Race 1: 1 LEADING APPRENTICE TAHLIA FENLON QTIS Three-Year-Old
Handicap 1050 metres
 
 
MR ENCORE – Bumped with STEP TIS WAY on jumping. Hung in against the efforts of its rider near the 900m, resulting in PRISCILLA MISS being tightened and checked.
 
SHE'S WINNING – Fractious before the start. Laid in under pressure early in the home straight.
 
PRISCILLA MISS – Began awkwardly. Tightened and checked near the 900m. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
 
STEP THIS WAY – Bumped with MR ENCORE on jumping. Laid in under pressure early in the early part of the home straight.
 
Race 2: LEADING TRAINER CLINT TAYLOR OPEN Handicap 1050 metres
 
 
PATROLLING – Fractious before the start. Began awkwardly.
 
NUKE - Fractious before the start. Began awkwardly. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN Class 4 Handicap 1400 metres
 
TORBRECK – Trainer partnership C & K Geran was fined $100 under AR106(1) for presenting their runner to the mounting yard wearing incorrect gear. Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
KNIGHT'S SWORD – Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
MONTANA NIGHT – Trainer Clint Taylor advised that he was not overly disappointed with the performance of the mare considering MONTAANA NIGHT is better suited over longer distances. Mr Taylor added that after settling towards the rear, he felt apprentice Cody Collis may have been better served to have placed the mare under pressure sooner than he did on this occasion. Apprentice Cody Collis explained that after being forced wider by CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN leaving the 700m and suffering minor inconvenience early in the home straight he felt he ought to continue to ride to the instructions provided, which were not to place the mare under pressure until inside the final 400m.
 
FIVE STAR DECANTER (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Restrained off heels near the 1200m. Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN – Momentarily held up for a clear running in the early part of the home straight. Laid in under pressure from the 400m.
 
Race 4: TAB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres
 
REVENIRE – Slow to begin.
 
AGE OF INNOCENCE – Began awkwardly.
 
IN ORDER – Raced keenly during the early stages.
 
WHOSHOTTHEMAGICIAN – Began awkwardly.
 
ASTRAL ODYSSEY – Began awkwardly. Laid out in the middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until leaving the 400m.
 
TOY BLAZE – Laid in under pressure.
 
Race 5: LEADING JOCKEY RYAN WIGGINS Maiden Plate 1050 metres
 
The start was initially delayed due to KEENZAP proving difficult to load. The start was further delayed when KING INTEFT become fractious and reared in the barriers. The gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
DENIMS – Declared jockey Ashley Butler was fined $200 under AR190(3) for accepting a ride and subsequently being unable to make the weight. Chris Whiteley was the approved replacement rider. Fractious prior to the start. Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 900m. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DOGGA'S DANCE - Trainer Garnett Taylor was fined $100 under AR106(1) for presenting their runner to the mounting yard wearing incorrect gear.
 
 
I AM THAT I AM – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
KING INTEFT – Reared in the barriers and underwent a pre-race vet check with no abnormalities detected. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
ROUND THE FIRE – Jockey Nathan Day reported that the gelding proved difficult to ride throughout. Connections advised that they reconsider the racing future of the horse.
 
SHE JUST SAID IT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid un when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
KEENZAP – Due to no other available rider being available jockey Les Tilley was permitted to ride an additional 0.5KG over his originally permitted 1KG overweight. Les Tilley was subsequently fined $200 under AR190(3) for failing to make his originally declared weight. Fractious to load and a warning was issued.
 
ANGEL ABOVE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: HAMILTON CQ PAINTING RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1500 metres
 
 
TELL THE WORLD – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
STAR OF LEON – Raced wide early.
 
HEYGERONIMO – Laid in under pressure throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
HYPERION STAR (NZ) – Slow to begin. Restrained off heels near the 1200m when over racing. Dipped near the 800m.
 
TRUST IN ALOHA – Slow to begin.
 
REGAL FIELD – Difficult to load and a warning was issued. Connections reported the mare was in season.
 
Race 7: CAUGHT IN THE ACT Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres
 
BOLD RUMBLE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of Jockey Ryan Wiggins and was cleared to start.
 
SIDEARM – Bumped on jumping.
 
BETTER TO EXCEL – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
MAVERICK HENRY – Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear racing room from the 650m until the 400m. Laid in under pressure from the 400m.

STRAITOUTTAHARLEM – Raced wide throughout.
 
TOY WHITTY – Fractious to load. Jumped outwards at the start bumping with CAMAROSA.
 
CAMAROSA – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure.
 
TOKAREV – Difficult to load and delayed the start. Trainer N. Summers was advised the runner would be stood down until it completed two consecutive barrier trials to the satisfaction of stewards. Slow to begin.

Race 1 - App Minonette Kennedy was the approved late replacement on SHE’S WINNING due to declared rider Nathan Day encountering transport difficulties. Stewards permitted the replacement of a senior jockey with an apprentice on the basis that no other senior jockey was available at the time to make the weight.
Race 5 – Chris Whiteley replaced Ashley Butler (overweight) on DENIMS.
