GENERAL

Overweights permitted as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

The start time for Race 1 was updated to 11:46am.

Race 5 - Due to Apprentice T.Orr being committed to the emergency runner MADAME MAGPIE which gained a start, stewards permitted the late rider change of G. Cartwright on AUGUST JOE.

Subsequent to the running of Race 2, there was an area power outage resulting in an indefinite delay. At 3:00pm in consultation with the Rockhampton Jockey Club, Racing Queensland, a delegation of Jockeys and the attending Veterinary Officer, when power had not been restored, races 3 – 8 were postponed to a date to be confirmed.

RACE 1: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP          1050 M

YOUR TOO GOOD - Began awkwardly, knuckled on jumping and lost ground consequently. Raced wide in the early stages.

FORTRESS AUSTRALIA – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure over the final 300m.

LADY TOWNSON (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

RISE AND RESIST – Shifted in at the start and impeded THE PUBLICAN. When asked to comment on the seemingly disappointing performance, Jockey R. Wiggins stated his mount travelled well throughout however in his opinion, the gelding may be better suited to races over a further distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

CASH PIT – Shifted out at the start and impeded THE PUBLICAN. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

THE PUBLICAN – Impeded at the start between runners.
