As Apprentice D Graham was unable to attend today’s meeting, changes were made as per the stewards’ raceday summary.

Race 1: Like Us On Facebook-Rockhampton Jockey Club Maiden H’cap – 1400m

GEOVANNI – Jumped away awkwardly contacting the outside barrier partition.

RUFFIN’ IT – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

FURY OF THE STORM – Hampered on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

GOLDEN TREASURE – Jumped away awkwardly, shifting in abruptly. When questioned regarding GOLDEN TREASURE leading in today’s event, trainer T Cook stated that the intentions were to be positive on the mare, however, was surprised to see GOLDEN TREASURE leading. He added that he expected FURY OF THE STORM to lead the event, however after that runner was hampered on jumping, was happy to see the mare cross and lead rather than race wide for the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the near hind. Jockey Z White was reprimanded for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permissible under the rules.

WEAGLES – Hampered on jumping.

INVESTIBLE – Overraced in the early stages.

EVRYNOW’N’THEN – Slow to begin. In the vicinity of the 200m, was momentarily inconvenienced by CORKONIAN which shifted out to improve into clear running. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

MONSIEUR JACK – Approaching the 900m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of GOLDEN TREASURE after the pace of the race slackened. Rider Z White was advised to exercise more care when steadying the pace in similar circumstances in the future. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

THORBEN – As D Graham was unable to attend the meeting, M Potgieter was permitted to substitute as rider. Apprentice M Potgieter’s whip broke in the vicinity of the 250m, which placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

CORKONIAN – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and approaching the 200m, was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.

Race 2: Wade Hunt IT QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden H’cap – 1500m

The start of this race was delayed approximately 5 mins owing to the late scratching of FOXTER and KETCHIKAN GOLD which proved difficult to load.

BOLD PEDRO – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

BLOW THE WHISTLE – Raced wide throughout.

PARA PARK – Raced wide throughout.

FOXTER – Was declared a late scratching at 1.19pm after refusing to load. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on FOXTER be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 1:19pm:

3 cents in the dollar for the win #1
2 cents in the dollar for place of winner #1
3 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #13
3 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #11

Trainer’s representative C Dore was advised that FOXTER must load without delay in a barrier trial prior to a future race start.

LEGAL CHANCE – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

STRUTTAROUND – Approaching the 400m became awkward in its stride and dislodged its rider. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils during the event. Trainer A Coome was advised of the provisions of AR79(4). Apprentice Bayliss was examined by Ambulance officers and was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.

KETCHIKAN GOLD – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after contacting the rail en route to the barriers and was passed fit to start. Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early stages. Trainer J O’Sing was advised that KETCHIKAN GOLD must obtain a further barrier certificate after proving difficult to load.

MISS GOLD BOUNTY – Was held up for clear running for the majority of the straight and was unable to improve into clear running till approaching the 100m.

GIRL ON TOP – Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn.

RIPOVA – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

SHARINDI – Hampered on jumping away. Overraced in the early stages.

UNLIKELYOCCURRENCE – Overraced in the early stages.

SAHARA SALLY – Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 100m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SHARINDI who was carried in by BOLD PEDRO. Jockey R Wiggins, rider of BOLD PEDRO, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the filly’s right side nostril.

COLOUR PERFECT – As B Appo was dually engaged, he was permitted to be substituted by H Richardson. B Appo was reprimanded under AR127(1) for failing to fulfil his engagement. Slow to begin.


Race 3: Wendy Mulry Travel Benchmark 55 H’cap – 1600m

VAN WINKEL – Shifted in on jumping away hampering JUSTALAD. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

TOM’S STAR – On entering the home straight, was disappointed when attempting to improve into a run to the outside of EMILY’S SONG and in doing so contacted STEADY STAR.

JUSTALAD – Hampered on jumping. On entering the home straight was disappointed when attempting to improve into a run to the outside of STEADY STAR and when doing so, contacted VAN WINKEL.

COACH – Overraced in the early stages and approaching the 1300m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of VAN WINKEL.

EMILY’S SONG – Jockey Z White was fined $300 for using her whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, being three more than permissible under the rules.

WINDCHILL – Raced wide throughout.

MYSTERY ELEMENT – Jockey S Wiseman was reprimanded for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permissible under the rules.


Race 4: Thinkwater/ Wandal Need and Feed Class 6 Plate – 1050m

LET’S CHEER AGAIN – Jockey A Butler was fined $300 for using his whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, being three more than permissible under the rules.

