Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 6: Les Tilley (+1kg) & Warwick Satherley (+1/2kg)
The following runners underwent pre-race veterinary examinations after having not raced for an extended period and were cleared to start; MOSTRO, SOUTHERN MONEY, CERTIFIED COPY and PRESSZORA.
RACE 1: GREAT NORTHERN MAIDEN HANDICAP (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO'S ONLY) 1600M
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards viewed the available replays of the start to ensure that CASH PIT did not gain an advantage at the start. Upon review of the replays, it was established that all barriers had opened simultaneously and no advantage was gained by CASH PIT and correct weight was given on the judge’s placings.
NAVY KISS – Shifted ground outwards under pressure over the final 200m.
ABLESHEEBA – Jumped away awkwardly.
FIRE ON ICE – Jumped away awkwardly. Tired noticeably to be beaten in excess of 45 lengths at the finish. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer James Baker was advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
SILVERTAIL – Jumped away awkwardly. Slow into stride. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
FROSTY'S GOTCHA – Knuckled at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
MADAME DOUBTFIRE – Jumped away awkwardly. Near the 700m blundered when switching out across the heels of ABLESHEEBA.
CASH PIT – Underwent a resaddle upon arrival at the barriers. Raced wide throughout.
CHECK ONE TWO – Jumped away awkwardly.Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 2: STYLISH EVENTS AND HIRE MAIDEN PLATE (QTIS BONUSES APPLICABLE 2&3YO'S ONLY) 1300M
REMEMBER THE BOYS – Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 250m. Hampered near the 200m when JETHRO shifted out under pressure. Apprentice Leah Martyn (JETHRO) was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift ground in this incident. Passing the 100m shifted out around the heels of ATOMIC TIME to obtain clear running. Over the final stages was carried wider when ATOMIC TIME shifted outwards.
ALL BANGED UP – Briefly tightened near approaching the 300m when MEAN MAGIC shifted inwards.
ATOMIC TIME (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Steadied from the heels of RED ROCKS BEACH near the 1000m when over racing. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted out under pressure over the final 100m and carried REMEMBER THE BOYS wider. Jockey Dylan Turner was reminded of his obligations to ensure his mounts maintain a straight course.
READY MADE MIRACLE – Jumped away awkwardly.
WATCHFULWILDERNESS – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
JETHRO – Jumped away awkwardly and blundered at the start. Raced wide early until obtaining the lead near the 1000m. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m and hampered REMEMBER THE BOYS.
ROYAL RIDDLE – Jumped away awkwardly.
MEAN MAGIC – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Held up for a clear run until a point passing the 300m. Laid in and briefly tightened ALL BANGED UP approaching the 300m. Jockey Chris McIver was reprimanded for failing to ensure his mount maintained a straight course at this point of the race. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RACE 3: ACCIONA-FULTON HOGAN CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400M
INCA TRAIL – Jumped away awkwardly.
MOSTRO – Jumped away awkwardly and was a fraction slow to begin as a result.
OUTWITTED – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keen early when wide on the track.
BITOFTHEBLARNEY (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
BROOKLYN DAISY – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide early before being restrained to obtain cover.
SETTAT (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.
EL FORTRESS – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result. Over raced in the early stages and had to be restrained from heels on a number of occasions. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
GENERAL WOLFFE – A fraction slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
RACE 4: DLV FINANCE RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1050M
KING OF THE VIBE – Raced wide throughout. Raced keenly in the early stages.
BEAU'S GIRL – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with AUGUST JOE at the start. Unable to obtain clear running for the majority of the home straight until a point near the 150m mark. When queried regarding the performance, jockey Ashley Butler advised that he was instructed to be positive from a favorable barrier and had a good run in transit. Mr Butler added that he felt shifting wider in the early part of the home straight would expose his mount to far from the finish and when able to obtain clear racing room passing the 200m his mount failed to respond to his riding urges and proved disappointing over the final stages.
BOTTOM BAR – Trainer Leonie Horstman was fined $200 under AR106(1) for presenting BOTTOM BAR to race without blinkers which is part of its declared gear. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers after contacting the mounting yard enclosure fence enroute to the barriers and was cleared to start. Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with AUGUST JOE at the start. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight and had to be corrected by the rider on a number of occasions.
MOOCHI STARLIGHT – Jumped away awkwardly, made heavy contact with the outside barrier partition, and was slow to begin. Held up for clear running until near the 250m. Hung in under pressure over the final 200m.
