Trainer R Vale was fined $100 under the provisions of LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dually accepted ZELENZY out of one of the races by the prescribed time.
Stewards accepted the reasons regarding jockey J Huxtable for being overweight on HEY JEALOUSLY in Race 2 and subsequently being replaced by jockey J Murphy.
The running of race 5 was delayed due to the QAS officers needing to attend to an on-course patron. Stewards, in consultation with SKY Channel, put all races back one time slot, with the amended start times listed below:

RACE 1: 2 WEEKS TILL ROCKY CUP CARNIVAL MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200m)
CRAIGLEA OREO – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
VILLANDRY – Hampered on jumping by WARHOL and was carried outwards making heavy contact to RUM RUMBLE’s hind quarters, and as a result lost ground. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
JOYOUS STEPS – Was reluctant to load. Trainer T Simmons was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record.
LONHANOVA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
I'M NUMBER ONE – Began awkwardly.
RUM RUMBLE – Bumped with DAWN EXPRESS on jumping. Shortly after the start, was bumped in the hindquarters by VILLANDRY which was carried outwards by WARHOL and then was bumped by MISS ELOTAN which shifted outwards abruptly shortly after. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up in the home straight until a point near the 250m.
DAWN EMBERS – Bumped with RUM RUMBLE on jumping.
SARDINIA – Was fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Began awkwardly and shifted outwards, bumping with TRIPLE JAB. Over raced in the early and middle stages and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of RUM RUMBLE near the 700m.
TRIPLE JAB – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards, bumping with SARDINIA and as a result was slow to begin.
WARHOL – Shifted outwards abrupt on jumping, hampering VILLANDRY. Over raced in the middle stages. Inclined to hang outwards rounding the home turn.
MISS ELOTAN – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards abruptly, bumping with RUM RUMBLE shortly after the start.
SCRUFFY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
SCOTTVILLE SCOOTER – Bounded on jumping. Held up in the home straight until a point near the 200m.
RACE 2: BECOME A RJC GOLD CLUB MEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1200m)
SANTORINI SUMMER – Bounded on jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
GILBERT'S GOLD – Overraced throughout the event. Inclined to lay outwards rounding the home turn. Bumped by ZELEZNY which shifted outwards near the 600m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
HOTCHI – Began awkwardly.
ICONIC PRINCE – Began awkwardly and was impeded on jumping by HEY JEALOUSY which shifted out, and in turn was carried outwards impeding DOONA.
THE DARK SIDE – Began awkwardly. Inclined to hang inwards in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J Stanley reported that THE DARK SIDE travelled well in the early stages, however one paced, and when asked to quicken, the gelding failed to respond and went to the line in a disappointing manner.
SIDESHOW FRANKIE – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
BULL DIMPLE RUM – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey N Thomas advised that he was at a loss for an explanation regarding the disappointing performance, stating that BULL DIMPLE RUM never travelled throughout the event and never responded to his riding at any stage. Jockey Thomas added that connections were expecting a better showing upon its most recent start as the gelding had been working well in the lead up to today’s event, and that in his opinion the gelding may be better suited racing over further distances. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed minor signs of the thumps.
SPRING VALLEY – Slow to begin.
ZELEZNY – Began awkwardly. Shifted outwards near the 600m when attempting to obtain clear racing room and bumped with GILBERT’S GOLD.
HEY JEALOUSY – Shifted outwards on jumping, impeding ICONIC PRINCE.
LYNRIC LASS – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Inclined to lay out over the concluding stages and near the 100m, momentarily inconvenienced DOONA which had to change course and shift inwards.
DOONA – Began awkwardly and was impeded by ICONIC PRINCE, which shifted outwards, and as a result was slow to begin. Elected to restrain to obtain a position closer to the rail shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Had to shift inwards near the 100m when LYNRIC LASS laid outwards.
RACE 3: NEIL BAULCH MEMORIAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP (1400m)
ASTRA STAR – Heavily bumped on jumping by SCRUB CHAIN which shifted outwards abruptly.
