GENERAL
The following were scratched from their engagements today for reason of there being no rider available.
R1: SANDY GRIP; CLIODNA MAEVE (NZ); LEUCAENA.
R2: GETTY; HOLLERLOUD; DANCE WIZARD; MADAM BORODINA; ELIE JOE; SNIPPALICIOUS.
R3: SIR LUNCHALOTS; MIA TORETTO; FORTUNA’S GIRL.
R5: WHOLELOTTALOVE.
RACE 1: GD & LM LONSDALE CLASS B HANDICAP1000M
INSTGATE – travelled wide around the first turn.
LIVELY SPIRIT – slow into stride and then refused to come on to the bridle in the early stages and lost contact with the field, eventually finishing well back. Rider David Sparks reported that the mare had hung inward throughout proving difficult to control. A post-race veterinary examination of LIVELY SPIRIT revealed no obvious abnormality. Given all circumstances, including LIVELY SPIRIT having no previous warnings or embargoes, trainer Ms. Tanya Parry was advised that a warning had been placed on the racing performance of the mare.
RACE 2: FEDERAL PALACE HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP1000M
GROOVE JET- slow into stride.
FLY FILER – lost ground in the early stages with rider Matthew Gray reporting that in his opinion, after getting back in the field, the mare had been reluctant to run through the kickback.
WITHOUT – laid out rounding the final turn and lost momentum.
ALLEZIZZY– travelled wide in the early stages; raced wide rounding the final turn
Following the running of Race 2, rider David Sparks was attended to by QAS ambulance personnel after becoming unwell. As a consequence, rider Sparks was unable to fulfil his remaining riding engagements for the meeting. Mr Sparks was advised that he would be required to provide a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
RACE 3:MUD HUT HOTEL MOTEL RATINGS BAND 0 – 551200M
MAKANUI – was declared a late scratching at 2:30pm due to no rider being available following rider David Sparks becoming unwell. All monies invested on MAKANUI were ordered to be refunded, with deductions applicable to successful wagers placed prior to 2:30pm based on the face value of each ticket.
1st CRUDO (NZ) 42 cents win / 33 cents place
2nd NASSAU COUNTY 33 cents place.
UP TO US– travelled wide for the majority of the race.
RACE 4:NO.27 PASTORAL CO. MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
I’LLTELLYOUAFTER – faltered and went off stride near the 450 metres and was immediately pulled up by its rider. A veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a significant injury to the near foreleg. Due to the nature and severity of the injury, I’LLTELLYOUAFTER was humanely euthanised on veterinary advice. Samples were taken from I’LLTELLYOUAFTER for analysis.
KELAI KAVA – jumped in the air at dispatch losing considerable ground; warning placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
MACHO GRANDE (NZ) – Matthew Gray replaced David Sparks (unwell)
RACE 5: SJ &SA RURAL CONTRACTING QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE1400M
AZCONPETE – was declared a late scratching at 2:35pm due to David Spark’s becoming unwell and there being no other rider available.
BUZ FUZ – travelled wide throughout.
DANCING DOLLY – slow into stride, however recovered quickly to lead. lay out rounding the final turn losing some momentum.
