Race 7 – NEXT RJC RACEDAY 5 AUGUST Class 1 Handicap (1400m)
Stewards spoke to jockey Natalea Summers in relation to an incident shortly passing the winning post where MASALI RAFFA had to check when placed in restricted room. After viewing the replays, it was established that SIDESHOW FRANKIE (Jockey Summers) had laid inwards when jockey Summers was in the process of putting her whip away, resulting in MASALI RAFFA (apprentice Brooke Johnson) having to check. Stewards reminded jockey Summers of her obligations to ensure she does not allow her mounts to shift ground when racing in close proximity to other runners, even when past the finish post.
GENERAL
Due to the abandonment of an interstate race meeting, under the direction of SKY Racing the start times of each race today were amended as follows:
Race 1. 1:20pm
Race 2. 1:55pm

Race 5. 3:50pm
Race 6. 4:25pm
Race 7. 5:00pm
As jockey Justin Huxtable (personal) was not riding at today’s meeting, rider replacements were approved as per the steward’s race day summary.

RACE 1: TAB QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200m)
VIKING SUN – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear racing room until a point passing the 200m.
NORDIC INVADER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
DESARAE DOLL – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance jockey R Wiggins advised that the filly did not travel kindly on the bit and may have choked down during the run when yielding ground over the final 200m and advised connections to experiment with gear changes. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery and the filly was displaying clinical signs of thumps. Trainer C Taylor will be contacted in the following days regarding the recovery DESARAE DOLL.
PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE – Fractious in the barriers and reared on multiple occasions. Trainer J McConachy was advised that a warning has been placed against the barrier manners of the filly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance apprentice T Fenlon advised that the filly travelled well throughout the run, however failed to run on in the home straight and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
DUBBLE HUSSLE – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung in during the initial stages of the home straight and then commenced to shift out under pressure from the 150m. When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, trainer R Pereira advised that a drop back to maiden class two-year-olds and the additional distance of today’s event were, in her opinion, the contributing factors.
RACE 2: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP (1050m)
MOOCHI STARLIGHT – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards bumping with TEN CARAT LUCY. Raced keenly during the middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
TEN CARAT LUCY – Slow to begin and bumped immediately after the start by MOOCHI STARLIGHT. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Commenced to over race when being restrained towards the rear of the field. Over raced and held up for clear racing room in the home straight until a point approaching the 300m.
KOBE ASCOT – Jumped away very awkwardly and was slow to begin. Bumped with ZABOOG immediately after the start. Held up for clear racing room until a point passing the 400m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
POWERCHUTE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed at the Yeppoon meeting on Saturday 2nd August 2025 and was cleared to start. Jumped away awkwardly. Was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn near the 600m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 300m.
RICHBOY HARRY – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
ANGE – Slow to begin and was impeded immediately after the start by ZABOOG which was carried inwards by KOBE ASCOT.
FRUIT TINGLE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having competed in a race for an extended period of time and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Trailed the field over the 800m and was beaten 38 lengths. Jockey A Thompson advised that his mount failed to travel at any stage. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J Campeao was advised that FRUIT TINGLE has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
POPPY'S PRIDE – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.
ZABOOG – Bumped on jumping by KOBE ASCOT. Raced wide throughout.
Following the running of race 2 the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
RACE 3: CLINTON TAYLOR PREMIER TRAINER OPEN HANDICAP (1100m)
THISLAND IS MYLAND – Over raced during the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards rounding the turn near the 900m.
DIVINE OKAY – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with ALLOUTATIME. Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
CAPTAIN FOX – Jumped away awkwardly. Trainer P Fleming when questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding advised that at CAPTAIN FOX’S most recent start the firm going did not suit and a significant weight advantage after the claim may have proved beneficial. The trainer further added that CAPTAIN FOX had continued to work well leading into today’s event.
DEEP BLAST – Jumped outwards at the start and was slow to begin as a result. Jockey R Silvera Olivera was reminded of his obligation in relation to his whip use and his arm above shoulder height.
DRAGON'S SNIP – Jumped inwards at the start and bumped with ALLOUTATIME.
SVINDAL – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
ALLOUTATIME – Buffeted between runners at the start. Held up for clear racing room in the early part of the home straight until a point near the 400m.