BLAME THE BUBBLES – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide early and middle stages.
AUGUST JOE – Jumped away awkwardly and was buffeted between BEAU’S GIRL and BOTTOM BAR at the start. Inclined to lay out on occasions during the run.
SPITZBERG – Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
MAKING HISTORY – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Held up for clear racing room until a point near the 250m. Trainer Tim Cook advised that upon return to the tie ups it was identified that MAKING HISTORY had dislodged a tooth which was subsequently removed.
RACE 5: GREENSTEEL CLAUDE GREEN MEMORIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200M
ROMANTIC BUBBLE (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
DIALIDAE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey Les Tilley reported that his saddle slipped upon jumping which placed him at some disadvantage throughout.
EL CENTRO – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey Jason Taylor pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 7 occasions prior to the 100m and 16 times in total. The license to ride in races of Mr Taylor was suspended for 7 days in accordance with the Whip Penalty Guidelines. The suspension is to commence midnight 11th July 2026 and conclude midnight 18 July 2026.
SOUTHERN MONEY – Fractious in the barriers and a warning was issued. Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice Leah Martyn advised that upon jumping her right foot made contact with the barrier partition.
HOU LONG GWAI – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
RACE 6: MAGIC MILLIONS CAPRICORN GUINEAS QTIS 3YO HANDICAP 1500M
ENFORCEABLE – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
ILLEGAL JUSTICE – Held up in the early stages of the home straight until a point near the 400m.Hung in under pressure in the home and bumped with SCIALLA passing the 300m.
NEXT LEGACY – Bounded in the air at the start and jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Jockey Warwick Satherley was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(i) for applying the whip to his mount on 3 consecutive strides prior to the 100m.
BE BOB ALOOLA – Stumbled at the start and was slow to begin as a result.
HEART 'N' POWER – Raced wide early before obtaining the lead near the 1100m. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
NOTFORTHEMONEY – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and was restrained from heels near the 900m.
HEROIC TALENT - Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the erly and middle stages.
EXODAS – Restrained from heels near the 900m when racing keenly.
SCIALLA – Raced wdie throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Shifted out and bumped with ILLEGAL JUSTICE passing the 300m when that runner hung in.
LEICA FLAMINGO – Jumped away awkwardly.
TRACE 7: TAB ROCKHAMPTON CUP - *** WEIGHTS RAISED 1KG*** 1600M
KEITEL – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
QUOTHQUAN – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride.
GIVE ME SPACE – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with PIPISTRELLE. Over raced in the early stages. Hung out near the 800m and raced wide thereafter.
ZOOLOGY (GB) – Jumped away awkwardly.
MAHAGONI (GB) – Jumped away awkwardly.
LUPINE (NZ) – Briefly raced in restricted room near the 200m when JOURNALISM shifted inwards.
MATAWAI (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for clear racing room in the early part of the home straight.
OUR MISSILE – Jumped inwards sharply at the start and bumped with PIPISTRELLE. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced keenly in the early stages.
PIPISTRELLE – Jumped away awkwardly and then buffeted between GIVE ME SPACE and OUR MISSILE.Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
PEPPERDINE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice L Martyn advised that PEPPERDINE is better suited when able to lead and dictate terms and as a consequence of being trapped wide throughout and not being able to lead this had material effect on the overall performance of her mount.
JOURNALISM – Jumped away awkwardly. Improved onto the heels of RAETIHI (NZ) approaching the 200m and shifted inwards to maintain clear racing room briefly tightening LUPINE (NZ).
RAETIHI (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages until obtaining the lead near the 1200m.
RACE 8: IVING TURF BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200M
HEROIC MISS – Over raced for the majority of the event.
KAI MONDO – Jumped away awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m.
DARK GLEAM – Apprentice Steph Tierney was reprimanded under AR132(6)(c) for her use of the whip over the final stages when out of contention.
FROSTY BEAR – Slow to begin. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
ORIENTE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Jockey Les Tilley advised that his mount felt awkward in its action over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the left hind leg and trainer Jeff Dunn was advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing until presentation of a veterinary clearance.
ASK ME MATE – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Raced in restricted room over the final 50m when CERTIFIED COPY LAID OUT and UNDERRATED laid inwards.
CERTIFIED COPY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers after contacting the mounting yard gate when entering the course proper and was cleared to start. Jumped away awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
ULUWATU – Jumped away awkwardly.
UNDERRATED – Jumped away awkwardly and slow into stride as a result. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
