MY WHISTLEBLOWER – Rider J Stanley  was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m three more than permitted.
 
IKIGAI STAR – Shifted outwards over the final stages. R Wiggins was fined $400 for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
PRIZED BENEFIT – Over raced through the early stages. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. Rider J Taylor dropped his whip just prior to the 100m. J Taylor was fined $300 for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii).

 
Race 2: JOIN THE GOLD CLUB BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1600 metres
 
GRANT'S PATCH – Over raced through the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance rider A Spinks advised the gelding travelled well until placed under pressure and failed to respond. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
BAYERISCHE – Lay inwards passing the 400m.
 
FRESH PRINCE – R Wiggins was fined $400 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted.
 
HYPERION STAR (NZ) – Begun awkwardly and was slow to begin. Raced ungenerously over the early stages.
 
 
Race 3: GET YOUR RJC 2023 MEMBERSHIP RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1050 metres
 
BORNEES LAD – Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed signs of lameness in the off foreleg. The connections were advised the gelding requires a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing. Rider A Spinks was fined $400 for using his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m three more than permitted pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
IDONO – Raced keenly through the middle stages.
 
IMAGINE THAT – Raced ungenerously racing into the first bend when racing in tight quarters. Held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the home straight until the 400m. Raced greenly over the final stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance the connections advised in its previous start it was extremely slow to begin and finished close up and they were not surprised with the forward showing.
 
SAW THAT COMING – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
 
 
Race 4: FITZROY NURSERIES Class 6 Handicap 1300 metres
 
KASINOVA KID – Lay outwards over the final stages.
 
KNIGHT'S SWORD – Was examined pre-race by the veterinarian after THE SQUIRE became fractious in the barrier next to the gelding and was cleared to race. Lay outwards over the final stages.

THE SQUIRE – Was declared a late scratching at 2:57pm on veterinary advice after being fractious in the barrier. Stewards ordered all win bets to be paid less 17c the win only. The connections were advised the gelding was required to complete a satisfactory trial prior to resuming racing. A veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.  
 
 
Race 5: TAB Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres
 
FAMUS FELLA – Slow into stride settling at the back of the field.
 
JANOSIK (NZ) – Over raced early stages.
 
BONAUGURA – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the home straight. Rider A Layt was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted.
Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1050 metres
 
KEENZAP – Jumped away awkwardly and struck the barrier partition.
 
REAL STATEMENT – Lay inwards over the concluding stages. R Wiggins was fined $300 for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
READY TO GROOVE – Slow into stride and tailed the field throughout. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
 
 
Race 7: SAVE THE DATE ROCKY CUP 8TH JULY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1050 metres
 
PATROLLING – Lay outwards under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance rider R Wiggins advised he anticipated the gelding would improve with the run after returning from a brief spell.
 
ENUFF HE SAID – Slow into stride.
 
POET'S GIRL – Held up for clear room over the early stages of the home straight. Held up again when racing in restricted room approaching the 300m. Bumped with SHOTGUN SONNY over the final stages.
 
WINNEBA – Slow to begin.
 
SHOTGUN SONNY – Bumped with POET’S GIRL over the final stages. J Stanley was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m two more than permitted.  
 
WHOSHOTTHEMAGICIAN – Rider M Murphy was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted.
