SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

THANGOOL – 29TH APRIL 2024 – RACE 5 – BM45 HCP – 1200M - MISS DAURIAN

Trainer D Johnston stated that MISS DAURIAN had pulled up well since its disappointing performance on 29/4/24. Trainer Johnston stated that in his opinion, the mare resented the firm track conditions and may not have stretched out during the event. He added that he would be continuing with the preparation and would be racing at Bundaberg on 4/5/24 where he believes the sand track conditions would be more suitable.

Race 1: SAVE THE DATE ROCKY CUP JULY 13 QTIS 2YO MDN HCP - 1200M

OUTBACK BANDIT – Held up for clear running from entering the home straight to a point near the 400m.

FRASER'S RIDGE - Jumped away awkwardly shifting out. Laid in throughout the home straight and had to be steadied from the heels of ACEDROD momentarily passing the 400m.

LOVE 'N' GAMES – Slow to begin.

TRISCAY'S WAR PASS – Raced wide throughout.

BETTER THAN WORDS – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey J Stanley stated that his mount travelled well during the event and was confident of the filly’s chances upon straightening, however when he asked BETTER THAN WORDS for an effort, the filly failed to respond to his riding and went to the line only fairly.

HORRIBLE HANK – Raced wide throughout.

BOOM SIGHT – Apprentice T Fenlon stated that her instructions were to be positive on the filly and after beginning fairly, she was able to ride to these instructions. Apprentice Fenlon further stated that rather than be trapped wide, she elected to push forward and assume the lead which her mount did without having to do much work. She added that BOOM SIGHT travelled well in the race, however when she asked for an effort in the straight, the filly only responded fairly and went to the line only satisfactorily in the circumstances. Apprentice Fenlon further added that in her opinion, BOOM SIGHT would be better suited with a drop back in distance and would derive benefit from the performance today.

CLUCK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the gates in the mounting yard enroute to the barriers and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.

Race 2: TAB C1 PLT - 1500M

GENERAL WOLFFE – Pulled hard in the early stages and had to be restrained from the heels of PANNIER (NZ). Hung in for the entirety of the home straight. Trainer M Stephens was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding. When assessing that only a warning should be placed on the gelding, stewards were mindful of the number of starts that GENERAL WOLFFE has competed in without any recorded embargos.

MISHANI PATRIOT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing at Townsville on 30/4/24 and cleared to start.

PANNIER (NZ) – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

ROZNAMLA (NZ) – Slow to begin.

Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN C6 PLT - 1300M

THE GENERAL (NZ) – Checked shortly after jumping and raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay out from a point near the 900m until passing the 300m.

SHAMEDY – Had difficulty obtaining a clear run from upon entering the home straight to a point near the 200m. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey L Tilley stated that his intentions were to obtain cover and save his mount for one short sprint as he is of the belief that SHAMEDY races best when being ridden in this manner. He added that he was satisfied with how his mount was travelling but when he was finally able to obtain clear running near the 200m, SHAMEDY didn’t respond in the manner in which he anticipated and was disappointed with the final effort. Jockey L Tilley further added that in his opinion, SHAMEDY races best when competing in distances over 1600m. Trainer G Green stated that he was overall disappointed with the efforts from SHAMEDY in today’s event and could offer no explanation. Trainer Green further stated that it will be his intention to re-assess the gelding’s preparation after assessing how SHAMEDY pulls up in the days subsequent.

DOCTOR TEEKAY – Bumped shortly after the start.

FASTCONI – Shifted in on jumping hampering THE GENERAL (NZ).

KAHAYLAAN – Slow to begin.

Race 4: GET YOUR CALCUTTA DINNER TICKETS JULY 12 QTIS 3YO MDN HCP - 1100M

The start was delayed approximately 4 minutes when SUPERONIC was fractious behind the barriers and refused to load. Subsequently SUPERONIC was declared a late scratching at 3.13pm with the following deductions to apply on all winning bets;

11c in the dollar for all win bets (CRYPTIC PRISM)
14c in the dollar for all place bets (CRYPTIC PRISM)
13c in the dollar for all place bets (SHE’SGOTACCESS)
6c in the dollar for all place bets (LOST MY NIGHTIE)

After hearing submissions from Trainer J Wehlow, stewards determined that due to miscommunication, the barrier blanket that was part of the gelding’s approved gear had not been attempted to be fitted onto the gelding until the attendants had made several attempts to persuade SUPERONIC into the barriers. It was noted by this stage, SUPERONIC had already begun to become fractious and due to this, when the barrier blanket was eventually fitted some time after, it did not have the desired effect. As a result of this information, stewards did not take any further action against the record of SUPERONIC and undertook to inquire into the reasons why the barrier blanket hadn’t been declared on the report given to the starter.

CRYPTIC PRISM – raced wide in the early stages

BEGGAR'S BANQUET – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped the hindquarters of LOST MY NIGHTIE. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

HANK THE HUSTLER – Bumped with OUR BERLINETTA on jumping.

LOST MY NIGHTIE – Bumped shortly after the start.

OUR BERLINETTA – Bumped with HANK THE HUSTLER on jumping.

CRY ME A RIVER – Bumped on jumping with MASTER RICH. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

STREET NEEDS – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Raced wide in the early stages and hung out rounding the home turn.

HADMYTIME – Bumped shortly after jumping with BIKER. Jockey S Collett reported that her mount raced extremely ungenerously in the early and middle stages of the event and whilst she was able to settle her mount to some degree in the latter half of the event, HADMYTIME continued to race ungenerously and was never a competitive proposition in the event. Trainer J Lancaster was advised that HADMYTIME would be required to barrier trial prior to its next start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 6: CAPRICORN SURVEY GROUP C1 HCP - 1300M

VONCOSTENUFF – Raced keenly in the early stages after obtaining the lead and proved difficult
