SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Rockhampton 13 February 2021 – Race 1
Stewards concluded an inquiry in the circumstances which resulted in Apprentice Alisha Ross being dislodged from her mount passing the 200m. It was ascertained that Apprentice Ross clipped the heels of KEFALONIA which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. As stewards deemed this to be a racing incident, no further action was taken.
 
GENERAL
All horses that competed in the past seven days underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were passed fit to start.
 
 
Race 1: TAKALVANS NEW AGE CARAVANS, BUNDABERG QTIS
Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
 
CACAO – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event. Rider reported that after being trapped wide throughout the event, his mount failed to respond to his riding in the straight and weakened over the concluding stages.
 
GENTLEMAN REID – Hampered on jumping away and as a result was slow to begin.
 
BAY'S SPIRIT – Hampered on jumping away.
 
DIDN'T ASK ME – Passing the 200m was momentarily inconvenienced when racing in restricted room.
 
KOHEETO – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the near hind leg.
 
PARKBURN – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
TOP CEEDEE – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 700m had to be restrained after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of KOHEETO.
 
CHESTER'S ANGEL – Hampered on jumping away.
 
LADY CONAVARO – Slow to begin.
 
TILLY'S SECRET – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
ITSA CLAMITY – Hampered on jumping away and as a result was slow to begin.
 
Race 2: HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY IAN STENHOUSE Maiden Handicap
1600 metres
 
CAIRNSY (NZ) – Was declared a late scratching at 12.49pm after refusing to load. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 12.49pm as following:

Place Bets (For 2nd) Tezoff - 1 cents

ESPEREUS – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
EVRYNOW'N'THEN – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MARINASARA – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: MITAVITE OPEN Handicap 1500 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed owning to medical attention required to a member of the barrier staff.
 
ARGENTO PERLO – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
MEATBALL – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 4:  DLV FINANCE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
INALOO – Hampered on jumping away. Hampered passing the 400m by FIFTY FOUR SQUARES, who was carried out by GEKKO, which shifted out to improve. Jockey B Nothdurft, rider of Gekko, was reminded of his obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future. Rider reported that after suffering interference passing the 400m his mount began to weaken noticeably. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SOOTHERS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
WHO SHOT MAGGIE – Jumped away awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed signs of heat stress.
 
WEBCKE – Jumped away awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed signs of the thumps.
 
GEKKO – Held up for clear running from the 500m to approaching the 400m and had to shift out to improve.
 
GOLD JET – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
TOY WHITTY – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Race 5: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed owing to the veterinary surgeon providing assistance to a horse in the tie up stall.
 
HINVICTUS – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHE'S SMART – Passing the 200m became awkward in its stride after the mare was accidently struck with the whip of TINDER.
 
TESTA BOOM – Rider reported that his mount felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.
 
TINDER – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
TONTEIN – slow into stride.
 
PETITE ELLE – Raced fierce in the early stages of the event. Trainer V. Heading was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the mare in relation to its racing mannerisms.
 
Following the running of this event that track was upgraded to a Good 4 retrospective to race 5.
 
Race 6: EMPIRE APARTMENT HOTEL RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap
1200 metres
 
SANTORINI SUMMER – Slow to begin.
 
 
A GIRL LIKE ALICE – Rider could offer no explanation for the performance of the mare. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
HILFLAGER – Severely hampered on jumping away by REAL ANA, which jumped away awkwardly.
 
REAL ANA –. Jumped away awkwardly and failed to stride out in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer Mr T Smith was advised that the filly would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards and provide a veterinary clearance prior to accepting for a future race start. Apprentice K. Wilson-Taylor was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers after being dislodged post race and was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
 
Race 7: HYGAIN 2021 COUNTRY CUP BENCHMARK 65 Handicap
1600 metres
 
VAN WINKEL – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
ADDICTED – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800m had to restrained after improving onto heels. Trainer G Bell reported the gelding would now be retired.
 
SIZZALATING – Hung out under pressure over the concluding stages proving difficult to ride out.
 
DEMURRAL – Slow to begin.
 
DREAMING OF BISCAY – Slow to begin.
 
SCENT OF FEAR – Disappointed for a run passing the 400m. Raced green under pressure in the straight.
 
COACH – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
GALVARINO – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
 
Race 8: SKYLINE RESTAURANT Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
FRUGAL – Hampered shortly after jumping.
 
SANGLIER – Hampered on jumping away.
 
LET'S CHEER AGAIN – Was declared a late scratching at 4.29pm on veterinary advice after becoming cast in the barrier stalls. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 4.29pm as following:

COAT OF ARMS – Overraced in the early and middle stages and ran out making the first turn approaching the 800m.
 
 
Race 9: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE - SUNDAY 11 APRIL - 11AM Class 2 Handicap 1400 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed owing to Queensland Ambulance Officers tending to a member of the public.
 
Jockey B El-Issa was dislodged en-route to the barriers and was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers and passed fit to fulfil his engagement.
 
SCORPIOS SUNSET – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
COLLAY'S SPIRIT (NZ) – Was declared a late scratching on veterinary at 5.19pm after becoming cast in the barriers. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 5.19pm as following:
