QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT PRAIRIE JOCKEY CLUB SATURDAY 7th SEPTEMBER 2024 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT (GOOD) OFFICIALS Stewards –, P. Warren (Chairman) , J. McIntosh, D Griffiths GENERAL – Medical clearances to ride were received from Jockeys J Felix, and S Sheargold. SCRATCHINGS – RACE 1 - HI ZERO, RACE 2 - NIL, RACE 3 - MOGGIE, ENUFF STOP IT,JUNGLEDELIRACE 4 - NO LOVE LOST, ON THE TAKE (EMERG), RUSTY ROSE (EMERG), MR. KOBO (EMERG), NINE CAROTS (EMERG) RACE 5 -. ZURI ZURI, BITTERBLUE, RACE 6 - COUNT OF CARFORD (EMERG), ZOUHOPE (EMERG). Race 1: BOOTH RURAL BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000m THUNDER MOON - Hampered on jumping. INNER SPIRIT – Hampered on jumping. ARROGANT HEART – Jumped awkwardly. CROWN REACH – Jockey J Felix reported that the gelding had resented kick back in the early stages and he elected to move wider on the track at the 600 metres to avoid same. He stated that from that point CROWN REACH had finished well thereafter Race 2: C.J & R.A BODE BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000m MR KOBO – When questioned Trainer J Russo advised that that he was late on course due to transport difficulties on route. His explanation was accepted.Slow to begin. Was sent for a post-race swab. KARAKAROO - Trainer John Manzelmann was questioned regarding the improved performance of KARAKAROO in winning today’s event in comparison to theprevious performance atHome Hillon 27 August 2024, when beaten 11 lengths after leading. He advised thatKARAKAROO, whichhad again led today, had shown more resilience on this occasion after gaining further fitness in proceeding weeks. His explanation was noted. BASQUE – Extremely fractious in the enclosure and trainer S Royes was issued with a warning regarding the mares behavior. Race 3:G & J WEBBER MOBILE AUTO ELECTRICAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200mTONATIUH – Was inspected behind the barriers by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and found to be lame in the off-hind leg. TONATIUH was declared a late scratching at 2.20 p.m. A veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before TONATIUH again starts. ELIZABETHAN – Reared over behind the barriers andwas declared a late scratching at 2.20 p.m. Trainer S Seymour was advised that ELIZABETHAN must trial to the Stewards satisfaction before racing again.STOP ON SOPHIA – Jockey S McGovern was questioned as to whether he had ridden the mare out to the finish line. Jockey McGovern advised that his saddle had shifted at the top of the straight and that whilst he agreed that he had failed to test the horse fully over the concluding stages, he advised that he was in difficulty maintaining balance due to the saddle issue. His explanation was noted however Jockey S McGovern was reminded of his obligation to immediately report to Stewards any matter that had affected his chances. AR 131 (b)THREDBO – Slow to begin, failed to stretch out and was retired from the race at the 800 metres. Trainer M Jokic was advised that THREDBO will be required to trial before racing again. MISHANI OUTLAW - Retired from the race at the 100 metres when distanced and Trainer R Hermann was advised that MISHANI OUTLAW will be required to trial before racing again. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on ELIZABETHAN and TONATIUH were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 35 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 30 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Race 4: FMC GRASLAN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200m EXTRA FREE – Slow to begin. TIGER FOR LIFE – Fractious in the enclosure pre-race.WHITE ARENDELLE – Jockey C Spry was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of WHITE ARENDELLE. He advised that after being headed early in the race that the mare resented the dust kick back and commenced to climb in its action. He advised that he then eased the gelding down over the concluding stages when not in contention. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G Hughes stated that he would be sending WHITE ARENDELLE for a spell . WHITE ARENDELLE was stood down from racing on dirt tracks. BOOMALINA – Failed to stretch out shortly after the start and then blundered in the back straight when tailed out. Apprentice jockey I TEH stated she had retired the mare from the event as she felt the gelding was showing signs of soreness and not stretching out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and trainerB Thomson was advised that BOOMALINA was stood down from racing on dirt tracks. Race 5: COLEMAN STOCKFEED BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1400m MISHANI AVIATOR – Blundered on jumping. LASTING PROMISE – Difficult to load. Jockey P Romeo reported that the gelding hung out throughout the race.WAN D’AMOUR – Failed to show early speed and was distanced in the middle stages. Jockey J Felix reported that the mare refused to stretch out in the early stages until he shifted wide on the track to avoid dust kick back. He stated that WAN D’AMOUR had made up ground when he shifted well wide on the track to avoid kickback.Race 6: HAMMER & CO EARTHMOVING PRAIRIE CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400m OLD SCHOOL – Raced disappointingly and Apprentice Jockey I.Teh stated that due to dust kickback that she had vision difficulty after being tailed off. Trainers was advised not to start OLD SCHOOL again until satisfied it would perform in the desired manner.
