PALATIAL PRINCE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
FORTRESS AUSTRALIA – Pulled hard during the middle stages. Jockey S Cormack, when questioned regarding the performance, advised that he was unable to obtain cover and as a result his mount over raced in the middle stages which was in his view the major telling factor for the slightly disappointing performance.
Race 2: TAB BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE FOR 3, 4&5YO'S) 1400 M
The start of this race was delayed approximately 5 minutes to allow MELO MELO KAVA to be reshod after dislodging the left front shoe enroute to the start. MELO MELO KAVA underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

THE DEPUTY (NZ) – Apprentice R Thorburn was fined $300 under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim any portion of his allowance. In issuing penalty, stewards were mindful of apprentice Thorburn’s recent poor record in relation to this rule. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice R Thorburn was queried in relation to whether he considered placing his mount under pressure sooner than the 500m. Apprentice Thorburn advised that THE DEPUTY (NZ) only possesses a short sprint and due to the early tempo he was of the view that the two leading horses may be vulnerable in the latter stages. Apprentice Thorburn further added that in hindsight he may have underestimated the capability of HOLLYWOOD NORTH finishing the race off as strong as it did on this occasion.
NONDISCLOSURE – Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 11.33am when found to be lame in the left foreleg. Trainer S Sigvart was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to the horse trialing or racing again.
Race 4: QUEST APARTMENTS ROCKHAMPTON BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1050 M

BOLD TYRANT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SEACRYPTION – Upon entering the mounting yard it was identified by stewards that the race book indicated SEACRYPTION to be wearing blinkers and the horse was presented without that gear. Stewards were then able to confirm, via the official gear records that blinkers were removed from the mare’s gear list on 28 August 2025 and an application to reapply blinkers on 16 October 2025 (for todays race) was declined by stewards due to the lateness of the application. Began awkwardly. Slow into stride.
JAY BEE ELL (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
CITIROC – Huld up for clear racing room in the early part of the home straight.
