GENERAL

After the running of Race 1 Jky T Banks reported a section of the track between the 700m and the 500 was uneven. Stewards ordered the Club to perform remedial work on the section as specified.  The matter was remedied with the meeting being able to proceed without any further issues. A number of riders complained to Stewards about the large amount of dust that was making it difficult to see once they got back in the field. Stewards noted their comments and relayed their respective concerns to Club officials.

Race 1: NED & FORDIE CASTLES MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1)- 1100M

ANXO- Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Stewards spoke with Trainer Mr D Rewald who advised he had been disappointing since his arrival at the stable, but thought he would run well here today.   He said that once this horse got back in the field, he resented the kickback and didn’t improve into the race when the rider urged him to do so. He further advised the horse had since pulled up well without any signs of injury or illness Stewards noted Mr Rewald’s comments and under the provision of AR75 placed a Warning on the horse for the seemingly disappointing performance.

MAKE MINE SHIRAZ- Began awkwardly, then bumped with BOULIA after the start. Stewards spoke with Trainer Ms M Gavin who advised the horse wasn’t suited by the dust and kickback today and that contributed significantly to the horse’s performance today. The mare had pulled up well without any sign of injury or illness and would likely back up at Charleville race meeting coming up soon. Stewards noted her comments and acting under the provision of AR75 placed a Warning on the horse for the seemingly disappointing performance.

THE TERMINATOR- Jky T Banks reported to Stewards his mount hung in for the majority of the event and when approaching the 700m put in an awkward stride shifting inward, resulting in BOULIA being inconvenienced and losing ground.

BOULIA- Bumped with another runner at the start becoming unbalanced and lost ground. Then when approaching the 700m was inconvenienced as a result of THE TERMINATOR shifting in marginally losing ground. Raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Stewards spoke with Appr Jky S Pointon who advised after the inconvenience at the start and then losing further ground at the 700m the horse wasn’t suited with the racing conditions today and despite her best efforts just wouldn’t improve. She further stated the horse felt fine in running it just resented the dust and kickback. Stewards noted her comments and ordered a post- race veterinary examination be performed. This examination failed to reveal any significant findings. Trainer Mr W Pugsley advised he was disappointed in the run, but after being badly bumped at the start and then in running. He wasn’t suited at the rear of the field, and the dust and kickback played a significant part in the gelding’s performance today. The horse had pulled up well without any sign of injury or illness. Stewards accepted and noted Mr Puglsey’s comments.

BOOM FLYER- Stood flat footed at the start. As a result, Trainer M Pitman was notified that a Warning would be placed on the horse. Improved into the race from the 400m and ran on well over the final stages of the event.