BATTLE OF VIENNA - Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Shifted outward near the 450m to obtain clear racing room.
RACE 4: JUSTIN STANLEY PREMIER JOCKEY CLASS 6 PLATE (1400m)
PREPOTENT – Jumped away awkwardly.
CAPO STRADA – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance jockey A Butler stated that the moderate tempo in the early and middle stages proved detrimental to his mounts chances to make ground over the final stages where the closing sectional times were significantly faster.
ZHUANG SHI – Raced keen in the early and middle stages.
GANGITANO – Raced keenly during the early and middle stages.
RAETIHI (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained towards the rear of the field. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
SMOOTH TORQUE – Slow to begin.
RACE 5: MCKENZIE APEL PREMIER APPRENTICE JOCKEY BM60 HANDICAP (1300m)
CANNY BE BETTER – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice N Olzard stated when questioned that after being trapped wide throughout and with the heavy weight impost the gelding failed run on as expected and proved to be disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer S Green will be contacted in the coming days regarding the post-race recovery of the gelding.
CRACKER ESSGEE – Buffeted between runners on jumping and as a result was slow to begin.
GENERAL WOLFFE – Shifted inwards on jumping and bumped with CRACKER ESSGEE. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
THUNDER MANIA – Approaching the 200m shifted outwards to obtain clear racing room and bumped with TIZSO FAB.
SPELLMASTER (NZ) - Jumped away awkwardly then shifted outwards and bumped with SANTORINI SUMMER. Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining the lead near the 900m.
TIZSO FAB – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards bumping with CRACKER ESSGEE. Bumped by THUNDER MANIA near the 200m when that runner shifted outwards to obtain clear running.
YELLOWHAMMER – When questioned regarding the performance jockey A Thompson stated he was of the view that the mare failed to handle the firmer track condition today. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer T Edmonds will be contacted in the coming days regarding the post-race recovery of the mare.
SANTORINI SUMMER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed at the Yeppoon meeting on Saturday 2nd August 2025 and was cleared to start. Bumped on jumping by SPELLMASTER.
RACE 6: CAULFIELD CUP TICKETS ON SALE CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1100m)
RICH AGAIN – Slow to begin and bumped with SNAZZY SNITZEL at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
SNAZZY SNITZEL – Bumped with RICH AGAIN at the start. Raced ungenerously throughout.
ELECTRIC BRAE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running at various stages in the home straight until passing the 200m.
IRISH ROCKET – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with FIREUPZOUS.
LADY LONGPOCKETS – Slow to begin. Bumped and became unbalanced near the 100m when FIREUPZOUS hung in despite the efforts of the rider.
ITHINKBETTA – A post-race race veterinary examination revealed the presence of blood in the left nostril. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that the mare has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory 1000m gallop in the presence of stewards.
FIREUPZOUS – Bumped with IRISH ROCKET at the start. Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Hung in and bumped LADY LONGPOCKETS near the 100m despite the efforts of the rider.
ZOULY – Declared a late scratching at 2.07pm on veterinary advice when found to have received lacerations to the right hind after being fractious during transport to the meeting. Trainer A Clark was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare’s next race start or trial.
RACE 7: NUTURF 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1500m)
ALL BUSINESS (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly.
BAUHAUS – Jumped away awkwardly.
CITIROC – Raced keen in the early stages.
ROY'S ROAD – Raced wide early before obtaining the lead near the 1200m. Jockey A Butler, when asked to comment on the performance advised that after enduring work in the early stages from a wide barrier to obtain the lead, this effort proved detrimental to the overall performance of the mare over the final stages.
NATIVE BEE – Raced wide from the 900m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice O Kendal pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to her mount on 15 occasions prior to the 100m and 20 times in total. The license to ride in races of apprentice Kendal was suspended for 14 days to commence midnight 9th August 2025 and conclude midnight 23rd August 2025. In arriving at penalty stewards were mindful of the Whip Penalty Guidelines, the riders clear record for the past 6 months and the level of whip use beyond the requirements.
BULL DIMPLE RUM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
LYNRIC LASS – Raced wide throughout.
PEAKING TOM – Slow to begin.
JOLIE APOLLINE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