HIDDEN GODDESS – Jumped awkwardly. Rider B Appo was reprimanded for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permissible under the rules.

SCORCHA – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

BANTU BAY – Approaching the 100m, was momentarily inconvenienced by VOLUM which had to be steadied when tightened for room.

MAD IRISH TYCOON – Jumped awkwardly and was slow as a result.

VOLUM – Approaching the 100m, was obliged to steady to avoid the heels of MIRACULOUS, which laid out under pressure. Rider of MIRACULOUS, app C Bayliss was reminded of his obligations to keep his mounts straight. Rider R Wiggins reported his mount hung in throughout.

CHEZBLACK – Slow into stride.

MIRACULOUS – Laid out under pressure in the straight.

Race 5: TAB Class 3 Plate – 1400m

DOOM – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider T Chambers was suspended for using her whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m, being six more than permissible under the rules. Jockey Chambers license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight Tuesday 18th August and to conclude midnight Tuesday 25th August 2020.

OKIE – Approaching the 100m, became awkward in its stride when attempting to jump a section of the track and as a result, rider A Butler elected to not place the gelding under pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RED SATIN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

AUSSIE TYCOON – Momentarily inconvenienced near the 200m.

MISS STAR – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.


Race 6: Rockhampton Business Machines Open H’cap – 1300m

BAT A KAT – Rider A Butler was fined $500 for using his whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, being four more than permissible under the rules.

THE BAKER – Raced wide throughout.

ALL EEZ – Raced wide throughout.Hung out severely in the home straight placing its rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Trainer J Wigginton was advised that ALL EEZ must barrier trial prior to its next start. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

TEN TAUBADA’S – When questioned regarding the performance of TEN TAUBADA’S which raced below market expectations, rider H Richardson stated that the gelding may not have handled the change in surface as TEN TAUBADA’S had been racing on the sand track at Bundaberg this preparation. She further added that TEN TAUBADA’S failed to respond to her riding throughout the event. Trainer D Gardiner agreed with jockey Richardson and added he would press on with TEN TAUBADA’S campaign and return to the sand track at Bundaberg on the 5th September for the Bundaberg Cup. A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the left eye.

MASON’S CHANCE – Raced wide throughout.

REGAL REECE – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after breaking through the front of the barriers and was passed fit to start.

Race 7: Milne Bros Ratings Band 0-58 H’cap – 1100m

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to give consideration to an objection lodged by Z. White rider of the second placed LINGALONGA LASS against KING KLAUS (B.Appo) being declared the winner alleging interference from the 200m. It was established that KING KLAUS shifted out under pressure in the straight and carried MASSABIELLE slightly wider out onto LINGALONGA LASS which brushed on a number of occasions inside the final 100m. However bearing in mind the nature of the interference and the manner in which both horses finished the race off, as Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the interference to LINGALONGA LASS not occurred it would have beaten KING KLAUS home, the objection was dismissed.

KING KLAUS – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

ZABRING – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.

INVISIBLE GIRL – Raced in restricted room for a number of strides near the 400m.

LINGALONGA LASS – Approaching the 900m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SUPER LEON which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Brushed on a number of occasions of the concluding stages and raced in restricted room.

MASSABIELLE – Brushed on a number of occasions over the concluding stages.

MARRON CHEVAL – Slow to begin.

SILVER LUCY – Approaching the 900m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SUPER LEON which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Near the 300m was obliged to shift in to improve into clear running after being disappointed for a run.

SUPER LEON – Hung in throughout the event. Trainer J Pointon was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding.

SEDUCTION – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start.


Race 8: Belroma Park Ratings Band 0-58 H’cap – 1100m

APPLICANT – Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Carried wider on entering the home straight by CINCO STAR. Laid in under pressure down the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to its off hind pastern.

LORD LAURIE – On return to scale Jockey A. Sewell notified stewards that his lead bag was missing from his gear and subsequently weighed in, in excess of half a kilogram underweight. Acting under the provisions of AR209(2)(a) LORD LAURIE was disqualified from the event, and correct weight was declared. At a subsequent inquiry trainer D. Rideout pleaded guilty under AR209(2)(b) in that he failed to saddle the gelding with its required lead bag and was fined $1000.

CINCO STAR – Became awkwardly placed on heels on entering the home straight and shifted out carrying APPLICANT wider.
