GENERAL
 
The following weight alterations were authorised due to the current Covid restrictions
Race 4 – C Whiteley – MANIFICA - +.5kg
Race 4 – N Day – DUAN PHOENIX - +1kg
Race 6 – A Sewell – CAVALERO - +.5kg
Race 7 – A Sewell – SCENT OF FEAR - +.5kg
Race 7 – C Whiteley – ATTIQUE - +1kg
Race 8 – N Day – AUSSIE TYCOON - +1kg
 
Rider R McMahon did not attend today’s meeting due to transport difficulties and was replaced on his ride in race 7 AERIAL COMBAT by N Day.
 
 
Race 1: 1 BROWN BROTHERS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
BETTER RAIN – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIRENE – Began awkwardly.
 
No further racing incidents.
 
Race 2: GRANT & SIMPSON LAWYERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1300 metres
 
KASHKAR – Began awkwardly.
 
BOUDICA'S GIFT – Inclined to lay in rounding the home turn. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAGNETIC DRIVE – Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight before obtaining clear running near the 200m.
 
CALPURNIA – Raced wide without cover throughout. Tailed off from the 400m taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the filly.
 
 
Race 3: HAIRHOUSE Class 3 Handicap 1100 metres
 
The start was delayed when MILITARY FORCE proved difficult to load. Trainer A. Stephens was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
EMMA'S JET – Shifted in near the 150m tightening CARDICE.
 
CAPTAIN FOX – Raced keen in the early stages. Forced wider by SCORIA STAR near the 800m.
 
SCORIA STAR – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages. Hung out from the 800m forcing CAPTAIN FOX wider. Improved onto heels and was forced to steady at the 700m and again near the 600m. Upon returning to scale Jockey A. Sewell advised that the mare was in season.
 
CARDICE – Fractious in barriers. Placed in restricted room and lost ground near the 150m when EMMA’S JET shifted in. Apprentice T. Townsend (EMMA:S JET) pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding in that a point nearing the 150m, she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of CARDICE, resulting in that runner being tightened for room, checked and lost ground. Apprentice Townsend’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight January 21st 2022 and to conclude midnight January 29th 2022. Apprentice Townsend was advised of her right to internal review.
 
MILITARY FORCE – Began awkwardly tightening another runner to the outside.
 
 
Race 4: ROCKHAMPTON BUSINESS MACHINES Class 2 Handicap 1300 metres
 
 
STAR OF LEON – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Apprentice M. Potgieter was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip seven times prior to the 100m.
 
MANIFICA – Raced keen throughout the middle stages.
 
IN ORDER – Began awkwardly.
 
LEGAL CHANCE – Raced keen in the early stages. Improved onto heels at the 900m and was forced to steady.
 
 
Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
 
ALLANON – Fractious in barrier. Upon returning to scale Jockey R. Wiggins advised that his saddle shifted shortly after start placing him unbalanced and as a result, he was unable to fully test his mount in the home straight.
 
SHEER SUCCESS – Upon returning to scale Jockey C. Whitely advised his mount was inclined to hang in throughout the early and middle stages.
 
BAY'S SPIRIT – Improved onto heels at the 600m and was forced to steady.
 
MORE THAN CHARGED – Began awkwardly.
 
THORBEN – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
IL CALZINO – Raced wide without cover throughout. Commenced to weaken from the 300m taking no further competitive part in the event. Jockey J. Stanley could offer no explanation for the seemily disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 6: BECOME A MEMBER IN 2022 OPEN Handicap 1300 metres
 
BOGEY MAN – Shifted out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
DAUNTING QUEEN – Began awkwardly.
 
JAY JAY – Apprentice T. Fenlon was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip eight times prior to the 100m.
 
SVINDAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 7: WWW.CALLAGHANPARK.COM.AU BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1600 metres
 
The start was delayed when PLANET WARRIOR proved difficult to load. Trainer O. Cairns was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
CROCKETT – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels near the 900m and was force to steady.
 
AERIAL COMBAT – Slow to begin. Weakened from the 600m taking no further competitive part in the event. Jockey N. Day advised that in his opinion his mount resented the tongue tie throughout today’s event and failed to respond when placed under pressure from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer J. Wigginton was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to returning to racing.
 
TONTEIN – Began awkwardly.
 
ATTIQUE – Raced keenly during the early stages.
 
COMMANDER'S WATCH – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 8: LIKE US ON FACEBOOK RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1500 metres
 
The start was delayed when PRINCE OF VENICE underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to start.
 
PRINCE OF VENICE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BOLD ADVANCE – Slow to begin.
 
MOTHERLODE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
AUSSIE TYCOON – Momentarily held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
FLAMING VICTORY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
