GENERAL
The following weight alterations were authorised by Stewards.
Race 6: T Brooker – EMMA’S JET - + .5kg – 54.5kg
Race 7: T Chambers – LYNRIC LASS - + .5kg – 55kg

Race 1: TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres

SEENUSCOMING – Laid inwards in the early stages of the home straight.

MONEY MUNCHER – Slow to begin and shifted outwards bumping with SEENUSCOMING.

RUNINSCARED – Raced ungenerously in the home straight.

SHE'S OUT THERE – Raced wide over the early stages. Upon returning to scale Jockey A Sewell reported his mount felt flat throughout, didn’t show its normal gate speed and in his opinion didn’t back up from its previous start.

COCO ROYALE – Laid inwards in the home straight.

REAL STATEMENT – Began awkwardly. Jockey J Stanley reported to Stewards his mount felt sore with a post-race veterinary examination revealing minor abrasions and lacerations to its off-hind leg.

ALPHA JANE – Laid inwards in the home straight. When questioned regarding the improved performance of ALPHA JANE, Trainer D Hansen advised that the filly had been working well in the lead up to today’s race and had benefitted from a spell from its previous start where she had pulled up shin sore.

BAY'S SPIRIT – Jumped away awkwardly.

BOLD STORM – Raced ungenerously rounding the 800m turn when REAL STATEMENT (J Stanley) shifted in to improve to the lead. Jockey J Stanley was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) when tightening BOLD STORM on its inside. Apprentice rider M Castle was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted.

Race 2: WILLIAM PIKE RIDING ROCKHAMPTON CUP DAY Maiden Handicap 1500 metres

The declaration of correct weight was delayed when T Chambers, the rider of the third placed ADAM’S APPLE lodged a Protest against the second placed ST MORITZ alleging interference approaching the 800m. After viewing the Stewards footage and hearing the relevant evidence the Protest was dismissed and correct weight was authorised as per the Judges placings.

ST MORITZ – Began awkwardly. Jockey J Molloy was reprimanded for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m two more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii).

LONDON BELL (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages before improving to the lead near the 1100m.

ADAM'S APPLE – Passing the 800m shifted off the heels of TWISTED WHISKEY which had checked off the heels of ST MORITZ when placed in restricted room by DUYFKEN.

TWISTED WHISKEY – Checked off heels approaching the 800m and was forced to steady when ST MORITZ shifted inwards when placed in restricted room by DUYFKEN (T Brooker). T Brooker was warned to exercise more care in future circumstances.

DUYFKEN – Raced wide without cover for the majority.

LARUNDEL – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

SUDDEN SUSPECT – Began awkwardly bumping with LARUNDEL on jumping and as a result lost ground. Failed to maintain contact with the field throughout. The connections were advised a warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.


Race 3: WINTER CARNIVAL CALCUTTA LUNCHEON QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1400 metres

The track conditions were upgraded to a Good 4 retrospective to this race.

SHEPPEY – Bumped with PRINCESS SALLY near the 1100m.

JUNGLE BEAT – Fractious in the barriers and jumped away awkwardly. Over raced early stages. Steadied near the 100m when TRICKY BEANS was forced wider by POLICE which had lay outwards.

PETER THE PIPER – Raced wide without cover throughout.

POLICE (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped on jumping with PRINCESS SALLY. Brushed the running rail near the 500m when improving into a marginal gap. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages and had to be straightened. Bumped with KAMARCHER over the concluding stages.

CHESTER'S ANGEL – Lay outwards over the early stages. Buffeted between POLICE and TRICKY BEANS near the 400m

TRICKY BEANS – Had to be steadied near the 100m when POLICE lay outwards.

PRINCESS SALLY – Bumped by POLICE at the jump.

KAMARCHER – Shifted inwards over the final stages bumping with POLICE which had shifted out.


Race 4: HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEIDI BUTLER Class 6 Plate 1100 metres

KRAVITZ – Began awkwardly.

LET'S PARTY MARTY – Lay inwards in the home straight. Apprentice J Molloy was fined $200 for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii).

WAIT A MINUTE – Slow to begin.

TRU BLU TANGO – Began awkwardly making contact with the inside barrier partition.

VAST KAMA – Raced wide over the early stages. Rider I Rabjones reported her saddle slipped near the 900m. Apprentice Rabjones was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m two more than permitted.


Race 5: PHIL PEEL JEWELLERS WINTER CARNIVAL FASHIONS ON THE FIELD Fillies & Ma 1300 metres

SEMAPHORE GIRL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Lay inwards in the home straight.

MAESTOSO – Jumped away awkwardly.

LEARNING CURVE – Began awkwardly. Lay inwards in the home straight.


Race 6: TATTERSALLS GOLD CUP OPEN Handicap 1600 metres

MASTER JAMIE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted outwards at the jump.

MONSIEUR MACRON (NZ) – Raced keenly through the early stages while being restrained. Commenced to weaken from the 600m and was eased down by its rider from the 200m taking no competitive part in the remainder of the race. Jockey J Stanley advised his mount felt awkward in its action from the 700m and he elected not to place the gelding under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was lame in the near foreleg with a veterinary clearance required prior to resuming racing. Trainer J McConachy advised it was his intention to retire MONSIEUR MACRON from racing.

SAYL (GB) – Held up for clear racing room over the early stages of the home straight. Shifted off the heels of MONSIEUR MACRON approaching the 400m. Jockey R Fradd was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted.

HEZHOME – Began awkwardly. Over raced early stages. Apprentice rider M Castle

QUALITY ASSET – Crowded at the start. Over raced early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. With approx. 800m to run dipped. Held up for racing room over the early stages of the home straight.


Race 7: GREAT NORTHERN RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap1300 metres

There was a lengthy delay to the start when GYPSY ROZAY became fractious in the barriers dislodging rider N Thomas.

I AM CLEVER – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before angling wider on the track near the 500m.

STAR OF LEON – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced and raced wide through the early stages.

VILA TINTO – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide over the early stages.

PHOENIX FLYER – Slow to begin. Lay inwards in the home straight.

GYPSY ROZAY – Became fractious in the barrier dislodging rider N Thomas. N Thomas was examined by QAS officers and cleared to take his mount. GYPSY ROZAY was passed fit to start by the veterinarian. Lay inwards in the home straight. A warning was placed on the barrier manners of GYPSY ROZAY.

LINGJUN TOPGUN – Jockey I Rabjones was examined by QAS officers and cleared to take her mount after she was struck by GYPSY ROZAY. Following the running of the race Apprentice I Rabjones was further examined by QAS officers and was transported to Rockhampton Hospital for further assessment.

MAGIC MOET – Momentarily steadied near the 200m when racing in restricted room.

PERSAGA – Slow to begin.

LYNRIC LASS – Over raced over the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Shifted off heels in the early stages of the home straight. T Chambers was fined $200 for using her whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m three more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii).

CORPORAL – Slow to begin.
