When considering the degree of interference suffered to SMASHING ROSIE, the momentum lost, the margin between the two runners at the point of interference and then at the finish, stewards were satisfied that but for the interference suffered by SMASHING ROSIE, that runner would have beaten RELACE THE ACE at the finish of the race and therefore upheld the protest.
