GENERAL
Trainer Nicole Vuille pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of local rule LR43 in that she had an unlicensed person undertaking stable hand duties under her employ. Trainer Vuille was fined $200.
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 4 – SVINDAL – Adam Sewell +0.5kg (54.5kg)
Race 6 – MR GREY – Warwick Satherley +0.5kg (54.5kg)

RACE 1:TAB QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1050M
AIRBORNE AFFAIR – Inclined to lay out when placed under pressure over the final 100m.
CHARMING SEAHORSE – Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly thereafter. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Jockey Ryan Wiggins reported his mount was held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.
SAILING SOLO – Shifted inwards at the start. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
DIANTE – Shifted out at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages.
ASTILLA – Shifted out at the start and bumped HOPE SO. Over raced in the early stages.
HOPE SO – Bumped at the start. Passing the 500m, taken wider by POWER OF ANGELINE which shifted out to secure clear running, and was held up for clear running for a short distance soon after. Raced greenly over the final 400m.
POWER OF ANGELINE – Inclined to hang outwards rounding the home turn. Passing the 500m, shifted out to secure clear running, taking HOPE SO wider.
RACE 2:GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO'S ONLY) 1600M
BEST EAGLE – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey Aahley Butler stated the gelding raced keenly with the blinkers on and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
GENERAL GORDON – Slow to begin. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
ARGYLE GOLD – Began awkwardly and was slow as a result. Leaving the 100m, laid outwards when placed under pressure.
FROSTY'S GOTCHA – Held up for clear running from the early stages of the home straight until the 150m and was disappointed for a run when GENERAL GORDON laid in.
CHECK ONE TWO – In the early stages of the home straight, inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure. Laid out over the final 100m.
SET FOR LIFE – Began awkwardly. Over raced throughout. Raced wide for the majority.
RACE 3:GET YOUR ROCKY CUP CALCUTTA TICKETS OPEN HANDICAP 1100M
TRACK TALE – Bumped at the start by KAI MONDO. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Apprentice McKenzie Apel dropped her whip near the 50m.
DEHORNED UNICORN – Shifted out at the start and bumped PRESOCRATICS. Held up for clear running from the early stages of the home straight until the 350m.
KAI MONDO – Began awkwardly and bumped TRACK TALE.
PRESOCRATICS – Bumped at the start by PRESOCRATICS. Passing the 200m when attempting a run to the outside of SAILOR'S RUM, was carried wider when that runner laid outwards.
SAILOR'S RUM – Raced wide for the majority. Inclined to lay outwards passing the 200m.
UNIVERSAL HARMONY – Near the 850m, steadied to avoid the heels of PRETTY SLICK. Over raced in the middle stages. Held up for clear running from the early stages of the home straight until passing the 200m. After the running of the race it was noted the gelding had lost its tongue tie in the barriers.
RACE 4:WADE HUNT IT OPEN HANDICAP 1400M
The start of this race was delayed by approximately two (2) minutes to allow the running of an interstate race.
STAMPE – Over raced in the early stages.
PARADE GROUND – Bumped at the start with ASTRA STAR. When crossed by PEPPERDINE (apprentice Leah Martyn) near the 1050m, had to be steadied and briefly checked to avoid the heels of that runner. Apprentice Leah Martyn was reminded of her obligations regarding steadying the pace of the race.
ASTRA STA – Bumped at the start with PARADE GROUND. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
DON PEDRO – Apprentice Chloe Lowe pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, 10 times in total. Apprentice Lowe was fined $500. Apprentice Lowe was also reminded of her obligations to not use the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
SCRUB CHAIN – Raced wide for the majority. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey Chris McIver stated he was caught three wide and positioned further forward than anticipated which proved detrimental.
PEPPERDINE – Passing the 800m, elected to shift wider in an attempt to improve into clear running. Inclined to lay outwards over the final 200m.
SVINDAL – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the early stages of the home straight until approaching the 300m.
RACE 5:BURKE IN STYLE MENSWEAR RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1050M
BETTER BREAKOUT – Raced wide throughout. Near the 200m, inconvenienced when BILLY BOOM shifted out.
BILLY BOOM – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay outwards when passing the 200m and inconvenienced BETTER BREAKOUT. Near the 50m, steadied to avoid the heels of BETTER BREAKOUT (Jockey Ryan Wiggins) when that runner shifted in abruptly before being immediately corrected by its rider. Jockey Ryan Wiggins was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding.
CRYOSEISMS – Bumped at the start with KING OF THE VIBE. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
KING OF THE VIBE – Bumped at the start with CRYOSEISMS. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.
TRIPLE SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and bumped with MAKING HISTORY. Raced wide until obtaining a position outside the leader near the 800m.
PENROD – Shifted out at the start. Near the 1100m, over raced with its head up. Unable to obtain clear running in the home straight and was disappointed for a run until passing the 200m.
LADY CONSORT – Began awkwardly and was slow as a result.
SPITZBERG – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
MAKING HISTORY – Began awkwardly and bumped with TRIPLE SPIRIT.
RACE 6:DIAGEO CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400M
NITROGEN – Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
CRYPTOLOGY – Shifted out at the start and bumped SKILFUL ARTIST.
SKILFUL ARTIST – Bumped soon after the start by CRYPTOLOGY and was carried out onto LUXOR PRINCE and impeded that runner. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
BOOM CRUSHER – Stewards permitted the gelding to race without its tail chain. Trainer Darryl Johnston was reprimanded under the provisions of AR106(1) for failing to present BOOM CRUSHER without its tail chain. Raced wide throughout.
LUXOR PRINCE – Began awkwardly and shortly thereafter was impeded by SKILFUL ARTIST which shifted out. Inclined to lay out over the final 200m when placed under pressure.
MR GREY – Bounded on jumping and was slow to begin as a result.
RACE 7:RENEW OR JOIN AS A RJC MEMBER QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1200M
HEART 'N' POWER – Raced keenly in the early stages.
NEXT LEGACY – Began awkwardly.
PHIL UP – Raced wide until obtaining a position outside the lead near the 900m.
SCIALLA – Proved difficult to load. Unable to obtain clear running in the home straight until a point near the 150m. Trainers representative Aleisha Wehlow advised stewards that post race it was identified that SCIALLA had cut its tongue which may have been caused by its tongue tie, and the filly may have resented that piece of gear. Trainer Garnett Taylor was advised that a warning would be placed on SCIALLA for its pre-race behaviour and proving difficult to load.
LEICA FLAMINGO – Began awkwardly.
INNOVADER – Raced keenly in the early stages.
SHEMAKESMENERVOUS – Bounded in the air as the start was effected. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey Raul Silvera Olivera stated that with the step up in class and after beginning poorly, he was unable to obtain the desired position, which proved detrimental to the filly’s finishing efforts.
MONSIEUR AMOUR – Began awkwardly. Inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.
RACE 8:TAB CUP CARNIVAL $20,000 TRAINERS BONUS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1200M
OUTWITTED – Raced wide in the early stages.
UNDERRATED – Raced wide for the majority. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
EL FORTRESS – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, steadied from the heels of OUTWITTED when that runner shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey Ashley Butler was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding.
FUTURE SOLDIER – Jockey Adam Sewell reported his mount hung out in the home straight.
MOISSANITE – Raced in restricted room over the final 50m.
HARD TO DISMISS – Began awkwardly and contacted the barrier partition. Held up for clear running in the home straight until the 250m.
TEN CARAT LUCY – Raced wide for the majority.