SCRUB CHAIN – Shifted outwards abruptly on jumping, heavily bumping ASTRA STAR. Commenced to over race in the early stages and had to steady to avoid the heels of KAI MONDO which shifted in when obtaining a position in the lead. Apprentice L O’Donnell was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding for shifting her mount in when not fully clear of another runner. In determining penalty, stewards were mindful that leading into the incident, apprentice T Fenlon had commenced to restrain her mount when over racing prior to KAI MONDO encroaching on her line. Held up in the home straight until a point near the 350m. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
ASK ME MATE – Impeded on jumping by KAI MONDO which shifted outwards and ELECTRIC BRAE which shifted inwards, and as a result was slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages.
KAI MONDO – Shifted outwards on jumping, impeding ASK ME MATE. Raced keenly and wide in the early stages until obtaining a position in the lead near the 1100m.
ROTHFURY – Commenced to over race in the early stages and had to be restrained from heels of other runners on multiple occasions.
PROPOSE – Shifted inwards on jumping, bumping the hindquarters of CARACRISTI. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
ELECTRIC BRAE – Began awkwardly, blundered and shifted inwards on jumping, impeding ASK ME MATE.
SPITZBERG – Began awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier partition.
CARACRISTI – Bumped in the hindquarters by PROPOSE which shifted inwards. Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to hang in the home straight when placed under pressure.
ROYAL GLADIATOR – Bounded on jumping. Bumped with ASTRA STAR near the 300. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
RACE 4: ACTON STAND OFFICIAL OPENING BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1802m)
OUR TURN NOW (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. Bumped with WHATJEUDOIN’ upon entering the home straight. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
PREPOTENT – Raced wide in the early stages.
REPLACE THE ACE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
CRAIGLEA LA VIE – Difficult to load. Trainer K Johnston was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s record and that its pre-race loading behaviour would be monitored moving forward. Slow into stride. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MAGIC GAME – Slow to begin. Elected to shift outwards near the 700m in an attempt to improve. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J Stanley stated that MAGIC GAME failed to travel at any stage of the event, which may have been due to the removal of blinkers this start. Trainer C Taylor concurred with the comments from jockey Stanley and advised that he will look to make a gear adjustment prior to its next start with the re-addition of blinkers. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
WHATJEUDOIN' – Bumped with OUR TURN NOW (NZ) upon entering the home straight. Apprentice K Lenton pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 14 times in total. Apprentice Lenton’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, with the suspension to commence midnight 24th June 2025 and to conclude midnight 1st July 2025. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.
LATIN LOVE – Proved difficult to load and as a result delayed the start. Trainer R Stenhouse was advised that LATIN LOVE would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again for its pre-race manners. Was fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Raced wide in the early stages.
MERLOMANN – Apprentice O Kendal was charged under the provisions of AR211(1) for weighing in excess of 0.5kg overweight. Apprentice Kendal was fined $100. When determining penalty, stewards took into consideration apprentice Kendal guilty plea and the QRIC penalty guidelines.
SADDLES – Slow to begin.
RACE 5: THE RJC HONOURS THE ACTON FAMILY BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP (1400m)
EXECUTIVE STRESS – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear racing room in the home straight until a point near the 400m.
FISTSOFFURY – Bumped with PAPASITO on jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice L Martyn stated that it was her intentions to attempt to settle forward in the field, however beginning poorly, she had to elect to settle at the rear of the field. Apprentice Martyn further stated that FISTSOFFURY never travelled at any stage, failing to respond to her riding urges and went to the line in a disappointing manner. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
PAPASITO – Bumped with FISTSOFFURY on jumping.
SIAN STAR – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
NICKELBACK – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers by the request of its rider and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
I SAY BOOM – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that I SAY BOOM would settle further back in the field. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear racing room for majority of the home straight.
THE LAST SAGA – Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide in the early stages.
Following the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a GOOD 4.
RACE 6: ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB TATTERSALLS SPRINT OPEN HANDICAP (1200m)
The start of this race was delayed when DEMON AWARD underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers after making contact with the mounting yard fence and was cleared to start. The start was further delayed when jockey J Stanley was struck in the head behind the barriers and was examined by QAS and cleared to fulfil his engagements.
