GENERAL

Apprentice Tahlia Fenlon was unable to attend today’s Rockhampton meeting, which was rescheduled from yesterday, due to a prior riding engagement at today’s Sunshine Coast meeting. As a result, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards' race day summary.
 
Apprentice Amy Graham was also unable to attend today’s rescheduled Rockhampton meeting, originally postponed from yesterday, due to personal commitments. Rider replacements were made as per the Stewards' race day summary.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight:
Race 5 – Sean Cormack +1kg, Raul Silvera Olivera +1kg
Race 7 – Raul Silvera Olivera +1kg
 
 
RACE 1:LEN MILNER MEMORIAL QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE (1050 M)

The start of this race was delayed by approximately 2 minutes due to the late arrival of the ambulance on course.
 
NEVERENOUGHLEGO – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.

ZOUSAIN'S CHOICE – A fraction slow to begin. Laid out under pressure over the final 150m.

READYETTE – Jumped away awkwardly.

TRICKETT'S JEWEL – Laid in and raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. Jockey Raul Silvera Olivera was fined $100 under the provisions of AR132(6)(b) for applying the whip to his mount using an action that saw his arm raised above shoulder height.        


RACE 2: BRISBANE AIRPORT HOTELS GROUP MAIDEN HANDICAP (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO ONLY) (1200 M)

ALWAYS DELIVERS – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Impeded soon after the start when SPORT shifted outwards.

PROVISEUR (NZ) – Slow to begin.

SAY IT LOUD – Impeded and check soon after the start when SPORT jumped inwards and SHE’SGOT IT jumped outwards. When queried in relation to the performance, jockey Justin Stanley advised that after suffering interference at the start the mare commenced to race keenly in the middle stages and as a result this impacted the manner in which SAY IT LOUD was able to finish over the concluding stages.

SCIALLA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SPORT – Jumped inwards at the start and impeded SAY IT LOUD. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

JUST LIKE ROSIE – Checked after the start when SHE’S GOT IT jumped outwards. Over raced in the early and middle stages and had to be restrained from heels near the 700m.

SHE'S GOT IT – Jumped sideways at the start and checked JUST LIKE ROSIE and SAY IT LOUD. A warning was issued against the racing manners of SHE’S GOT IT. Raced keenly in the early stages. Apprentice McKenzie Apel reported that her mount was inclined to hang out throughout the run.


RACE 3: ROCKHAMPTON MINI LOADS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1050 M)

SAILOR'S RUM – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

COBBO – Jumped away awkwardly.

PRETTY SLICK – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out under pressure over the final 150m.

OUR EAGLE ROCK – Jumped away awkwardly.

ELECTRIC BRAE – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result.

PRUCIA – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and was corrected by the rider on a number of occasions                


RACE 4: ALLENSTOWN SQUARE MEATS CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1400 M)

The start of this race was delayed due to a late gear adjustment being required on LUXOR PRINCE behind the barriers.
 
INCA TRAIL – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SMART MISSION – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.

TRAPEZE LEGEND – Jockey Ryan Wiggins pleaded guilty to a charge under the provision of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 9 occasions prior to the 100m and 13 times in total. The licence to ride in races of jockey Wiggins was suspended for 7 days, with the suspension to commence at midnight 21st April 2026 and conclude at midnight 28th April 2026.

TYMON – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for clear racing room in the early part of the home straight. Laid in under pressure over the final 300m.

FIFTY FIVE MUSTANG – Jumped away awkwardly.

TRUSTY BANDIT – Slow to begin.

CITIROC – Jumped away awkwardly.


RACE 5: ROCKHAMPTON REGIONAL COUNCIL 2026 MAYORS CUP OPEN HANDICAP (1200 M)

LETMELETGO – Hung in under pressure in the home straight and had to be corrected by the rider on a number of occasions.

KATHY'S BEAU – Reluctant to load in the barriers. Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey Justin Stanley, when questioned regarding the performance advised that the gelding was first up for 6 months and travelled well throughout, battled well until its run ended near the 250m and would derive significant fitness benefit from today’s run.

PIPISTRELLE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.

PRIDE OF VENUS – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for clear racing room in the early start of the home straight until a point approaching the 200m.

TIZSO FAB – Fractious in the barriers.

PREPOTENT – Jumped away awkwardly.        


RACE 6: TAB 2026 CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE CLASSIC QTIS 2YO PLATE (1200 M)
 
SWIFT DRAGON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey Ryan Wiggins was fined $500 under the provisions of AR211(1) for weighing in after the race in excess of half a kilogram of the allocated weight for his mount.

BETTER BLITZEM – Jumped away very awkwardly.

DUB STEPPING – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

ON LOCATION – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards impeding PATIENCEOFASAINT. Hung out noticeable for some distance leaving the 800m and a warning has now been placed against the geldings racing manners. An intended post-race veterinary examination was unable to be conducted due to the veterinarian being tied up with other duties. Trainer Clinton Taylor reported that the geldings bit had pulled through its mouth in the run and on return to his stable ON LOCATION displayed lameness to the left foreleg and as such he was advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to the horse’s next start. Trainer Taylor added that ON LOCATION would now be spelled.

COAL SEAM – Raced in restricted room in the home straight until passing the 400m. Laid in under pressure over the final 300m.

MISSILE SPIN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming very fractious and rearing in the barriers. Cleared to start. Trainer Tom Bourke was advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

MISSILE BABY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

PATIENCEOFASAINT – Impeded at the start when ON LOCATION shifted out at the start.

SIXTY NINE GRANGE – Jumped away awkwardly.

DAZZLING GEISHA – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result.         


RACE 7: GREAT NORTHERN CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE QTIS 3&4YO CLASSIC HANDICAP (1300 M)

SARAQAEL – Knuckled on jumping. Jockey Warwick Satherley pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 8 occasions prior to the 100m and 17 times in total. The licence to ride in races of jockey Satherley was suspended for 8 days to commence midnight tonight and conclude midnight 20 April 2026.

KOBAYASTAR – Jumped inwards at the start and bumped with PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE.

KOHLER KID – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Unable to obtain clear racing room until a point near the 400m.

FLYING ANIMO – Reluctant to load in the barriers. Jumped away awkwardly.

MIMMY'S SECRET – Jumped away awkwardly. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room until a point near the 300m.

DEEKAYGEEBEE – Raced wide early until obtaining the lead passing the 1000m.

AIMA SUN – Jumped away awkwardly resulting in the rider becoming briefly unbalanced.

SWEET PRETENDER – Jumped away awkwardly.

ACCEPT POWER – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with AIMA SUN.

AUTUMN GALE – Jumped away awkwardly.

PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE – Buffeted between KOBAYSTAR and ACCEPT POWER at the start.

WAYNO – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing for the majority of the home straight.


RACE 8: PHIL PEEL JEWELLER BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1200 M)

BETTER THAN WORDS – Carried wider on the track by TEN CARAT LUCY near the 800m. Held up for clear racing room until a point passing the 400m.

LONERGY – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 300m.

JUST BINGO – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
THE LAST SAGA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BOLD CHANGE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice L Martyn was advised to ensure she rides her mounts out fully to the finish.

REIGNING ALPHA – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

OUR HEART THROB – Slow to begin.

TEN CARAT LUCY – Raced keenly for the majority of the event.

CRYPTIC PRISM – Jumped away awkwardly.
