metres and finished back.
Race 3: COLEMAN STOCK FEEDS OPEN 1,200 M
CRAIGLEA ALTISE – crowded wider passing the 550 metres when CHIEF ADVOCATE shifted out.
CHIEF ADVOCATE – shifted ground out passing the 600 metres.
Race 4: TMK CRANE HIRE RESTRICTED 1,200 M
BEYOND PASSION – refused to stretch out in the early stages and became detached from the balance of the field, taking no effective part. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality – warning placed on racing performance.
Race 5: PRESIDENTS GIFT OPEN 1,000 M
SAME OLD STORY – slow to begin.
Stewards noted rider Rodney Hammond (EKSTATIC) exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ one) under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
Race 6: LESLEY BODE MEMORIAL & WILSON RYAN GROSE LAWYERS OPEN 1,600 M
REBEL LAKE – gave ground from the 800 metres and was distanced at the finish. When questioned rider Douglas Bannister stated that the gelding had failed to stretch out at any stage, and he did not persevere over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination of theREBEL LAKE revealed bruising to the near side frog region.Given all circumstances, including that the gelding will now be spelled no further action was required.
KING LANDON – lost contact in the early stages however recovered ground from the 800 metres and finished the race off strongly.
Stewards noted rider John Dagan (DO I HAVE TO) exceeded the permitted strikes of the whip prior to the 100m (+ one); under AR132(7)(a)(ii); however, given the totality of the whip use no further action was taken.
Race 7: BRODIE AGENCIES RESTRICTED 1,200 M
NOBLE THOUGHT – refused to jump away and took no competitive part in the race – warning placed on starting manners.
HOSTILE LILY – refused to jump away and took no part – stood down pending a satisfactory trial. Owner/ Trainer Ms Robyn Brown reported that HOSTILE LILY will now be retired.
ADAMINABY – lost ground throughout the event. Rider Douglas Bannister stated that the gelding had resented the kick back and this had proved detrimental to its chances.
Race 8: BOOTH RURAL RESTRICTED 1,000 M
TORQUE WITH PRIDE – lay in over the final 250 metres placing TAORMINA MATCH in restricted room.
TAORMINA MATCH – very slow into stride; raced in restricted room over the final 250 metres.
LA FORTUNA – lay out for the majority of the race.