MASTER SHOWMAN – Held up in the early stages of the home straight until shifting wider on the track.
NED'S GULLY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
ALCYONE – Bumped with RUBUNKAR on jumping.
DEMON AWARD –Bounded on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MEDIA EMPIRE – Began awkwardly. Impeded shortly after the start by TRACK TALE which shifted outwards and MOENAVE which shifted inwards. Commenced to over race near the 800m and had to be restrained when racing onto the heels of TRACK TALE. Passing the 800m, stepped in for a stride when being restrained, placing CHERRY ROSE in restricted room for a number of strides. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight.
TRACK TALE – Shifted outwards shortly after the start, impeding MEDIA EMPIRE. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Improved onto heels when over racing near the 800m and had to be restrained.
CHERRY ROSE – Slow into stride. Placed in restricted room for a number of strides when MEDIA EMPIRE stepped in for a stride near the 800m. Held up in the home straight until a point near the 400m. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
RUBUNKAR – Bumped with ALCYONE on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MOENAVE – Shifted inwards on jumping, impeding MEDIA EMPIRE.
DRAGON'S SNIP – Commenced to over race in the middle stages and was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn, needing to be restrained by its rider. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 7: TAB TATTERSALLS GOLD CUP OPEN HANDICAP (1600m)
LOGAN STREET LION (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages. Raced keenly in the early stages.
ELLA TE AMA – Bumped with SKYFORGER on jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice K Lenton pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 11 times in total. Apprentice Lenton was fined $600. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration the QRIC whip guidelines and apprentice Lenton’s record, which indicated one prior offence under the rule for using her whip 9 times prior and less than 12 in totality.
UNDER THE CAP – Blundered on jumping.
CONVENER (FR) – Slow into stride.
SKYFORGER – Bumped with ELLA TE AMA on jumping. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
SIR GRACE (NZ) – Bounded on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
PARADE GROUND – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
PIPISTRELLE – Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked for a comment on the performance, jockey R Stewart stated that his mount commenced to overrace in the middle stages when being restrained, and as a result was unable to be settled which proved detrimental over the concluding stages.
DIVINE PURPOSE – Jockey J Stanley pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR137(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 11 times in total. Jockey Stanley was fined $500. In determining penalty, stewards took into consideration the QRIC whip penalty guidelines and jockey Stanley’s record in relation to the rule.
REDWOOD SHADOW (NZ) – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Was held up in the home straight from the 400m until a point near the 200m.
SPOOKY SPIRIT – Began awkwardly.
BETTER TOMORROW – Slow to begin.
RACE 8: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1100m)
The start of this race was delayed due to both runners NORTHERNONTAP and RUSSIAN MINT being presented late to the mounting yard. When questioned, Trainer L Hatach advised that due to both runner’s saddles being presented late, combined with the short timeframe between races, he was ultimately late to the mounting yard. Given the circumstances, stewards noted Trainer Hatch’s explanation and took the matter no further.
DAIMYO (JPN) – Held up in the home straight until a point near the 400m.
NORTHERNONTAP – Began awkwardly resulting in Jockey J Huxtable becoming unbalanced. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RUSSIAN MINT – Over raced in the early stages. Held up in the home straight until a point near the 400m.
CANNY BE BETTER – Impeded on jumping by INATICK which shifted inwards. Shifted wider on the track near the 300m to obtain clear racing room.
DEVIL DEVIL – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
INATICK – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards, impeding CANNY BE BETTER. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
UNIVERSAL HARMONY – Began awkwardly, making contact with the inside barrier partition. Raced keenly in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice L Martyn stated that when UNIVERSAL HARMONY commenced to race keenly, she elected to allow her mount to travel where comfortable. Apprentice Martyn added that the fast tempo set in the early stages proved detrimental to the gelding’s overall chances and advised that UNIVERSAL HARMONY would derive benefit from today’s run.
