SUPPLIMENTARY REPORT
ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB –Friday 14th November 2025
Race 5: TAB BREEDERS PLATE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE
Stewards today conducted a hearing into Rider Micheal McDonald riding of BOOMIOUS in the final straight where he applied the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100 metres. Rider McDonald admitted a resultant breach of AR132(7)(a)(ii) and after consideration of penalty rider McDonald’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, with this suspension to commence at the conclusion of racing on Saturday 29th November 2025 and to expire at the conclusion of racing on Saturday 6th December 2025.
GENERAL
1. The commencement of the race meeting was delayed 15 minutes due to an electrical failure on course. Further power outages continued intermittently throughout the day.
2. Prior to the commencement of Race 1 the Stewards were advised that photo-finish facility would not be available for Race 1.
RACE 1: HONEYCOMBES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 800M
CHASETON – slow to leave the barriers.
EXOLENT CHOICE – travelled wide throughout.
RACE 2: CHARTERS TOWERS FUNERALS AND MONUMENTAL 1000M
WEIRD GOODBYES – dictated wider rounding the final turn.
SUGAR BEAR – Apprentice Julie Busuttin reported that SUGAR BEAR had been inclined to race greenly throughout.
CAPRICIOUS BELLE – travelled wide throughout; Apprentice Amelia Heinrich reported that she was unable to maintain full control of her mount rounding the final turn due to its tendency to lay out.
RACE 3: JETT INDUSTRIAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1000m
LORD VALEN – was declared a late scratching at 2:28pm after being found to be lame in the near-foreleg when presented in the enclosure. Trainer Ms. Shryn Royes was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to LORD VALEN next racing. Stewards ruled that all monies invested on LORD VALENbe refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 2:28pm be subject to the following deductions in the face value of each ticket:
1st: CUP OF AMBITION– $0.17¢ win, $0.15¢ place
2nd: TENGUN ANNIE - $0.15¢ place
3rd EGZAKLY - $0.15¢ place
WHOLELOTTALOVE – broke through the barriers after being loaded away and travelled a short distance before returning to the barriers. A subsequent veterinary examination passed the gelding fit to run; laid in passing the 600 metres and near the 450 metres shifted in tightening WHITTY'S DREAM which had to be firmly restrained.
TENGUN ANNIE – crowded shortly after the start and lost ground.
WHITTY'S DREAM – had to be firmly restrained passing the 450 metres when inside WHOLELOTTALOVE which when laying in, shifted in momentarily. Apprentice Amelia Heinrich was reprimanded under AR131(a) and advised that she must ensure that she provides sufficient clearance to all runners at all times when her mounts are inclined to shift ground.
RACE 4: KEVIN HERROD MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 1250M
GARDENZIO – was declared a late scratching at 12:05pm after veterinary examination upon arrival at the track, revealed the gelding to have sustained an injury to its near- front tendon. Trainer Ms. Tanya Parry was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to GARDENZIO next racing.
CANDLELIT – Apprentice Samantha Pointon reported that CANDLELIT had been unsuited to the firm nature of today’s track and had failed to let down at any stage.
ROOM FOR SQUARES – travel wide for the majority of the race.
WINNING SAGA – was declared a late scratching at 12:32pm after becoming fractious when being transported to the race meeting and sustaining lacerations to its hind legs. Trainer Graham Kliese was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to WINNING SAGA next racing.
RED SUTURE – travelled wide throughout.
RACE 5: HAMMER & CO PENTLAND CUP CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1600M
BLAZERRO – travelled wide throughout.
ARDEN GREEN – travelled wide throughout; compounded passing the 250 metres and was not persevered with over the concluding stages, being distanced at the finish. When questioned, rider Aidan Holt stated that the gelding had begun to feel unsteady under him passing the 300 metres and had also displayed respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Connections undertook to advise the Stewards of any material matter which may become evident in coming days.
SUMMER SIZZLING – travelled wide throughout.
MAGIC GAME – very slow to leave the barriers and thereafter struggled to recover any ground lost. When questioned, Apprentice Amelia Heinrich stated that after being very slow into stride the mare had failed to come onto the bridle at any stage and was disappointing. Trainer Ms. Tanya Parry was advised that a warning had been placed on MAGIC GAMES barrier manners and competitiveness.
ROMAN DAGGER (NZ) – outpaced in the middle stages and lost contact with the balance of the field. Trainer Mr Kerry Krogh was advised that a warning had been placed on the gelding’s competitiveness.
LEGAL CHALLENGE –due to limited race vision being provided on the day, the Stewards will inquire into rider David Sparks use of the whip prior to the 100 metres once enhanced vision becomes available.
VEE EIGHT POWER – slipped behind on jumping momentarily unbalancing rider Graham Kliese.
