Stewards opened an inquiry involving trainer D Shultz and his runners engaged to race at today’s meeting after receiving information in relation to those runners. After taking initial evidence, stewards permitted SOFTEN IT UP and LEICA BITTA FUN to take their place in the respective events, however ordered that pre- and post-race samples be collected from both horses. This inquiry has been adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. As a result of this inquiry both races 6 and 7 were marginally delayed.
RACE 1: RAILWAY HOTEL RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1200M
COBBO – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Hung inwards in the early stages of the home straight. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance, trainer C Dore advised that the gelding was better suited to today’s race due to the step up in distance and they were expecting an improved performance in comparison to most recent starts. Mrs Dore further added that the recent travels endured for the Twin Hills meeting on the 26th of September may have had a detrimental effect on the gelding’s most recent runs.
DIAMOND MONEY – Raced wide throughout.
SUPER TALON – Bumped on jumping by TOO MANY KISSES and lost ground as a result. Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 150m and was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
TOO MANY KISSES – Began awkwardly and shifted outwards bumping SUPER TALON. Held up for clear racing room for the majority of the home straight. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
HOLY CROWN – Raced keenly in the early stages.
RUBY SEVENS – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages and had to be restrained from the heels of COBBO near the 800m. Held up for clear racing room in the home straight until a point near the 200m.
RACE 2: KEPPEL PARK MAIDEN PLATE 1050M
KICK AND WIN – Shifted inwards abruptly at the start, hampering MAGIC TYLA.
ZABOOG – Raced wide in the early stages.
MAGIC TYLA – Hampered on jumping by KICK AND WIN and was carried inwards bumping with PARTY FOR US.
PARTY FOR US – Was fractious prior to the start. Bumped shortly after the start by MAGIC TYLA which was carried in by KICK AND WIN. Over raced in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice N Olzard reported that her mount was responding better to hands and heels riding and as a result she desisted from using her whip over the concluding stages.
RACE 3: THE MARY HORNERY & GREG SIMPSON SALUTE QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE 1050M
GREYLIST – Declared a late scratching at 8:00am due to no available rider.
THE PUNISHER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for an extended period of time and was cleared to start. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
BORRELLI – Commenced to race ungenerously in the early and middle stages and brushed the running rails near the 900m. Jockey T Chambers pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in which she used her whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m, 11 times in total. Ms Chambers’ license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 8 days, with the suspension to commence midnight the 4th of November and to conclude midnight the 12th of November.
KAI MONDO – Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
QUARTERSHARE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in when rounding the turn near the 900m. Raced wide until a point near the 800m.
GOTTA HERO – Elected to shift wider near the 800m in an attempt to improve. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey N Summers pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in which she used her whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, 15 times in total. Ms Summers license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 7 days, with the suspension to commence midnight 4th of November and to conclude midnight 11th of November.
HEY JEALOUSY – Slow to begin. Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 300m. Near the 50m shifted outwards off the heels of IMPACTFUL MISS to maintain clear racing room.
IMPACTFULL MISS – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. Inclined to lay out when placed under pressure from the 400m.
TENNER – Declared a late scratching at 8:00am due to no available rider.
RACE 4: GJ GARDNER HOMES YEPPOON CUP/COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1400M
MOKTAFFY (IRE) – Began awkwardly.
BAYERISCHE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
LADY MASQUERADE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
GENERAL WOLFFE – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Held up for clear racing room near the 400m and until a point approaching the 200m.
RACE 5: REGALS DENTAL IN MEMORY OF SANDY ATFIELD BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400M
SOUTHAVEN – Began awkwardly. Jockey A Butler reported that the heavy weight impost in combination in being second up today proved detrimental to the gelding’s ability to quicken when asked.
POPPY’S PRIDE – Disappointed for a run near the 200m.
BULL DIMPLE RUM – After having competed at Rockhampton on 3rd of November, a veterinary certificate of soundness to allow the gelding to compete was provided to stewards prior to the meeting. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination by the on-course veterinarian and was cleared to start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear racing room until a point approaching the 200m. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MASALI RAFFA – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight and had to be corrected on a number of occasions.
FANCY LEGEND – Began awkwardly.
JELLISHOT – Began awkwardly.
RACE 6: TAB QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
HUMBLE HERO – Began awkwardly and bumped with UNION DELEGATE at the start.
UNION DELEGATE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for an extended period of time and was cleared to start. Bumped at the start by INCISIVE IVY and was carried out bumping with HUMBLE HERO and lost ground as a result. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
DIAMOND CODE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
INCISIVE IVY – Shifted out on jumping bumping with UNION DELEGATE. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Hung inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
SUNSHINE RUBY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 7: GREAT NORTHERN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1300M
CHAPARRAL CHASE – Inclined to lay outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
PRESSZORA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
SANTORINI SUMMER – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MR GREY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
SOFTEN IT UP – Slow to begin.
RACE 8: REES R & SYDNEY JONES SOLICITORS RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1600M
CASH ARTIST – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 900m laid inwards and brushed the running rail. Laid outwards in the early stages of the home straight.
PENSEUR POSITIF – Raced wide in the early stages until obtaining a position outside the leader near the 1200m. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
LEICA BITA FUN – Began awkwardly.
FLYBALL – Raced keenly in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey C Mclver was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) for his use of the whip on 15 occasions in total.
RACE 9: NORRIS HAIR BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1050M
MIMMY’S SECRET – Began awkwardly and bumped with SUPER SLICK shortly after the start. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
DISCOVERED GOLD – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers after becoming fractious and was cleared to start.
WARHOL – Held up for clear racing room over the final 150m and was placed in restricted room near the 50m to the inside of COCO ROYAL and had to be restrained.
POWER CHIC – Stewards approved jockey A Butler to ride 1kg overweight at 58kg as there were no other riders available. Began awkwardly and as a result slow into stride. Over raced in the middle stages. Shifted outwards approaching the 100m and bumped with AWESOME MISS. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
COCO ROYALE – Laid outwards leaving the 200m and bumped with AWESOME MISS. Laid inwards over the concluding stages.
SUPER SLICK – Bumped with MIMMY’S SECRET shortly after the start.
AWESOME MISS – Bumped by POWER CHIC which shifted out approaching the 100m.
MISS RINEHART – Declared a late scratching at 8:00am due to no available rider.
